HOW LONG SHOULD YOU HAVE TO WAIT TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE AT ROGERS, BELL OR TELUS???
1,173 Canadians have signed. Now I'm taking this to the CRTC and Parliament.
A quick update for anyone who's followed the telecom customer-service discussion here.
This started with my experience trying to get help from Rogers. A 45-minute hold ended with a disconnection. Another long wait ended with a dropped transfer. On my third attempt, the main switchboard told me, "We have too many calls today, please try again another day."
I started a Change.org petition to find out whether this was an isolated experience. The response suggests it isn't.
My post in this community generated significant discussion, and the campaign has now reached 1,173 signatures.
I've since launched an official House of Commons e-petition calling for enforceable telecom customer-service standards, including a maximum 10-minute telephone wait to reach a human representative.

There's more happening, too. CBC Go Public is interviewing me this week, and on December 1 I'll be appearing before the CRTC as it considers Canada's consumer protection rules.
I'm not suggesting every problem can be solved in 10 minutes. I'm saying customers should be able to reach a human being who can start helping them.
If you've had similar experiences with Rogers, Bell, Telus or another provider, I'd be interested in hearing what happened.
And if you agree this needs to change, please consider signing the parliamentary petition. The goal is to turn widespread frustration into an enforceable standard, not just another round of complaints.
