Rogue waves
Can we just talk about how dumb Californians looked the time there was that rogue wave? Clearly no one paid attention in school. When water receeds like that you only got a limited time to GTFO. Its a tsunami. It probably bounced back from Hawaii hence the rogue. But it is a warning sign.

I hand-drew Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford in Palo Alto, California, from a photo, using marker pens and colored pencils. I wanted to capture the building's architecture with a light and cheerful color palette. Thought I'd share it here! Hope you like it! :)

Have any 3-5 sec fall foliage clips from around the Bay? Want to stitch them into a Reel?
Hi all! I run an Instagram page @bayareaunmapped where I share Bay Area day trip maps + itineraries.
I'm putting together a community fall reel - just pure fall colors, foggy forests, leaf crunch, creeks, vineyards - all from around the Bay Area (Sunol, Del Valle, Mt. Diablo, Napa, Felton, Golden Gate Park, your neighborhood park, etc.)
If you have any 2-5 second vertical clips you've shot in the last couple of fall seasons that you're okay sharing, I'd love to stitch them together into one reel.
What I will do:
• Edit / color correct and stitch everything nicely
• Tag you as a Collaborator on Instagram so the reel lives on both our profiles
• Credit your handle in caption
If you're interested, just comment or DM me and I'll share a Google Drive upload link. Please only share if it's your own footage.
Thanks so much - would love to make this a real Bay Area community piece!

Highway 1 trip report
We drove from San Francisco to LA. We started to get on Highway 1 from SF and hit a couple of spots along Highway 1 on the road to LA. The total time it took was around 12 hours, around 450 miles. We stopped at 4 locations on the way:
- Bixby Bridge: took some photos
- Pfeiffer Beach: took some photos there
- McWay Falls
- The Nepenthe restaurant, which has some gorgeous views
I would recommend getting on Highway 1 after you have crossed Monterey. That's where the beautiful views start. It would be recommended that you visit on a sunny day because that's when the views are the best. Know where to stop and plan your time depending on when you want to reach LA.

California and American flags flying side by side
Caught these two flags flying together on a perfectly clear day. Loved how the wind showed off the fabric and how well the colors popped against the sky.

The Road to Lake Isabella
Well, one of them at least. I used to come over from Ridgecrest and take the 90 minute drive whenever I wanted to go paddling at Lake Isabella. I didn't mind the drive as the high desert scenery is stunning and I got to see views like this.
