Recommendation Restaurants that serve these psoriasis french fries

Does anyone have recommendations on where to buy this specific type of fries in the area? I don’t know what the secret is, but they have lots of crispy crunchy bits on the outside. Very tasty. Please let me know if you know of any places to get them!

Recommendation Do not use All my sons moving company

I just want to create this as a PSA, because I wish I heard that before using their service. My experience was a complete disaster.

Not only the movers were slow, taking cigarette breaks every 15 minutes, dragging their feet, they also damaged a lot the house I was moving from.

Then they disappeared for an hour and 20 minutes for lunch break. They also left a piece of furniture behind that my husband and I had to carry down the stairs on a later date.

When they got to the house we were unloading, they called the billing department (before finishing the job) to quote us on the job. They wanted to charge us for their lunch break, they charged us ridiculous fees for tapes and materials and the billing lady was EXTREMELY rude when we started to ask them to breakdown the costs.

MY MOVE TO A HOUSE 7 MINUTES AWAY FROM MY PREVIOUS HOUSE ENDED UP COSTING MORE THAN MY MOVE FROM CT TO NC.

We had to get an extension from the rental we were moving from to be able to repair all the damage left and when we raised a complaint with them, provided pictures of the damaged areas, they came back to pay $300 bucks. Which also had no transparency on how they came to this dollar amount.

Please avoid their services at all costs.

Recommendation Rhino Market… woah momma

So I’m new to Charlotte.. moved here for a fresh start last year. Anyway, and this might be because I’m fresh out the Marines and just enjoyed my first joint since 2020 and am feeling extraordinarily jolly. But why the FUCK is rhino market in south end such a fuckin vibe? Les Fleurs blasting on speakers, panthers game on the Telly, Sicilian sammy in my hand, sunny Sunday… this place is a blast.

Recommendation Moved here from San Antonio and feeling disappointment/regret. Help me find the good spots.

I moved here from San Antonio for my husband's job. I love that San Antonio is a big city, but not TOO big. It has everything you could want - big city amenities, lots of fun things to do, good food, a vibrant downtown, etc, without the traffic and craziness of cities like Chicago and Atlanta. Since SA and Charlotte are similar in size and population, I assumed Charlotte would be very similar to SA.

But I've been here for 3 months now and feel so depressed. Charlotte feels like a small town to me. The downtown isn't great. There really isn't a whole lot to do. I miss feeling like I live in a CITY. I loved going downtown in San Antonio at night and just walking around, people watching, grabbing a bite to eat, feeling the festive big city vibes, etc.

Where can I go in Charlotte to feel this again? I live in Ballantyne, BTW. But am willing to drive 30-40 minutes to find places like what I described above. Or will I not find that here?

ETA: When I say I live in Ballantyne, that just means that's where my house is. When I was in San Antonio, I also lived in a very suburban part of town, about 30 mins from downtown. But when I got in my car, left my neighborhood, and drove around the city, it felt like a city. There were a lot of things to do. Downtown was very large, vibrant, and full of energy. I just haven't found that same energy anywhere here, and neither do I find much to do when I do Google searches or ask around for "things to do in the Charlotte area."

Figured I needed to clarify this, because a lot of folks are saying that I'm just bored because I live in Ballantyne, like I don't have a car or venture out into the city lol.

Anyway, many here have recommended a few small areas (noda, south end, milwood, etc), so I will check those out.

Recommendation Where’s the most life altering sandwich in Charlotte?

I’m convinced every city has at least one life-changing sandwich spot. Like the type of sandwich that ruins all other sandwiches for at least a month. Where is that in Charlotte?

Hey yall!! 👋🏼 28/F here!

I’ve been in Charlotte for over 10 years and love this city so much… I was sadly laid off recently from my full time role with Epic Games (they laid off their entire US 🇺🇸 team of 1,500+ people to move to Mexico to pay lower wages— don’t you love corporate greed!?!😡)

Anyways… i finally have time to put a little more effort into what I love doing most— being a textile artist and making super awesome and unique rugs!!!!

I’m really trying to see if this might work out for me as a full time gig at the moment until I find something else that tickles my soul! 👀🥳

I give amazing prices to local and other small business in and around the Charlotte area!!! I can also ship domestically and internationally as well!

If you have even an extra 2 minutes today— it would help a girly out if you’d give me a follow and check out my work!!!

➡️ My Instagram Art Page is: @sk_rugz

If you’re interested in commissioning a piece it would mean the WORLD to be right now as my doggo and I are struggling to keep afloat due to the job loss…

My work speaks for itself and I’m truly so in love with the reactions and surprise they bring people! They are also the BEST gifts ever, too!!! Super unique, one of a kind, and unexpected!🤩🥳🥰

They are completely handmade and carved with SOOO much love from start to finish— made of 100% wool yarn & the highest quality rug adhesives!!! Made to last forever if taken care of!

I can do anything your mind can dream of and sizing goes from 2.5 x 2.5 feet up to 7x6 feet! 👣

Would love love love any help in spreading the word! Shoot me a message on my Instagram page or here on Reddit if you’re interested!!!!

You guys rock! Hope everyone is having a fantastic week🤗💪🏼🧶⚡️

Recommendation Safe places to park to sleep in my car

I’m freshly homeless due to falling for a rental scam and only have enough for a few more nights in a hotel, but will be on my own starting Monday. Are there any safe places I can park my car to sleep in it where I won’t be at risk of getting towed or broken into?

I have a planet fitness membership but they’re only 24/7 Tues-Thurs, so I need somewhere for all the other days. Im not sure how many weeks I’ll be in my car for, but it’ll be less than a month.

My first thought is maybe the Atrium emergency room parking deck, since it’s relatively cheap to park there, open 24/7, and I can go inside the hospital if I need to use the restroom. I’m open to all suggestions

Recommendation Looking for a roommate in ballantyne

Post image
385 Upvotes

Currently living in fort mill, will be moving to ballantyne in September. Just found out my current roommate won't be able to make the move. My office moved to one of the corporate buildings in ballantyne corporate parkway near the bowl. I don't drive so I need to stay as close to the office as possible to save on daily Uber expenses. I understand the apartments around that area are on the pricier side, but the split should make it about $1300 per person.

Please feel free to reach out/comment and I will share my profile with full details.

EDIT cause suggestions:

I'm 32F, single. From India. Been in the country almost a decade now, and in the Charlotte area some 5 years. No pets, don't mind if you do, as long as they don't come into my room. I'm 95% in my room. No guests from my end, don't mind if you do. I don't smoke. We can figure out how to go about communal area furniture and how to split. I don't mind if it's a 3bed/2bath situation where the two other roommates share the bath or 2bed/2bath where we have our own bath. I would like to have that master bed, and willing to share the rent 55/45. Bills split will be 50/50. I will maintain a spreadsheet updated each month, that will be shared with recipts. I don't have a preference for age/gender/ethnicity as long as your share is paid. I have lived with all.

Cons - I might meal prep on the weekends with mild Indian spices (I'm not sure yet). I also might play slightly loud music in my room sometimes

Education: Graduated with my second masters in 2023. I'm planning to get my doctorate soon, so that means even less time in the apartment.

Work: Typical 8-5, 5 days a week. I don't have a social life and could potentially have one, when I move. I'm just in my room for the weekends.

Lease: I prefer to be the primary applicant of the lease, as I'm anal about paying everything on time. You will also be added on the lease, as a secondary applicant. You can pay me the agreed amount by the 10th of each month, depending on your convenience.

Recommendation Good dispensaries for full ounces

Delete if not allowed

My go to closed and it had the best deals on full ounces/bigger buys. I’ve been hopping around places but I’ve found a lot of places that just sell pre-packed 8ths or maybe Qs but have been struggling to find places better for buying in bulk. I smoke a lot and feel silly buying 6 little bags and don’t feel like going every week.

Any suggestions on good places for the thrifty stoners

Edit: I hope all of your pillows are COLD on BOTH SIDES EVERY NIGHT

Recommendation What $10 gets you at Taqueria La Unica Monroe

Post image

Just wanted to make an appreciation post for my favorite Mexican restaurant around. I know it isn't exactly close to Charlotte, but it is so worth the drive.

The chips, salsas, and queso come out to your table for free. The salsas are all SO good and fresh.

I ordered the lunch Enchiladas Suizas here for $9.50. They have excellent carne asada tacos too... Really, everything is amazing.

Recommendation Visit Asheville they still need help

I went to Asheville this weekend and could not believe how uncrowded it was. Parts of Biltmore Village are still closed, but the downtown area is same as it ever was. Everywhere we went shop keepers, bartenders, and waitstaff we’re telling us how appreciative they were that we were there. Even had someone say “Charlotte saved us” because we are the first to venture back after the hurricane.

Recommendation My List of Things to do in Charlotte

**Edit** I've updated the list, adding most, but not all recommendations. I don't want to oversaturate it. Thank you everyone for your input. The biggest missed spots were definitely Noble Smoke, McCoys, and Villani's, so thank you for that. I also removed some spots for being unpopular picks.

In Total:

144 places to eat/drink

76 places to visit

Hope this list is helpful for those visiting, moving or even those who already live in Charlotte and potentially missed some of these. Can't wait to make Charlotte home!

I marked the places at the top of my list in bold. This could be because of the number of recommendations or it just interests me personally.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________

My wife and I are relocating to Charlotte in August. We're in our late 20s/early 30s and love good food, being outdoors, and sports (more just me). Recommendation Best Coffee Shop for a avid coffee drinker

I've lived in Charlotte more than enough time to know of the big names in the coffee scene, for example HEX Coffee in Camp North End, or Fly Kid Fly in the Ballantyne area. However, I feel like there is a plethora of ones that I haven't been too, or haven't noticed. I'm looking for a coffee shop that would be in similar comparisons to how HEX is, where there is some type of "coffee snobbery" going on, not to say that's what I'm driving for, but for somewhere that has some serious coffee knowledge, not just somewhere I can find an average latte for a Instagram photo.

Thanks yall!

Recommendation Service to “Roach-Proof” My Apartment

The greatest horrors about living in the south are the gigantic, puppy-sized roaches that yall call “water bugs”. The sight of them crawling along my apartment floors makes my skin crawl. My apartment performs pest control, but still see at least one of these monsters every other day. Is there any service that exists that can prevent them from coming inside? Someone that can improve weather-stripping, door sweeps, fill all gaps, plumbing gaps, check windows etc? I’m ready to find a new apartment at this point.

Recommendation Making Friends As An Adult Sucks

Alright CLT, being vulnerable here,I need some advice or ideas. I’m a 30 y/o guy with not many friends in Charlotte since most of my friends have either moved away or were lost when me and my ex split a couple years ago. I’m naturally introverted and enjoy spending time at home watching tv and hanging with my animals. Making friends as an adult sucks. Dating in your 30s sucks. Does anyone have advice or ideas on how to just make friends as an adult. The bar/drinking/party scene is not really my thing. How can I find out about clubs or happenings in Charlotte? Going places alone sucks and that’s probably one of the most difficult parts.

Recommendation Has anyone removed an LMS Parking boot themselves?

My car was recently booted at my apartment complex and the leasing office basically told me it was out of their control and I still had to pay because LMS has to come remove it. apparently I would get a “resident discount” but I would still have to pay around $300. like pls fuck off 😭

has anyone removed an LMS boot themselves? if so, what happened afterwards? what did you do with the boot? did you contact LMS and tell them to pick it up, return it yourself, or leave it where it was? Were you charged, reported, booted again, or towed afterward?
I want to return it, undamaged of course, because I’m not trying to steal or damage their property. I would’ve accepted the fee if I had parked somewhere random but this happened where I live and pay rent every month. My car is registered with the complex and they don’t even use parking stickers!!! someone please help

Recommendation There are few stations left with gas under $4/gal; even Costco is at $3.97 - fill 'er up if you see one, it's not going to last long.

I recently tried 500 degrees on South Blvd., which is supposed to be NY style pizza and honestly it was pretty good! I’m from NJ (I’m not trying to be that snob), but obviously pizza here is different. This pizza was definitely a solid 8/10 and similar to NJ pizza. It’s pretty affordable too overall for a pizza shop. Just thought I would recommend for anyone looking for similar style to up north pizza.

Recommendation Anyone else find dating in Charlotte a little confusing?

Separated after many years of marriage and apparently dating has had about 37 software updates since I was last single. 😂

So, Charlotte people with some successes…what’s the move these days? Apps, meeting people in the wild, or did I miss another update? TIA
