This is one of my favorite stupid jokes with my SO- whenever I have the opportunity I ask 有没有mayo? I think I’m funnier than he does.

But did you say 有没有mayo or did you say 有mayo 没有?

If you type 有没有, does that make it into a question? (I thought that only worked with 不).

Sorry to interrupt the joke with an actual grammar question. :)

Yeah if you say 有没有 it implies a question

I don't get it.

Is that really bad mayonnaise?

I don't know if you really didn't catch the joke or if you're actually joking too

In case your response isn't in itself a bad joke, "没有" (meiyou) is pronounced pretty much the same as "mayo"

I still don't get it.

I guess you need a crazy-high level of Chinese to understand this one.

没有mayo means "don't have mayo", and it's pronounced a lot like "mayo mayo". the whole joke is just 没有 sounds like mayo. there isn't anything deeper to it
