Chess.com Website/App Question Elo calculation

Post image

How are these Elo calculated ?
Here in this game poor guy lost 103 Elo for one game.

Also this guy requested for a draw in a losing position is it ethically right ?

Does chess.com allow such draw request or should I report

New players lose/gain more elo while they’re establishing their skill level so that they get matched with players of the same strength faster. I wouldn’t report him for asking for a draw, but it is obnoxious and you shouldn’t do it.

Why would you report a draw request? Just deny it. There's nothing against the rules about asking for a draw.

Sometimes you can gain / lose a lot of elo if you haven't played many games or if you've gone a long time without playing.

First handful of games in a new variation will have some wild Elo swings until it balances out.

  1. You probably played a new account who chose to start at 1200 Elo, and thus rapidly loses Elo when losing games until it settles at the ”right” Elo after a handful of games.

  2. No, it’s not ethical to request a draw in a losing position.

  3. Like it or hate it, but you cant report somebody for poor sportmanship. Don’t bother, just deny the request.

I analyzed the image and this is what I see. Open an appropriate link below and explore the position yourself or with the engine:

Black to play: chessvision.ai | chess.com | lichess.org

My solution:

Hints: piece: King, move: Kg7

Evaluation: White has mate in 4

Best continuation: 1... Kg7 2. e8=Q Rf7 3. Re7 Rxe7 4. Qxe7+ Kh8 5. Rd8#

Save the position:

Generally speaking it's not respectful to offer a draw in a losing position unless you're vastly higher rated than your opponent. It implies you're dumb enough to accept the draw.
