Help/Advice: Showed up on my porch.

I went outside a couple mornings ago to let my dog out to pee and this rascal just appeared out of thin air, muddy and covered in bugs and bites, I’m assuming malnourished as well. I haven’t a clue how old he is nor how to take care of a kitten. (I did a lot of Google and YouTube though).

He has a vet appointment now on Thursday (soonest I could get him in). In the meantime I gave him as thorough a bath I could with Dawn dish soap (I know it works on ducks… hope it’s fine for cats) and gently picked all the bugs out of his fur.

I went to my local Walmart and got kitten branded wet and dry food and some bowls. He’s too small to get in a normal litter box so I just got some tin baking pans I’m using for now…

I haven’t had a cat. I don’t know what I’m doing, but he is inseparable from me after just a couple days so I guess he’s better off with me than on the streets.

I was rescuing this stray so I can bring her to the SPCA. Well, she's here to stay I guess 🫪..

She had been coming to my place for a few weeks so I started feeding her 2 weeks ago. Very very skittish. I was planning maybe to trap her and take her to the SPCA.

After some time she let me pet her. Then she let me pick her up and bring her inside without a fight. I didn't expect her to be like this, but she is literally the nicest cat I've ever met! What a darling she is. She absolutely adores being picked up and lovvveees her belly rubbed. I am so happy for her to be out of the cold.❤️

This is smeagol, she moved into our dilapidated barn this summer. Turns out she was pregnant. We started feeding her and she slowly let me pet her a little bit. She's sk sweet, she never once has scratched or bitten anyone. After she gave birth in the barn is moved the family inside in a tub. Smeagol just let me carry her and the 5 babies, no problem! She's taken to indoor life really well. She still has the option to go outside, but she always comes back in about 10 minutes.

Her 5 kittens are so adorable so I wanted to share them here. It's been so exciting to see them grow and learn to run jump and play.

Are you kitten me!! My brother messaged me asking if I wanted a random kitten that showed up

I had just finished taking my college midterms and saw a text from both my brother and his wife which was weird because they don’t text me for no reason. I responded and immediately they both sent a picture of a black kitten and said someone dumped a kitten in their yard. A black kitten. During October. So, my boyfriend and I loaded up a crate and got kitten food and went to my brothers. We now have another addition to the family! It’s been about two weeks now, and our other cat is finally coming around to him! Meet Momo!

Also he is outside in the second pic because that was the one my brother took.

Found this almost 6 week old kitten in a bush out front of my house, he was scared and ran into a neighbor's engine, I successfully extracted him in July, now he is an almost 20 week old handsome house cat! He had a few medical issues that have been cleared up and now lives in the comfort and peace of a home! He is a good boy!

He is now getting introduced to his older brothers - 2 4y/o boys - and they are taking to him well. Slow introductions, then he will have full reign of the house with King Richard and Master Donald - aka The Boys.

Awarded a Cat 2nd kitty awarded in 6 months!

I was previously awarded Noor - posted here https://www.reddit.com/r/CatDistributionSystem/s/4ToMIo7x2U

And I always wondered where his siblings or parents were. There is a male all white cat who frequents our car park although he’s too skittish to ever approach me. Never found mum or any other kittens.

In our car park, there’s an Airbnb on the ground floor with a sofa on the terrace. It’s typically used as a party Airbnb with lots of drug use and fights happening. We’ve had an almighty storm here in England and the first night, walking into the block, I see this little one curled up on the Airbnb sofa cuddled in between the cushions and meowing at me like she needed help. I couldn’t leave her out given the weather. So, off I went. Hijab in tact - scrambling onto this Airbnb terrace like some type of awkward ninja to get her.

Because I already have Noor in my studio apartment (that already doesn’t allow animals but 🤫) and he’s still got some health stuff we are working on, I had nowhere to put her without risking both of their health. Thankfully the caretaker said I could keep her temporarily in the maintenance cupboard opposite my apartment door!!!

Went to the vets, not chipped, and also… pregnant!
I’ll be damned if I let another batch of kittens be born out in this freezing English winter.

Spoke to some neighbours and they said she wouldn’t come near them even with food. But with me, I’ve never seen a more affectionate kitty. Whilst you’re stroking her, if she sees your spare hand idle, she rushes towards it and demands both hands stroking at all times 😂 she also does air biscuits - lying on her back, which I’m guessing is because her growing belly is uncomfortable for her bless her.

She couldn’t stay in the maintenance cupboard for long, so we managed to get her homed with an elderly lady who’s converted her home into a cat sanctuary. She had a few days bed and board with us, and then this morning went off to be with the crazy cat lady, where she will be very loved and looked after and her soon to arrive kittens will be rehomed ❤️

She would meow for me across the hall, and little Noor would sit by the front door and meow back to her. I can’t help but wonder if she’s either Mum, or maybe an older sibling. Either way, I’m honoured. Husband was giving me heavy side eye, as he’s only just come round to keeping Noor hahaha. But she’s in the best place possible now. Everyone wish her a healthy pregnancy and a long life with lots of loving ❤️

Now if the CDS may kindly use the postal redirect service?…

Smol Delivery The CDS swung into action after I shower-thought "I've never had a gray cat."

Meet Hamlint, so named because at first we weren’t sure if she would to be or not to be and because her baby-self looked just like a handful of dryer lint. The CDS gave her to us in June in the middle of the night, cold to the touch, huddled in bushes in a stadium parking lot’s landscaping which we were alerted to because a dog walker spotted her and posted hoping to find a rescuer. The emergency vet estimated she was 1.5-2 weeks old, noting multiple deep puncture wounds, speculated a predator had carried her off then dropped her. I went back the next day looking for mama and littermates but Hamlint was alone.

Several weeks doing round the clock feedings and medications, more vet visits, we lived in daily fear she wasn’t going to make it but she did. She lost most of her right ear to her early adventures but is healthy and the most fearless cat in the house.

Adding to the starter kit Need help! Is it right to get a cat?

Hello! I recently got a place of my own, and I always wanted a cat, but CDS seemed to ignore me. Until I visited my parents, who live three hours away from me, and their local grocery store is surrounded by four cats with no home of their own 😔 One of the cats was very affectionate, jumped on me and didn't want to leave my side, etc etc I fell in love, tale as old as time, now I think about her everyday. I already started planning giving away my plants since they are poisonous for cats, finding everything a cat might need, but I am in doubt, since I don't really know cats' psychology.

Doubt 1: What if these guys have already bonded?

Possible rebuttal: The cat I wanted to bring home doesn't eat when the other three are around, and they all keep their distance with each other. BUT! I think it is less lonely when they are in company? It will I will take away her chances to get social with other cats. And what if what she wants is their company 😭

Doubt 2: It will be a three hour drive to my place. I can't just put her in a carrier and expect her to be okay with a person she doesn't know in a carrier she has never seen before for three hours, to get separated from the life that's familiar to her. She is an adult! Or maybe pretty young, since she appeared pretty recently, might be 1 year old (3rd pic, unfortunately didn't take any good photos, I've spent 56 minutes with her purring on my hands, I was busy)

Doubt 3: The place is pretty good. It's a village, clean air, all of them are well fed, since it is easy to buy them new food, people care about them. Plenty of healthy activities, an ability to hunt, play with other cats.

Possible rebuttal: Harsh winters, might get to -30. All cats has already started hiding in homes, and they have none ☹️ My place is always warm and comfy.

Rebuttal to my rebuttal: I work 8 hours a day 5/2 SHE WILL GET BORED HOME ALONE

Unfortunately, I can only take in one sweet creature financially and my apartment isn't that spacious for more than one cat, hence the most doubts. Oh well. Need help!

PS tags and apologies: eng-is-not-my-first-language & no ai we die like men, hopefully I've chosen the correct community tags, sorry for such a long read...

Sensitive Content Found injured kitten & rushed him to surgery. Now we need him to trust us.

We found a kitten hiding in our friends car engine. The vet says he’s no older than 3 months. When we found him he smelled terrible and his mouth was covered in blood.

Long story short, he had a severe mouth injury. We took him same day to get surgery to fix it. They removed two teeth and said he should recover well. He’s very scared of humans but out up a huge fight to get away from us so he’s a scrapper for sure!

He has a bathroom to himself with a litter box, hides hole, scratching post etc.

I’ve read some posts on here and they are helpful. But the one thing that gives me pause is the hand feeding. Because he’s injured, we need him to eat as much as he wants and cannot feed him on a regular schedule.

In addition to the advice of gaining the trust of a feral kitten, what do you recommend when that kitten is severely injured and healing?

Thanks so much!

EDIT: we decided to name him Nico Robin because from his behavior, it seems like he really wants to live 💛

Awarded a Cat Found this little fox-like creature in our local trash

Hey everyone!

Yesterday while throwing the trash, there was a kitten around the communal bins. He was dirty, smelly, greasy, and was eating the grease off of a mcdonald packaging.

We picked him up because the nights are cold here, and been to the vet to scan for a chip. Picking him up was the easiest task in the world as he came to us by himself.

Apparently he has no chip, and his current poor state indicates that no one is taking care of him. He's also dehydrated, very hungry, and full of worms. His nose lacks fur which suggests that he's been snuffling through trash to find food for a while. The vet told us that this poor baby has no one, they're 100% confident about it. Then they told us we can either bring it home or call locals shelters to pick him up.

We already have a cat so we were worried about that, but the vet tested for aids and he's negative. The vet also gave him a quick check and deworm + anti parasitic juice so apparently he's all good and just needs care and love now.

We brought it home and put him in a room separately from our other cat for now, but they have already sniffed each other from below the door frame and already seem very curious about each other, sooo.. I guess we have two cats now?

I've been checking all my local facebooks to see if anyone was missing him but so far no result. We've seen other very similar kittens roaming the area and we think a cat mom had had them earlier this summer in the wild, and they've been left to fend for themselves since.

We cleaned this baby as we could and removed things stuck from his fur before pics, but he still smells of trash bins. Any tips for that?

Anyway here's this little boy from the trash, after he spent a night with us with a full belly in a warm blanket.
