I've been doing some early season rewatching and I gotta say, they may have lost track of what to do with her and "oh Patrick" may be a meme by now, but Shelagh remains my fave. I know the good Turnadette/Turner family episodes at this point, but as I watch through S2 I'm reminded of how amazing the relationship between Shelagh and Sr Julienne is. They have an incredible connection and I'm loving seeing them navigate the difficulties of S2 together. I'm trying to remember what later episodes have great moments for them- offhand IIRC the Christmas special with the vote for mother superior has some great stuff- anything else people recommend I check out from S3ish on?

I remember seeing a post a couple of weeks ago about other shows the actors are in. For me, Sister Evanageline will always be Ma Larkin. Anyway, I’m just rewatching the crown season one and Martin Charteris wife is played by Matthew’s wife, Fiona

Mine would easily be nurse Crane, hands down! close second would be nurse Beatrix Franklin. ❤️ And if those two were unavailable, it would be early days Lucille.

I just finished season 15 and I was not expecting for it to be so heartbreaking. Like I had already read spoilers about Sister Monica Joan, but dang. Her passing really got me. As did the montage at the end. Also I felt that some of the story lines in seasons 14 and 15 were incredibly rough, didn't you?

Like of course, I am one of those people who miss some of the whimsy of the previous seasons and of course I miss the the midwives of the past, but I also think that these last two seasons really held up.

Sister Veronica/Beryl and Geoffrey really carried.

But boy, am I sad to see Sister Monica Joan go.

Let's dish, what are we feeling about this season and the future of Call the Midwife? No one watches this with me. So I have no one, but you guys to talk to. lol.

Was Chumy in any of those pictures at the end? I paused as they went by. I was really hoping they would include her. She was my favorite midwife.

Will not give any spoilers, but one of my favorite parts of every season is how the writers try to kill off our dear nun, but she always seems to bounce back at the last minute.

Sister Julienne asks Nurse Highland if "this is something that has happened before"? "Are you speaking of racial prejudice?" And when Lucille was on, it was blatant in front of Shelagh and others.

As a POC, it makes me furious to think of how many times I have to just carry on when people are obviously affected by something as benign as the intensity of melanin in my skin. So often we just have to take it and pretend it's not affecting us in the moment.

I’ve just discovered All Creatures Great and Small (can’t believe this one passed me by all these years!). It’s like CTM but with vets instead of midwives, starts in the 30s and has the same feel-good energy to it, I’m obsessed!

I just cannot get over how many handmade pieces are on screen in this show!! Just sooo many cute pieces that were clearly made by hand. I just feel like I would love an “outlander” style book that has patterns of the knit/crochet items featured in the show.

If I were born around 1900, yes, I definitely think I could have been a nun, like sister Monica Joan.

If I were born in the 1930s, so the generation of Jenny Lee, Trixie, and Cynthia, I don’t think I would.

I am a mom of two teens now and I can’t imagine my life without them. So I probably couldn’t be a nun.

But I do see the sort of sisterhood the nuns have and it’s seems very comforting. Plus I like things like singing and compline, it’s seems peaceful and therapeutic.

Oh, and I should mention, I’m not a Christian, either.

So I am from a region that cant get the show, it's not on netflix, not on prime/amazon.
I had bbc on my tv and now its go e it used to run back to back episodes.

Dont know where I can watch call the midwife, I'm pregnant and with my last 5 years ago I had episodes downloaded on netflix from when I was traveling so it was my pregnancy show. Now I'm here and cant find it anywhere....

I saw the poofy sleeve option in Dressmaker and knew I had to recreate The London’s incredible uniform in early seasons!

“Not half something” means you are something, I think.

Like, “you are not half old-fashioned.”

Means “you’re quite old-fashioned.”

And “in hand” means “ i’ve got it taken care of.”

Which honestly, I don’t think I can use in a sentence yet. Lol.

Maybe something like , “did you buy the tickets yet?” “Don’t worry. I’ve got it in hand.”

So this is the first time I've watched the show all the way through to Series 12. Obviously this is when Lucille exits and i'm sorry but this doesn't make any sense to me.

Let me preface by saying that Lucille was never my favorite. Sister Frances was the last of the midwives that depart that I love.

This depression that seems to have a hold of Lucille doesn't make any sense. Like I get that she miscarried and that's hard but it hasn't been continuous since that event happened. And all of a sudden she wants to go back to Jamaica? I don't know why but this storyline is annoying me.

I'll be glad to see her gone. For those of you who have watched past this point, what do I have to look forward to?

Series 9 on Netflix has Christmas Special 2020 at the BEGINNING of the series, but it is supposed to be at the end and contains A LOT of spoilers for s9! Sorry for the awful picture, but luckily I have seen this series twice over!

Wilma has finally got her daughters all in school/daycare and has started a new career as a corset specialist. And apparently is doing very well because she was even recognized as a top performer.

She’s secretly taking the birth control pill because she is DONE having kids.

Secretly because her husband is still expecting a son out of her.

When she was in the kitchen he was ogling her like she was a piece of meat.

Wilma is lying on her deathbed, and her doofus husband says,”She can’t be taking contraception. She is supposed to give me a son. “

I imagine he’s going to find a young woman to remarry to give him that son, plus take care of the three daughters he already has.

Poor Wilma.

Does anyone else think it's odd that Nurse Dyer gets taken on because she was an army nurse without any midwifery background?
