AskChennai Are there any gaming centres with Xbox Series X or S consoles in Chennai? I want to play GTA VI once or twice per month and save game progress on cloud and continue at another gaming centre. Playstation needs you to buy PS Plus subscription which I don't want to as I don't own PS5.

I want to save game progress and saw online that Xbox lets you save game progress on the cloud for free without any stoopid subscription.

AskChennai Rain water harvesting

How many of your homes/apartments have a functioning RWH system ? We recently got ours renewed (old systems from when J had ordered were working fine) and the well water is recharged too. There is a huge Casa Grand coming beside and I know its only a matter of time until they pump it all away. With Hyderabad in a fix for water isnt it high time we get one ?

AskChennai Chennai – Coworking vs independent office for a consulting and engineering business. Suggestions?

Hi everyone!
I’m exploring office spaces in Chennai for two businesses; a management consulting firm and an engineering products business.
We’re considering either an independent office (budget around ₹20,000–₹25,000/month) or a larger private cabin in a coworking space.
The engineering business requires some inventory storage (motors and electronic speed controllers) and occasional product testing/troubleshooting. This may involve running motors using an electrical supply, with some mild noise.
While coworking would save us the hassle of setting up and maintaining an office, I’m unsure how flexible such spaces are when it comes to storage and occasional technical work.
We’re looking around Anna Nagar, Shanthi Colony, Thirumangalam and Mogappair.
Has anyone operated a similar business from a coworking or managed office? Are there spaces in Chennai that accommodate these requirements?
Would also appreciate recommendations for independent office spaces within our budget, preferably directly from owners.
Thanks in advance!

If you’ve had a positive experience or know a doctor who is experienced in treating this condition, please share their name, clinic, and location.

Any genuine recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Rant Eateries in this city need regulations and enforcement

There are some really serious concerns with food handling with this city. With so many eateries popping is it even realistic to expect enforcement from authorities given the workload

Hi guys , we are thinking to install solar panels in Chennai. We are looking to setup 3Kw solar. The TNEB website says the net cost would be ₹1,25,000 after subsidy.

Anyone here has any experience installing Solar panels in chennai? I have following questions

  1. Did you pay any bribe if you did how much was it ?
  2. How long does it take to get it running after applying , is the process smooth ?
  3. Will you be able to recieve free units after Solar installation?
  4. Any vendors you recommend?

Anything else we should be aware of ?

Rant Always special preference to women in gym by these trainer's.

Before this post gets removed from the sub, have you ever noticed that in every gym, special preference is always given to girls? 😐🥱🤨

In my gym, it has been happening for a long time, and some folks have even quit because of it.

Usually, I don't mind, as I do my workout using AI and YouTube videos. 😑😑😑

Recently, my wife started working out again after postpartum, and the attention we are both getting is surreal....

There was a trainer who never talked to me at all, but suddenly he is getting super friendly with us; I am like, dude, how was I invisible for two years? 😂😂😂😅

Rant 29M — My job is ending in a few days, and I'm scared of what comes next

I'm 29, autistic, and going through a difficult phase in my life. My current job contract is ending in a few days, and I still don't have another job lined up. I was promised a job opportunity at SRM two months ago, but I'm still waiting for a response. I don't know what will happen, and the uncertainty about my employment and financial security is frightening.

What's making this harder is that I have nobody close to support me emotionally. I'm struggling with loneliness, anxiety, and unresolved issues in my personal life. Being autistic adds to the challenges of socialising, building meaningful connections, and dealing with uncertainty.

Chennai is my hometown, but I still feel like a stranger here. I don't feel the sense of belonging or support I desperately need, and sometimes it feels like I'm facing everything alone.

I've tried to stay positive, but with my job ending and my future uncertain, I'm finding it difficult to keep going with the same optimism. I just want some stability, genuine connections, and a reason to feel hopeful about my future.

I needed to vent because I'm genuinely scared and exhausted from carrying all these worries alone.

AskChennai What are some positive aspects of Tamil culture, history, and society that reflect the empowerment of women?

I’d really love to learn more about the positive aspects of Tamil culture, especially when it comes to women’s empowerment.

A friend from Kallakurichi introduced me to the Five Great Epics of Tamil literature, which feature several powerful female characters. He also told me about remarkable women like Avvaiyar, Velu Nachiyar, and Karaikkal Ammaiyar. I’ve also noticed that women working and contributing to their families and society is quite prominent in Tamil culture.

I’d love to understand more about the everyday lives of Tamil people and how their culture, traditions, and social practices empower women.

Rant Privacy in India is a Joke and I am furious

Last month I missed my credit card payment because things were tight financially. I paid what I could, which was less than the minimum due. That was literally everything in my account.

Before the due date, I emailed the bank explaining my situation. I told them I might not be able to pay the full amount this time, but I had no intention of defaulting. I'm expecting some money soon, so I said I'd clear the full amount by the end of this month.

No reply from the bank. Instead, a recovery agent started following up with me on WhatsApp and calls. I explained everything to him. At first he was fine with it. He said if I pay by month end, my file stays with him.

A week later, my friends and relatives started getting calls from him. He was telling them I'm a defaulter and asking if they could set up a conference call so he could talk to me. The thing is, I never ignored a single call or message from him. I get that he's probably under pressure from his manager and this is a shame tactic to push the payment.

What I can't understand is how he got their numbers in the first place. I never gave any of them as references. That felt shady, so I started digging into how recovery agents find people's contacts.

I came across a YouTube video showing a Telegram bot that pulls up Aadhaar, PAN and address details from just a mobile number. I tried it with mine. I was shocked at how accurate it was. It had my Aadhaar, PAN, address, even my friends' phone numbers.

At first I thought maybe this was on me. Maybe I gave access to some app or site I shouldn't have. Then my friends and colleagues tried it with their numbers. Same thing. Accurate details for all of them.

After the recent eMudhra incident and all the government data breaches, I've honestly lost trust that my data is safe with the government.

I've reported the bot to Telegram, filed a cyber complaint, and complained to the RBI Ombudsman about the agent calling my relatives. I'm doing my part, but I'm pretty sure all of these will be closed without any real resolution.

I'm saying this out of frustration, but I'm glad my startup operates outside India, even if it means paying higher fixed charges every month.

I am not going to reveal the bot name as it poses a serious privacy risk.

Edit: I am getting multiple DM’s asking for the bot name. I am not sharing the bot name. Even though I have minimal trust on cybercrime resolving this issue, it is the best way to deal with it as of now.

AskChennai How can I get a TACTV government cable connection in Chennai when my local operator has switched to private set-top boxes?

Hi everyone,

I live in Chennai, and I want to get a traditional cable TV connection through TACTV.

My street's local cable operator has switched to providing private set-top boxes instead of the government cable TV network. I don't want to use SCV or private IPTV services.

Currently, I use the TV service bundled with JioFiber, but whenever the internet goes down, my TV stops working too. I want to return to traditional cable TV, which works independently of my broadband connection. This iptv technology is the worst

Can I get a new TACTV cable connection in Chennai even if my local cable operator no longer provides it?

I'd appreciate advice from anyone who has recently obtained a TACTV connection in Chennai.

Thanks!
