15 miles north west of Ontario Oregon, happening now.
Drivers passing westbound bound have been giving us updates. Apparently, someone managed to flip there truck and perfectly blocked both lanes and both shoulders. The wrecker on scene has the tractor separated from the trailer, but the trailer is wedged bad. Sounds like I could be here for a while.

Every time I turn the camera on the chatter would stop, but I did accidentally capture some chatter while using voice to text to make this post. It’s not perfect, but it’s below.

Copy that fire chief is leaving the scene. Thank you for the heads up. Yup all looking forward to it. Do you have eyes directly on the crash.

This is only a mock-up of a potential antenna location. I’m newly getting into CB and am planning on getting an 18’ Shakespeare big stick from a friend. I’ve rigged up pvc pipe to get a look at it since it is close to power lines. The top of the antenna would be roughly 3’ below the bottom of the high-voltage lines and 7’ from any of the lower communication lines. I’m not concerned about the antenna coming into contact with any of the lines even in high winds. My question being, would there be any kind of interference with transmission or reception between the high-voltage or communication lines?

New here and came across this and I was wondering if this is a rarer one because I can only find ones with four buttons and ones called killer bees. Is this good or a not so good one? Thanks in advance to anyone who checked this out and might give me some info. It’s much appreciated

Trying to get this Astatic D104 microphone to work with my computer. I'm using a 4pin to 3.5mm TRRS adaptor so I can connect it to my desktop.

Problems:

- Volume is too soft.

- When the Push-to-Talk button is not pressed, there is a loud constant hum.

Here's what I have tried:

- Placed the battery inside the base

- Turned the volume knob to the highest

- Turned the input level to the highest for my microphone in system settings

Do you think it's the adaptor's problem? When I got this microphone the seller said it's been tested and working. I'm asking the adaptor seller to see if there's any solutions. Please let me know if you have any ideas. It'd be cool to get this microphone working to be used as a desktop microphone.

Channel 19 on CB and Usually a lot more active but was quiet this morning so I started scanning around on both my handhelds. An operator from Puerto Rico is blasting on CB channel 9 and having fun and all I hear on GMRS is retail business chatter.

I used my icom 7410 for ssb on 27.555 but now i want to put station in my van (renault trafic) and use mobile antenna and wire delta loop from mountains, i realy like ss 3900 classic look but im afraid that 30w wont be enough, i chase DX

Today I connected my Speco 20W amplified speaker to my cobra 25LTD Classic. The radio has power, and I the speaker does too because it crackles when I plug and unplug the audio jack from the back of the radio. When I key the mic on, the light goes from green to nothing and there is nothing coming out of the speaker. I don't have an antenna, so I cannot test it on that. Do yall know have any ideas on how to solve this issue? Thanks.

Could someone possibly help,

I have a UR6QW Equaliser with a 4 pin output for a Cobra 148 GTL DX radio and it works very well.

I have now acquired a Yaesu FT 450 Transceiver and i would dearly would like to use the Equaliser with the Yaesu. I wonder if someone could help me with an adaptor cable.

I Have tried the usual channels but up to now had no positive answers.

The Microphone into the Equaliser is from my Studio Mic. ( XLR )

I have included a couple of photos.

Many Thanks in Advance

Phil

So it turns out both my radioes had issues. The one in the truck needed to have the antenna calibrated in back of radio. Other one has a cpl issues. Just need to check swr when I get out in the open but 150 ft from garage the swr is barely moving needle now. Thanks for your input everyone.

So I have an old 29 LTD Classic I bought at a car meet. It works great and my SWR is calibrated and is perfect but when I transmit and as I speak I will see the ANT alert come on with my voice as I talk. Was wondering if this is normal or not. I am getting a external SWR meter tomorrow to double check my SWR.

Update: I tested it with an external SWR meter and its all good so it seems to be fine. I did some more research and the ANT alert can become sensitive over time and my radio is around 25 years old so it makes sense. Thanks for help everyone!

Sometimes the reception on my CB handheld is better than my car CB radio. That is what happened here. Both radios have their squelch set to 1. I heard 'Dirty Sanchez' on the handheld very faint on the handheld showing "one bar" for RX and nothing on my car. Then, he made an adjustment and started lighting up my car radio at "1 bar" for RX and "3 bars" for the handheld. 🇺🇲🇧🇧🏝️🌴📻🎙️

How can my radio receive a signal but can't transmit nobody can hear me talking is that a mic problem or something internal that cb shop need to fixed

Any explanation on how to use this cb or what I’m doing wrong

as soon as I put the rf Gain up to high it gets super filled with static and noice to where I have to put the squelch super high to counter it then the meter is also close to the red zone idk what’s wrong I have had this radio for abouut a week and can’t seem to have a day where I can hear clear conversations except for once when I was parked in a neighorhood I was able to dial it in but once I hit the street went back to static. help

I recently acquired a really nice IC-718. It has been converted for 11m. I thought it would be a step up from my Anytone quad 6 pro.

My 718 has the DSP installed. However, it is really noisy to the point I have stopped using it. I even took the next step and bought the MFJ1026 and added the auxiliary antenna. Still too noisy.

I have gone back to the quad 6 pro. I think it's because the 718 is an older radio and the quad 6 has modern noise suppression. Now the 718 is sitting on the floor in the hallway.

I have considered resetting the 718 to see if that would accomplish anything. Any other suggestions?

Channel 19 (27.185 MHz AM) is very active in Melbourne/Palm Bay, Florida. This morning I was listening to locals talk about squirrels with my PNI escort HP 82. The antenna that I upgraded the handheld with is a tactical whip with a BNC base. 🔊👂🐿️📻🌅

I’ve been driving for a few years now and I bought a cheap uniden for a trip to Georgia once but I’m looking to upgrade to a real good radio. I’ve been trying to do research on models and stuff along with researching on the Stryker style radios that need to be modified was just wondering if yall could point me in the right direction on a good product.

howdy! my name is jack, I've been interested in CBs for years but just finally got around to getting one set up probably, my daily driver, a 1976 postal jeep, now has a cobra 29LTD classic mounted under the dash, and I may or may not have mounted a big old honkin fairgrounds style PA horn on the bumper 🤣 I also have a Midland 13-882C I believe it is, and a GM 130A, yes, the one with the phone handset, the first radio I remember buying was the 130A and I thought for sure I blew it because way back when I bought it, I figured it'd be like a TV or stereo, if there's not an antenna, it just won't receive or transmit, but it won't hurt anything, I checked it a while ago and it does work, at least receiving, I gotta buy another antenna, hopefully get a base station antenna to mount on the house

Hello all. I am looking into getting into the cb world since I have started my new job(I'm only 19). I started working in a 200 foot deep pit quarry and the company I work for is contracted by the quarry company to haul the material into the plant( I shall mention, my company is non-union, the plant/ quarry owner company is, this will be important later). We have to communicate with their employees buzzing around the quarry so we don't have accidents, after all, would you want to be ran over by a loaded 45 ton rock truck? For this bit of communication we use handheld 2 ways. Now to circle back to that union/non-union thing, as you'd expect we made their union guys look bad because we came in and got the production number way up and they didn't like that, so we are required to keep radio communication to the bare minimum. I drive one rock truck, there is a second rock truck and a loader. The second rock truck and loader both have Stryker 955s that have been all done up to be able to run on cb channels in them so those two operators can talk back and forth without being on the 2 way. My question is( and I know this isn't a good idea with any electronics) what is the cheapest 10m or similar that is pre converted for cb channels and has all the am/fm/ssb bits that would be decent for running with them. I was originally thinking a cobra 29 but I started looking for cobra 200s but they seem to be especially hard to find since they are rare and also old. I was hoping to only spend 200-300 for a full ready to go setup but I figure that may not be the case. I am located in easton ,PA if anyone of you might be in the area with something or know somewhere I could go close by that might have something useful. I don't have much time at all to go far to travel and get something as a noticed cb shops aren't exactly frequent. Thanks for your time and input

EDIT: I was talking with one of the two guys that have the 955s and they said the reason why they have them is because one of our bad apple employees long before I started was running his mouth on the normal cb channels and got in trouble so the boss had us remove the cbs out of all of our machines, so they use the 955s to hide on the non cb frequencies so I would imagine i would need something that is at least a 10 meter and then if I need I can get it converted to run on the cb channels later on. And if it helps they would be able to help me get to know how to use Stryker or Galaxy radios because they have had many of both before

So I just got my radio set up, there are still a few minor adjustments I want to make (such as wiring direct to the battery rather than the 12v plug) but is it normal to have constant static until you turn the squelch halfway up or more? I get plenty of transmissions, some I can hear pretty well, but most of them are really hard to read.

I have recently returned from a Florida to Kentucky road trip. Traveling through Appalachia in North Carolina and Tennessee. I used CB the whole way exclusively on Channel 19 (27.185 MHz AM) with my Radioddity CS-47 and 30inch/70cm antenna installed in my 2015 CR-Z

On the way up, I had over an hour long conversation driving with a convoy of mobile home transporters. Along I-95 and I -27 from Jacksonville, FL to Ashville, NC

On the way back down, in Tennessee when a trucker drove past the brake check station, the radio lit up with everyone calling him out. I-75 had a lot of talking going on in Atlanta, especially during the traffic jams. 🇺🇲📻🎙️🛣️🏞️🚘

I work on the road a bunch and it’s so hard to find a channel that doesn’t have bleed or some looney tune, just speaking or yelling into the CB, I belive everyone should have freedom and it shouldn’t be stripped ever, but these guys who just get on to talk about some of the dumbest things I have heard is crazy. They either get drunk and get on or not allowed in their own house

Like I try to work and block them out but for so long all I hear is the most annoying static or someone who shouldn’t be aloud to talk just yelling into it, please be respectful to those who use them to actually communicate and work, I am getting to a point where I wish they could triangulate it and just take the equipment from you.

From a person who needs to use them.

I have a really low, SWR and I am not sure if the way radio sounds understand that older unit without much processing and filters

I'm trying to find an easy install antenna / mount combo. I think I want a hood mount setup, and I've been looking at the Cobra 75 All Road radio but open to suggestions. I'm fine with function over fashion, but I still want something somewhat esthetically pleasing. Any suggestions?

Hi all, I just picked up a Robyn T-123B for $3 at an estate sale. It seems well cared for and it powers up. What equipment would I need to test whether it works? I don't have a microphone, antenna, or speaker for it.

I'd also appreciate any advice on websites etc on how to use it and on the CB world more generally. Total newbie here, but I am excited to play around with this!
