Anyone up for a social gravel ride this Sunday (Nov 1)? We're rolling from CyclErie in Old Town Erie at 8:30 AM with Will leading, out toward Boulder Valley Ranch and back.

About 40 miles and ~1,900 ft of climbing on mixed dirt. Route hits the recently opened Hidden Valley Trail, Gunbarrel, Boulder Reservoir, a Cobalt climb, then Eagle on the way back, with an optional Niwot loop. Social pace. Bring water (toilets on the route; water fill only if you go up to Niwot), a spare tube/flat kit, and a helmet.

I'm trying to get an e-bike with the Denver waiver and CO tax credit. I make less than my gf and we put in for waivers together. I was rejected and hers was accepted. It sucks but oh well.

Was lucky to get off work on time. Not even two minutes after the picture all of the color faded. Hard to find an open spot along the trail that doesn't have a bunch of industry buildings on the other side of the river.

I’m looking for a shop in Denver area that could help me with making a classic 80’s Colnago frame into a very rideable bike in the foothills. Not a vintage restoration, I want the feel of the steel frame but modern components. I understand it needs cold setting to fit a proper cassette. I’ve called a couple of small shops I figured we’re best at custom bike work but they couldn’t handle that kind of work. I’m in the southwest of Denver but will take it anywhere to get it done well.

Primarily a roadie/gravel rider but looking to dust off my mountain bike and try some more trails out here. I come from the midwest where flowy forest trails are common, so trying to find things more in that ballpark as opposed to "steep climb for an hour and then 5 minutes of high octane downhill."

Any recommendations that fit the bill within an hour or two of Denver?

I rode this today thanks to a post here about a week ago. I just want to add a clarification. The previous post said the road was only open to bikes, etc. on weekends. That was relevant at the time, but today both the entrance station ranger and the yellow sign (closeup on slide two) indicate that the road is open daily after Oct. 17.

The following sentence from an RMNP web page gives more clarity than the sign. "On Saturday, October 17, the road will reopen to bicycles, leashed pets and pedestrians for the winter. Leashed pets and bicycles are only allowed on the road, not on side trails."

The road closed to motor vehicles for the season about 10 days ago, so this is a rare window to bike it before snow accumulates. I saw at least 100 cyclists up there today. There were some areas that were muddy from melting slow. The ride is a lot of work - about 10 miles up with 3,200 feet of climbing that ends at 11,800 feet. I was on my brakes the entire 10 miles back down due to the many sharp drop-offs as well as the muddy areas. I was told that today was a very calm day, and often this route can be quite windy.

I’m planning a trip to Denver for an event that will require having a bike for a couple days. Looking for recommendations on places to rent a commuter style bike, preferably near the Capitol Hill area. Thanks!

First big ride on my custom Lauf. Boreas Pass on 10/13/26, got lucky as one day later it was under snow! Rode from Breck to Como and back. Honestly an amazing and beautiful ride!

I had a friend who was finishing up the 14ers so I decided to ride around the mountain instead of hiking it. Fun day for it, some snow up high, a slog of a climb up the 4x4 road. This weekend and next, Old Fall River Road is closed to vehicles and open to bikes and pedestrians only. Closed during the week for maintenance.

Highly recommend the trip if you can, always cool to get a little car free slice of a National Park to ride up. The road was busy with cyclists today, great to see!

Edit; you have to get there before 9am if you want to drive in and park without a reservation. You can ride into the park without a reservation (still a fee, $15 by bike I think, or free with your park pass) if you park at a ranger/visitor station or park in Estes.

Actually kinda normal. Rain moved in around 1pm in Estes. Happy to get a bit wet for a change.

Question in the title, I consider myself a decent MTB rider. Done plenty of downcountry or trail riding across Colorado but never anything close to proper enduro. I also only have a light trail bike with 130/120 travel. I tried GZA yesterday but that was a bit above my pay grade. Especially the super steep and loose sections. Ive seen old trailfork reports of Bon Scott being great, but newer reports saying it's unmaintained super rocky and barely rideable.

Is there something people would recommend as a first dip into gravity at lefthand?
