Would love some input!!
Hi all!! We are a family of 4 a 6 year old and a one year old have booked to come to Cabo verde in November, flying to Sal is the cheapest from cork in Ireland so that’s our arrival and starting point.
We really would love to relax, watch sunsets swim and explore aswell.. the kids are well travelled and used of ferry and buses.
My thoughts is we relax around sal and enjoy the music and vibe at night as my 6 year old loves watching entertainment. And possibly tie in sai Vicente and sai antao? We will have two weeks in total.
Is it possible to get ferries? I see lots of blogs where they had no issues.
Also, eating in local places what should we expect to pay roughly?
Any input would be fab! I’ve watched every video at this point
Thanks
Helena

São Vicente and Santo Antão sound fascinating and are definitely on my bucket list too. While there is no direct ferry between Sal and São Vicente, the operator's website does show a connection via São Nicolão. It takes about 10 hours though, so you would be spending pretty much two full days of your vacation on the ferries, and the seas can get quite rough. Flights obviously are much quicker.
Keep in mind though that all inter-island connections are rather prone to delays and cancellations, and plan accordingly. If you do want to tie in São Vicente and Santo Antão, go there as early as possible after arriving on Sal and do the relaxing on Sal part at the end of your trip. That gives you plenty of leeway to catch your flight home from Sal even in case of any hitch with the inter-island travel. Plus, I think it's nice to have the chillest part of the holiday at the end.

We are open to apartments or hotels really, would love a pool with the children.
That’s what I am thinking also chill on Sal at the end. Any recommendations send them my way, super excited to try a new country1

On Sal, we were in Santa Maria and had a rather nice and spacious two-bedroom apartment at Villa ao Mar. No pool, but directly on the beach.
There is a very decent restaurant directly next door, Vista Mar. They have live music every day 5-7 pm, which we sometimes found a bit annoying if we just wanted to chill on our terrace. Some of the artists were really awesome though. Your 6 year old would probably love it and it is at a child-friendly time too.

We're on Sal with our kids right now. No ferry from Sal to São Vicente, you have to fly. The ferry from Mindelo to Santo Antão is easy though. Mindelo has great live music at night, your 6 year old will love it. On Sal the kids loved the turtle hatchlings, floating at Pedra de Lume and the little sharks at Shark Bay.
