Politics Thanks for nothing…

Thanks to Lisa Kearns (my vote) and Rory “I never peaked and look like someone who sells MLM’s” Nisan for guaranteeing a win for every boomer in Burlington. If you two had just recognized that you were splitting ~50% of the votes and decided on who (cough Rory) should concede, we’d be out from this shit.

Instead, the aging populace united and here we are. How your hubris couldn’t see past your own shortcomings is beyond me. Well done. All MMW had to do was the same thing she’s always done.

I don’t know the timing rule to pickup the countless signs but sure hope it’s like 48 hours. Sick of them everywhere!

Politics Campaign sign bylaws

This year because of a court ruling, campaigns could put up signs anywhere on municipal property. That meant lots of signs along various commercial/institutional strips.

It also meant that a campaign could put a sign up in front of anyone's home regardless of the resident's views on the candidate. That happened to me and it took too many emails to the campaign to get it removed.

I'd like to see the City change the rules so that a campaign can't just put a sign in front of a residence without permission of the resident.

In addition to signs advertising the name of a candidate - a sign acts as an endorsement of a candidate. But the rules as is bend that last part.

Technically if a certain Ward 6 candidate puts their sign in front of your home but on the city's property you can't say no. But you're the person that will be seen as endorsing them.

We've got four years to fix this.

/End rant

Information Scammer in town today. Beware

Hi neighbours. A guy in a white Hyundai SUV just stopped me in the parking lot at Home Depot/Staples plaza on Guelph Line. Asked if I wanted a brand new 72 inch TV, says they sent him two by mistake.

I’ve heard of this exact scam before. Told him in no uncertain terms to GTFO.

Guy was wearing a ball cap and sunglasses, spoke in Canadian accent.

Don’t fall for it. Today at 12.48pm.

Question Any way to find out if I voted in the 2022 municipal election?

• Upvotes

I cannot remember if I voted in 2022, the first municipal election I was of age for. It was a very busy, chaotic and stressful time in my life so I don’t remember much from that year. I doubt I can, but if anyone knows please let me know. Otherwise I guess I’ll just count 2026 as my first!

I spent most of yesterday driving all around the backroads between Burlington, Waterdown, Milton and the areas in-between looking for interesting scenes to stop and take some Fall photos.

Here's what I found!
