[Megathread] 2026 BLACK FRIDAY SALES

It's a month to go until Black Friday 2026 and as we've done in previous years we'll consolidate everything in one topic rather than have hundreds of individual posts.

Questions about deals, BF pricing, and links to deals themselves once they appear, should all go in here.

Sort comments by 'new' to see the latest questions and deals first.

Please indicate currency and location/dealer details when sharing deals or pricing info, e.g. "(USD, B&H) R6 Mk II kit for...", to avoid causing unnecessary excitement in those using other dollar-based currencies (Maple-Dollars, Outback-Bucks etc).

Sub Announcement 2026 Posting & Flair Guidelines - read first, post after!

Important — r/canon is not a photo-sharing sub, it's primarily a gear discussion sub, and as such is not the place for sharing pics and videos captured with your Canon gear.

Exceptions exist for New Gear, Lens of the Week, and Showcase posts, but please see their respective sections below to understand when they can be posted and the requirements for doing so.

Likewise, we're not interested in posts sharing photos of Canon equipment (or worse, the boxes they came in)—your 50/1.2 looks the same as everybody else's—so outside of New Gear posts or those trying to problem solve a specific issue, topics showing gear aren't to be posted.

TLDR;

- No photo-sharing posts
- No photos-of-gear posts
- Use flair appropriately as detailed below

———

Post Flair

Gear Advice
For any post seeking recommendations from others about what camera, lens, or accessory, to buy or rent. Please follow the existing requirements when asking for recommendations. This is not for asking advice on how to use your equipment or solve a problem—for that, you can use...

Tech Help
Technical questions, clarification on how a feature works, error messages...fall under Tech Help.

New Gear
For showing off a new or new-to-you piece of equipment. As always, include a photo of the gear and a photo or three taken with the gear. Also include an explanation of why you got it and how you like using it.

Lens of the Week
We're consolidating down to a single flair any lens of the week post, rather than individual tags for different lenses or focal lengths. As always, look for the current lens of the week topic to know which optic or focal length is current.

Canon News
For product announcements or other Canon-specific or related news. Either provide a link directly to announcements and press releases, or to a recognised source reporting on it. Examples are sites like Petapixel, dpreview, and similarly known sites.

Active Deal
For posts alerting the community to sales from recognised outlets such as the Canon Refurb Store, B&H Photo, Lens Rentals etc. Titles need to begin with the applicable country, the supplier, and then a description of the discount or deal on offer, e.g.

[USA] Canon Refurb Store — R5 reduced to $2199 + free BG-R10 Battery Grip

Any other important details (start/expiry dates) can go into the body of the post. If including a link directly to the deal or supplier site, the URL must be stripped of affiliate and tracking data, or the post will be removed.

If a deal is highlighted from a supplier deemed by the mod team as suspicious, untrustworthy or unsavoury for some other reason, it will be removed.

When a deal is out of stock or expired, the flair needs to be updated to...

Expired Deal
Don't delete the post, just update to the Expired flair, then we can view older deals easily.

Showcase
This will only be made available to select when a post inviting the sub to make Showcase contributions is active.

New Gear Tammy 35mm f1.4 ef mount

So after much deliberation , I have picked up a Tammy 35mm .

Lens considered were canon 35mm L version 1, sigma art 35mm and couple of manual lenses like FD lenses etc .

Why I picked up Tammy , I don't know!! it felt good in my hands . Yes it's heavy and I realised it on my first walk in Tokyo ...but for a guy who roams with 70-200 f2.8 ef for 4 5 hours to click streets i don't mind this .

Canon 35mm L version 2 was not in my budget unfortunately . And the RF model for some reason was not in my radar , don't know why . ( I thought later about the 35mm rf 1.8 I mean ) .

The rendering from lens is really nice for what I like . I have used it on my r6 and 6d both . I asked the shop if they have updated the software which they had for mirrorless .

All in all i think I'll wait for sometime to upgrade into something new .

Gear Buying Advice Chasing Perfect Stars: What's the Ultimate RF Lens for astrophotography?

• Upvotes

I have a Canon R6 Mark III and I'm looking for a dedicated lens for Milky Way and astronomy photography.

Budget isn't really a concern. My top priorities are:

  • Excellent sharpness wide open
  • Strong edge and corner performance
  • Minimal astigmatism/coma on stars
  • Low vignetting and corner artifacts

The lenses I'm currently considering are:

  • Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM
  • Canon RF 14mm f/1.4L VCM
  • Canon RF 20mm f/1.4L VCM
  • Laowa 10mm f/2.8 Zero-D MF
  • Laowa 12mm f/2.8 Zero-D MF
  • Laowa 15mm f/2 Zero-D MF

If you had to choose one, which would it be and why?

Are there any other RF-mount options that you think would outperform these for astrophotography?

I'm mainly interested in image quality rather than autofocus, since most of my astro work will be done with manual focus.

Thank you!

Gear Buying Advice Canon C50 top handle “multi-function shoe” how to protect it

Post image
• Upvotes

As the title says, im looking for a “plug” of some sorts to protect the multi-function shoe, on the top handle side. Im often using the camera without it with the gimbal, weird thing is that the camera comes with a hot shoe plug, but not the top handle side. Any advice on how to store it properly, or maybe an equivalent version for it would be highly appreciated! Cannot find anything around…

I went to shoot for work on a cold and rainy day and 24 hours later there is still condensation/moisture/frost or something in my lens. Does anyone know how to get it out? Or how to remove the front part of the lens to wipe it off? It’s a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM

New Gear Surprised with the Kitlens

• Upvotes

I recently bought an old 1100D, and I'm just so happy that kitlens was able to get these kinds of shots.

I'd be happy to hear out if these can still be improved though, what would guys think?

Struggling to decide what camera to buy. R8 Mark 2 or R6 Mark 2 or something else?

• Upvotes

I have been going back and forth for actual months and every time I make up my mind it gets changed. I would love some advice.

My current camera is a Rebel T6, so any option would be a big upgrade. I have used this camera for 8 years but have outgrown it years ago. Was able to rent more professional cameras in college

Things I use my camera for: Travel, theme parks (local to Orlando, so always doing photography there), Portraits (not professional, but I was thinking I would like to start), Wildlife photography. Ultimate dream is to be a wildlife photographer

I was thinking no matter the camera I would purchase RF24-50 mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM and potentially RF200-800mm F6.3.9 IS USM. That one has always been my dream lens

I can basically get the R8 Mark 2 and R6 Mark 2 for very similar prices, and I know the R6 is the more capable camera. I am just concerned it's going to be too heavy. When I picked it up at Best Buy, it felt like it weighed a lot and considering I use it for travel and theme parks I worry

I know the R8 Mark 2 is very similar but the prices are so close to the same. I would probably pick that if it were cheaper. I know though that the battery isn't great. Is that a big concern? I also don't love that it's not weather sealed. I don't plan to take my camera in the rain, but with my T6 after a few years the text on the top of the camera faded off

With my current Rebel T6 the battery actually lasts awhile. Can take it 2 days traveling with me and it's fine.

I don't know what to do and would love some advice on what camera would suit me. Also if my lens sound like good choices. Not sure if im being financially responsible and should look at other options. This is going to be my first time purchasing my own camera/lens

Canon R6 II long term owners

How is the R6 II serving you guys?
I am buying one now instead of the newer models because the price is great and I can buy R6 II with RF 24-105, RF 100 macro and RF 35mm 1.8 for a price of new R6 III.
Of course all is used but like new, mint condition, Canon R6 II has 200 shots on the clock.

Gear Buying Advice Student discounts on buying canon r50?

Hi everyone, I’ve been recently trying to get back into photography by buying a new Canon R50, and wanted to know if there was any camera stores/sellers who do good student discounts. I don’t mind if I buy it new or used. Obviously if I buy it used I would love for a good condition but I really just want to save as much as I can. Is Black Friday good for deals as well? I don’t mind waiting. Also I am in the UK.

Gear Buying Advice Saving for big whites, 500 EF II / 300mm 2.8 II seem sharper than 600, cheaper

I have spent countless hours on this topic. 600 seems too close. I used an R5 and also have an R7 on the way and several older DSLRs. I want the 300 2.8 II for portraiture and also seeing the 1.4x combo on flickr w/R7 is excellent. But in terms of the longer lenses, the 500 IS II is lightweight, seems as sharp as my 400 5.6 even with the 1.4x on it, and significantly cheaper than the 600 II/III and the IQ seems unmatched on this mount.

Is this all correct? I have spent so many hours going through the-digital-pictures charts which in my experience reflect well on lenses that don't have high variance, like 24-105s or other low end L series zooms, older zooms etc. I was tempted by the RF 100-500, but I have used an EF 600 II adapted to my R5 and the autofocus seems almost as fast even adapted.

With the 300 2.8 II and the 1.4x the R7 gives you a ~670mm reach with F4 of relative light, images still look excellent, and the package total is light weight enough to handhold long term.

Looking for final inputs before I pull the trigger on the 300 2.8 II, after which I'll save for another few months and get the 500 IS II. This is my Canon platform end game for high end wildlife.

Tech Help Unique error with the R6 and Tamron A005 combo

Thumbnail drive.google.com
0 Upvotes

Happens time to time. The lens never acts up on other cameras, and the R6 is fine with all other lenses. Just this unique combo.

Another time it froze up the camera to the point the power switch did nothing, and replacing the battery didn't resolve anything until the 3rd try. I'm not bothered by this error as long as it's not doing lasting damage. The pattern in the live view is identical each time. Weird but pretty cool tbh.

Anyone else experience this?

Tech Help Having the weirdest problem with my Canon R100

so im trying to use this camera as a webcam, i thought it was be as simple as getting a capture card and running it through obs, so i bought a micro hdmi to hdmi cable and hooked everything up, when i run it through, elgato displays "no signal" and my cameras screen keeps flickering black. Im pretty sure i tried every setting at this point, as in the clean hdmi setting and turning off the wifi and bluetooth settings, nothing. This was all a crap ton of money but whats the best fix for this?

Camera recommendations?

Hey all, I've had a canon rebel t7 for about 2 years now and I think I'm ready to upgrade. I really want a mirrorless aps-c that's light and easy to walk around with. My budget is around $1600 and I would rather buy a camera body and lens separately instead of going with a kit lens. I want something that's a nice step up and something that will last me a good amount of time. Lens recommendations would also be nice. I mostly take photos while hiking and on nature walks, but not any crazy high zoom shots; mostly landscapes and shots of the trails I'm on. The 18-55 kit lens on my t7 is a good focal length for me, I'm just looking for an upgrade. I was sort of thinking maybe the canon r50 or Sony a6400 but I'd definitely appreciate some recommendations!

Do you think an RF24-105 F4 version 2 is a possibility soon?

The original one is nearing ten years old so I’m hesitant to get it. I have the EF version with the adapter. Maybe a mark ii would be the kit lens for r5 mark iii?

Tech Help (Non professional) Lenses jam

Whenever I try to zoom on my lens, it jams. It's happened once but went away. But now it's not going away this time and when I get to thirty five, there's a click sound. I can push it past that. But it's not smooth.

Camera for idol shooting

Hi! I’m planning to upgrade from my Canon 700D for idol and concert photography, but I’m a bit torn between the Canon RP, Canon R, and Canon R50.
My budget is pretty tight, and I usually rent lenses, so my entire budget would go toward the camera body.
Which one would you recommend? Are there any other options I should consider? I’d really appreciate your advice!

Canon PS G7X Mark III turns off when I try to connect via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi

so.. I have the 1.4.1 firmware of the Canon and the first pair went well. In a few hours I tried to reconnect to share a picture from camera to my phone and suddenly it wasn't possible. Cleared the camera settings, both wireless & base. Cleared it in the Canon App as well. Now when I try to connect it — my camera freeze and turns off. What can I do..?

[New Gear] I was planning to sell my R8 and lenses to switch to Sony. But after getting my hands on the A7V, I ended up buying two R6 Mark II bodies instead... All photos in this post were shot using the RF 85mm 1.4 VCM

I also considered getting the R6 III, but since I don’t shoot much video, I figured the R6 II would be more than enough for my needs. Turns out, I was right!

Is Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 HSM C a good 'do-all' lens for DSLR?

I'm looking for a zoom lens for my 70D to replace my ef-s 18-135mm kit lens. Budget is $500. I considered a standard f/2.8 zoom (like the 17-50mm class) but I want something with a little more reach. Something of a 'compromise' between a fast 17-50 and a superzoom.

My current top candidate is the Sigma 17-70mm 2.8/4 HSM Contemporary lens. From the reviews I've looked at, it seems to be a good compromise between a fast standard zoom and a superzoom like my kit.

Do you think the gains in sharpness and aperture over the 18-135mm would be worth the loss of reach on the long end? After looking at my photos over the past year, I found that I only went above 70mm focal length on my kit a very small percentage of shots, so I don't mind giving that up for a more focused zoom range if the image quality upgrade is noticeable on the shorter end.

Anyone have experience with the 17-70mm or similar lens? Is it pretty sharp?
