Info Has anyone had an hcg that actually only DOUBLED early on and led to a healthy pregnancy?

Tw talk of previous MC

So I know the rule of thumb is doubling in 48 hours until it’s above a certain hcg and then 72-96 hours becomes okay.

However, as I comb through many posts, it seems like all the successful pregnancies triple if not quadruple in the early days. With my first pregnancy I didn’t get two betas, only 1 at 5w0d which was 10,800 but her tests were SO dark that I’m sure my hcg was multiplying fast. My son’s hcg’s also almost quadrupled - 56 to 198 in 48 hours.

I had a chemical which the hcg went up to 21 and immediately came back down. My missed miscarriage is the one that I just barely doubled in 48 hours (71 to 140 in 48 hours) but then as my hcg got higher, it actually doubled faster for a while increasing to a 36 hour doubling time. It eventually slowed to 96 hours.

All of this to say it ended up being a missed miscarriage after heartbeat was seen 3x, measuring to the correct day each time. Testing confirmed T21. So now I’m convinced if my hcg doesn’t triple or quadruple (in early DPO - like 12 —> 16)it’s a sign of something wrong.

Info A positive story about lower HCG

Hello all! I posted a while back about how my numbers were slightly concerning. I just wanted to post a little update that it really turned around, and that there is currently no cause for concern. I figured a positive update can only be good for others information, and people searching.

I am 34, have PCOS, and wasn’t ovulating naturally. I had my IUD removed around 4 years ago, but only really stated seriously trying with a fertility clinic in Nov. 2025. I tried 3 cycles of Letrozole, combined with Ovidrel trigger shot. The second cycle was aborted and I never did the trigger- unfortunately my father passed so I wasn’t able to do the monitoring required. On the third cycle, I was told to test 5/6, and it was negative. I had been taking them prior, watching the line fade from the ovidrel to nothing. I figured it unfortunately did not work again, but I was going on a trip to a music festival so I tried again JUST to be sure on 5/7. I got an extremely light positive!! I was lucky enough to go in the same day for a blood test. My hcg came back at 22.8. Two days later (5/9,) it was 32.4, which concerned the clinic. I was convinced it wouldn’t be viable. Come 5/11, I was on my way out of town for the trip, but was able to get blood drawn just before leaving. It came back at 78.63! We were cautiously optimistic.

The numbers caught up pretty quickly with doubling times after this, and they scheduled an ultrasound for 5/27. I’m extremely pleased to say we saw the little heartbeat, and baby is measuring perfectly at 6w4d. Only two days behind the 6w6d from my LMP! I’ll post the actual numbers below, but I just wanted to share a bright spot, and hopefully someone else will find this one day and have a little hope. I am sending baby vibes to everyone here, and hope you all have great outcomes! I know my story is “easier” compared to some, and fingers crossed I won’t have a loss, but I hope that for anyone else reading this too.

May 7, 13DPO: 22.8

May 9, 15DPO: 32.4

May 11, 17DPO: 78.46

May 19, 25DPO: 2063

May 21, 27DPO: 4298

May 27: Baby measuring at 6w4d with HR of 127. (Or 117, I was so excited I can’t remember haha!) The ultrasound looks like a tiiiiny kidney bean, and I know I’m not out of the woods yet so to speak, but it’s my lil bean and I am so excited.

Info Chemical pregnancy

I’m not sure if this post is allowed, sorry in advance.

Hi! My first pregnancy from a medicated cycle ended in a chemical pregnancy at 5 weeks. I had a normal period afterward (a bit more painful and heavier, but nothing crazy).

I started medication again this cycle, and after going through a tough time emotionally, I could really use some encouragement from those who’ve had success after a chemical pregnancy. Were you able to conceive the following cycle? Or how long did it take you to get pregnant again?

I know it’s “a good sign” that I was able to conceive, even though I lost it, because at least I know my body can get pregnant.

Thank you, I’ll be reading you :)

Edit: I want to thank everyone who commented on this post! I hope it can help someone feel better at some point, it helped me. If you’re going through something like this and looking for posts, I hope you come across this one. And if I manage to get pregnant successfully at some point, I’ll update here :)

Info When did you get pregnant again after a miscarriage?

I’m on my second cycle post D&C. The first cycle was super weird and irregular. This cycle my period length was normal but ovulation happened much later than expected - and was proceeded by NINE days of “high” readings by my Clearblue OPKs (I was losing my mind, but also cross referencing with pre-mom). Now, I’m two days post period arriving but 5 tests have confirmed I’m not pregnant. I know I need to relax, but this is all I think about all day every day. Can anyone share what their experience was like? When do things become normal again? I want it to happen so bad 😔. I’m starting to track BBT now too in addition to the three different apps I use and two different OPK test strips (yes I feel as insane as it all sounds).

Info Hematoma or Miscarriage?

UPDATE: They believe it was a hematoma. Baby looked healthy and measured 8w,1d with good heart rate. Thank you for the prayers and well wishes! Happy this had a happy ending and may help others in similar positions 💗

I’m almost 8 weeks and I woke up in the middle of the night feeling like I maybe peed my pants or something. I realized that it was blood. It was almost like it was mixed with some other cm clear fluid because (I know TMI but didn’t smell like blood— when I woke up because of it I felt my pants and smelled because I thought it was pee). When I went to the bathroom there was bright red blood and then I passed a tablespoon jelly like clot. I would call it a gush of blood/liquid essentially and then a jelly like clot. After that, bleeding stopped. I had mild cramping/gas pains, but no severe cramping or anything. When I woke up this morning I wiped and there was a little brown on the toilet paper but no more red blood. I have an appointment at 11am for ultrasound. We saw baby and heart beat measuring 7w,1d (2 days ahead of LMP) last week. Hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. Is there any way this could be a hematoma or does it sound like a miscarriage? Prayers accepted.

edited that I have had no spotting or bleeding besides this one gush in middle of the night

Info Emergency d&c

TMI warning. I experienced my first missed miscarriage, they confirmed Wednesday. They were set to for the d&c on Tuesday. I stopped taking the progesterone thinking this is over what's the point.

I had been feeling fine and was planning to take the kids to Legoland. We had a fun day at the pool and I headed back to the hotel with my husband to check in while the boys were with my sister.

As soon as I was a couple of feet to the hotel door I felt a gush of blood. I felt my shorts and my hand was filled with blood. I ran to the bathroom started getting undressed and I started gushing more. It was wild. I stepped into the bathtub. Just a stream of blood and clots. Non stop for an hour. I wasn't sure whether to go to ER or not. I ended up listening to my sister and went to the ER. I had soaked through a pad and period underwear on the 20 min ride. As soon as I checked in I felt like a clot was passing and went to the bathroom. Again blood everywhere. They put me in right away. I kept losing blood, they were checking blood work and my blood. First one looked good. I stood up to change my pad again and I felt like throwing up and I couldn't breathe. I had to sit down and put oxygen. Again I was laying there, a different RN came in. He was going to check my blood again and it hit me again. I couldn't breathe, I was sweating, I was cold, and I felt like blood was rushing out of me. The OB came in and said he was going to perform the D&C and I was going to be ok. They gave me blood and more fluids. I started feeling better. Took me up to prep for surgery. Again there I got a little clammy and I felt the blood rushing out. They finally took me into surgery, everything went so fast. I felt better immediately.

I still have some soreness but very little blood. I am very happy I went to the hospital. I felt fine the entire time at home but I got scared when the blood didn't stop and had giant clots.

Listen to your body.

Info Twin moms: What were your levels?

I’ve gotten some questions from others on Reddit that suggest I could be having twins, and wanted to see how my levels compared to moms who had twins. I know it’s not medical advice, I’m just so curious, and even if you had just one baby I’m also curious. This is my first pregnancy so it’s all very interesting to me.

First, my preg test was VERY dark (as dark as test line) at 10 DPO.

Then, my progesterone was at 34 and my hCG was 379 at 13 DPO (3w+6). hCG went up to 719 43 hours later.

I’m only 4w+5 today so I know I’m super early to even be thinking twins, but I’d love to know what others experienced!

Info TW: Positive Outcome - Heavy Bleeding at 6 Weeks

TW: Positive Outcome

I’m making this post in hopes that it may help or reassure someone who experiences bleeding during early pregnancy.

Yesterday, at 6w0d, I suddenly started bleeding heavily. I got up from my chair during a break at work and felt something, so I went to the washroom. When I wiped, the tissue was filled with bright red blood.

I immediately contacted my fertility clinic and put on a pad. The bleeding became quite heavy, and over the next several hours I passed multiple clots — two very large clots and a few smaller ones. The bleeding lasted for about 7 hours before eventually slowing down and turning into spotting.

I was absolutely devastated and convinced that I was losing the pregnancy.

The nursing team at my fertility clinic asked me to come in today for an ultrasound. Thankfully, they were able to see the gestational sac, yolk sac, and a flicker of cardiac activity. The baby was also measuring appropriately for how far along I am.

The PA then showed me an area on the ultrasound that was a subchorionic hematoma (SCH), which was the likely source of the bleeding. She explained that SCHs are very common, particularly in early pregnancy.

Obviously, we know we’re not out of the woods yet, as is the case with any early pregnancy — and after IVF, it can be especially difficult not to worry about every little thing. But for today, our baby is there, measuring appropriately, with cardiac activity. And for now, we have hope. ❤️

I wanted to share this for anyone who might find themselves searching Reddit in a panic after experiencing heavy bleeding or passing clots in early pregnancy. Bleeding can be terrifying, but it does not always mean miscarriage. Please contact your clinic or healthcare provider if it happens to you, but know that there can be other explanations too.

I know reading positive-outcome posts helped me while I was terrified and waiting for my ultrasound, so I hope this post can do the same for someone else. ❤️

Info ER ultrasound OBGYN ultrasound

Hey guys! Currently in my 3rd pregnancy since December, and due to the back to back losses my anxiety is through the roof.

I started spotting on Thursday and immediately thought it was the beginning of another loss, we were instructed to go to the ER to get checked out and idk if it’s the. Same everywhere but where I’m at, you can’t even see the screen for the ultrasounds, listen to a heartbeat if one is found, and they can’t answer any questions at all-not even if anything is seen, much less if a heartbeat is detected. At one point she called in her senior tech to help with something, which also caused panic.
I have long irregular cycles, and we got pregnant after my first cycle following my last miscarriage. So things were extra wonky and I already assumed I was actually probably a week earlier than the estimate based on LMP. But baby was measuring even further behind and diagnosed with fetal bradycardia.

I have an ultrasound with my OB tmrw to
See if there’s a heart rate increase and any growth, but have heard ER ultrasounds can be much less accurate than OB ultrasounds.

Anyone had an ER ultrasound that was measuring significantly different than an OB ultrasound?

Looking for a little
Hope and optimism 💜✨

Info Small update on Low/slow HCG: good ultrasound

Hello everyone! I have been posting recently because of my low and slow hCG. My husband and I have been mourning the baby that we are still pregnant with kind of wait for the loss. We went to a family physician because we could not see the OB/GYN and they expressed that we were still in the race so they could not confirm either way at this point.

We had a boutique ultrasound scheduled and went ahead, expecting to see nothing. But she actually saw the embryo and even a little nub of a future limb. The baby has a heartbeat of 150. Our initial estimate based off my last period Was seven weeks and four days but I have PCOS and my period has been late every month since tracking over the past year so it is very likely that the baby is actually younger than we think. Last check of hCG was 4000.

My OB/GYN mother-in-law is completely convinced that we are now in the clear because we got the good heartbeat and is not worried about the hCG anymore. But when we we’re looking online, I’m mostly seeing stories about people who had a later loss following these kind of numbers. And then I see reports generally that say to follow the ultrasound over the hCG. I’m just wondering if anyone has had a successful pregnancy following low and slow hCG and strong heartbeat, ultrasound.

Edit to add: just found light pink bleeding upon wiping. Nothing in my underwear or toilet. Considering ER visit maybe in the morning since it’s midnight. I’ll try to update at least for future worried folks googling their own symptoms.

Edit to Add. Gestational sac is measuring behind embryo. Family med physician who oversaw the US didn’t say anything but I saw it in the chart and the Dx of uncertain viability. They literally messaged me congratulations. My husband and I are calculating the difference as 1.7 mm and I’m learning 5 mm is what’s needed. The doctors just didn’t know or just weren’t going to tell me.

Info Progesterone pessaries?

Im 6.5 weeks and just saw baby for the first time today 🥹 heartbeat strong and measuring fine. Coming of two consecutive losses; so OB has prescribed progesterone pessaries in the case that I have a bleed. Has anyone had experience taking these? Do they help support early pregnancy? I’ve also heard some people take progesterone tablets/injections, but I wasn’t offered these.

Info Is a vvvvvvfl 12 dpo viable?

I had an ultrasound on the 9th that confirmed ovulation had recently occurred and according
to ovulation test strips it would have happened on the 7th so I am most likely 12 dpo but absolutely no earlier than 11 dpo. I took a test this morning and think it might be the faintesttttttt line like honestly it’s probably an indent or shadow anyways but if it does happen to get darker tomorrow, is there a chance this could still be viable? I always hear better success stories when people get their faint positives 8-10 dpo.

Edit to add: this was with FMU on a wondfo early result so it would be very sensitive

Info Late fetal pole visibility with a retroverted/tilted uterus?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for experiences from anyone who had a retroverted/tilted uterus (towards the spine) and had a late fetal pole show up.

My first scan at around 5.2 weeks showed a gestational sac but no yolk sac or fetal pole. On my repeat scan 12 days later, a yolk sac was visible, but still no definite fetal pole. My doctor also mentioned that my uterus is tilted backward.

Did anyone with a retroverted uterus have a fetal pole/heartbeat appear later than expected because visualization was difficult?

Info 4w2D and HCG is 150... Is that too low?

Hey everyone!

I am currently pregnant with my 6th pregnancy (only 1 living child, born 2019). Today I got my HCG back and it was 150, I know doubling is what matters but I want to hear from others if it's good and any success stories. My last pregnancy my numbers were suuuuper high but the baby never developed and they ended up having a rare chromosomal defect. Those numbers were over 4k at 4w, I am just very nervous.

Info 4w0d HCG testing

Its my first post!

I have done my HCG Oct 8th (4w0d 14dpo), and it came back with 205 iu/L! I thought numbers are okay?

The range for 4th weeks shows 10-750 (as per my report)

Found out 3w1d 8dpo Vvvvvvvfl! 9dpo was way visible! Lines are progressing since then.

I would like to see/know what your levels were at 4wks ish? I know everyone is different. Im a curious cat 🤣

And to add, my doctor doesn’t want to do a 48 hour test to see it double as she knows how much anxiety I already have!

Info 7 Weeks Pregnant — Small Gestational Sac, Slow-Rising hCG, Enlarging SCH, but Strong Heartbeat. Any Success Stories?

Hi everyone! I’m 31, pregnant with my first baby, and hoping to hear from others with similar experiences.
October 14: Ultrasound showed an 11.6 mm gestational sac and yolk sac but no fetal pole.
October 20: Baby measured 6w3d with a heartbeat of 139 bpm. My hCG was 2,218.
October 24: Repeat ultrasound showed continued embryonic growth and a heartbeat of 145 bpm. However, my hCG only increased to 2,731 (23.1% over four days). Im seven weeks now

My doctors are concerned about my small gestational sac relative to the embryo and slow-rising hCG. Its only a 2mm difference I also have a subchorionic hematoma (SCH) measuring approximately 1.9 cm that has increased in size, causing intermittent bright red bleeding, occasional small clots, and mild cramping.
Thankfully, my cervix remains closed, and my baby continues growing with a strong heartbeat. My doctors described the ultrasound as promising but recommended continued monitoring.
Has anyone experienced extremely slow-rising hCG despite a strong fetal heartbeat? Did your gestational sac eventually catch up? Has anyone had an enlarging SCH that eventually resolved?
My next ultrasound is Thursday. I’m trying to stay positive, but mentally preparing for the worst has been emotionally exhausting. I’d appreciate hearing both positive and difficult experiences. ❤️

Had 2 back to back CPs April and May. Now taking vaginal progesterone suppositories with the hopes that could make baby stick. My LP is consistently 11 days so I’m thinking there could be some benefits to this for me. Anyone have experience with this? Did it help? #exhausted

Info How much caffeine do you drink in a day while pregnant?

I know the recommendation is to consume less than 200mg of caffeine in a day, but how much are people actually drinking? I have some friends who cut out caffeine all together, some friends who drank a 200mg energy drink in a day, and some friends who just drank their morning coffee and cut out caffeine the rest of the day (so however much that is). So what’s everyone’s caffeine consumption look like while pregnant?

Info Can we share our pregnancy cramping?

What has everyone’s cramping journeys been like so far? I’m almost 4.5 weeks. Have initial overall cramping, and then the last 24 hours have additional one sided cramping. It feels somewhat similar to my corpus luteum cramping post ovulation that I’ve had before, but with my last pregnancy being an ectopic, I’m kind of freaking out.

For successful pregnancies/ones further along, did you experience one sided cramping, and can you share how they felt? This mama to be needs some hope.

My HCG draws every 48 hours (3 total so far) have more than doubled each time, so hanging on to that hope 🤞🏽

Pregnant after loss??

Helloooo!

I’m needing some advice for those who got pregnant after loss.

I lost on Sept 23. I didn’t track any sort of ovulation since then, but today, I got a positive pregnancy test but it’s weird.

My lines were trending down, so faint that if you showed a man, he’d say he couldn’t see anything. But for us with line eyes, could see a faint line.

Has anyone had a false positive? The test I took today was much darker than it has been over the last two weeks. Darker at the top of the test line, and lighter at the bottom. (Yes we’ve had sex)

Possible false positive??? Curious to know!

Info Progesterone very low, HCG rising very quickly

Hey all!

11DPO hcg was 40 and progesterone 1.7. At that time, OB said it is highly suspicious for a chemical pregnancy.

13DPO hcg is 290 (almost 5x higher). OB recommends another beta in 2 days.

I had what felt like a period from 8DPO-12DPO with lighter bleeding/spotting today (13DPO) No pain.

I am not looking for medical advice, but rather if anyone else has had more than doubling betas with almost no progesterone? How did it end up going?

Hi! I just had my first hCG bloodwork done.. I believe I’m around 5w3d.. I believe 19 or 20 DPO. It came back at 992.. is this okay? I will be having it taken again to assess if it doubles. Thanks in advanced!!
