Final week at What Up Dough Pizza

A heartfelt thank you to the Burbank community!

It’s with a heavy heart that we announce this will be our final week at What Up Dough Pizza, with Saturday, October 31st (Halloween) being our last day of business.

We want to take a moment to thank the entire Burbank community and everyone who has supported us throughout the years. Whether you stopped by for a quick slice, brought your family and friends, became a regular, or simply spread the word about us, we truly appreciate every single one of you.

It’s been an incredible experience being part of this community, and we’re grateful for all the memories and friendships we’ve made along the way.

We would love to see everyone one last time! We’ll be open all week through Saturday, October 31st, and would love the opportunity to serve you one final time before we close our doors.

Please note that we’ll be offering a limited menu during our final week of operation, so some of your usual favorites may not be available.

From all of us at What Up Dough Pizza, thank you, Burbank, for all the love and support over the years. It has meant more to us than you know.

Bike lane - Please ride WITH traffic in the direction of traffic

Please talk to your family and loved ones. Bikes/scooters must travel with traffic in the direction of traffic. I see many people traveling against the traffic including kids on their bike from/to school.

This happened last week and it was so close. I think the wide angle lens on dash cams make it look like there was more distance than it really was. I needed to make a right-hand turn and I did not see the rider until the last min. The car in the front perfectly hid the rider too.

If this scooter person and my car collided, I think it could easily have been fatal, especially the rider was not wearing a helmet.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE talk to your family and loved ones. Tell them to tell their friends and cousins too.

To the three people who witnessed a lady who fell at Hollywood Way intersection by the airport entrance a couple of days ago..

I was the Asian person standing there when you guys arrived.

I was walking in front of her, minding my own business. Then I heard a loud thud, turned around to see what was going on, and saw that an older lady had taken a tumble.

So I walked back to see if she was ok and if she needed help. I asked “Are you alright?“ and she said something about the pavement being uneven and that she didn’t see it. I then asked “Do you need help getting up?” and she just ignored me and continue to brush the dust off her elbows.

Then you guys arrive. One of you asked if she needed help getting up. The exact same thing I just asked her, and she immediately reached out her hand accepting your help right away.

I took a quick notice that you guys were all white and guessed I was’t the right color to help her, so I turned around and walked away.

Not sure if any of you would see this, but I really hope that at least one of you would. I could brush off what that lady did, but it bugged me that some decent and normal people out there might misunderstood and thought I was just standing there watching someone on the ground and didn’t try to offered any help. And if you do, please tell your other two friends that I tried.

EDIT: IT IS ILLEGAL and it was also taken down at some point today, not sure when.

I thought this was illegal, unless this patch of the bike path is somehow private?

Hello, not sure if anyone will have any answers, but here's what I'm looking for:

Offices/doctors in or around burbank that are highly recommended that take medi-cal.

Preferably someone lgbtq+/trans friendly or at the very least someone who is good with women's healthcare and will take health concerns/questions seriously.

Thank you in advance!

Why Not Polon

Why was Polon not endorsed by the Progressive groups in this round of elections. Is it a general strategy to coalesce and/or conclusion of non viability? Does anyone know, care to say?

He seems like a legitimate candidate. Feel free to DM me as well if you care to not speak ill.

Do we as a community have a voice in stopping Burbank unified from tearing down 100 plus year old oak trees on campuses?

Some of our campuses have oak trees that are over 100 years old in the district has decided that over the winter break. They're going to be tearing out and trashing the trees. Absolute heartbreaking to see history torn down and thrown in the trash.

Tenants vote early! Watch out for key phrases from candidates about renters and housing 🗳️

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This is a HUGE election year for renters in Burbank. For the first time, we have a real opportunity to elect a City Council majority that supports rent stabilization and stronger protections for tenants.
But here's the thing: Not every candidate who says they support renters actually supports rent stabilization.
Before you cast your ballot, do your research! Look for candidates who explicitly support rent stabilization, not just vague promises about "affordable" housing.

You can also check out our City Council Candidate Questionnaire to see where the candidates actually stand on the issues that matter to tenants. Go to our website to read candidates’ answers to the questionnaire!

New Flock and Police Surveillance Video

This gets even scarier and sadder than before (cop utilizing Flock in a case where he abused a child) but it is something we should all watch. There is the continuing gaslighting and misdirection by city council$, poli¢e and private companie$ but there are also glimmers of hope.

Many cities are ending contracts and listening to concerned citizens. Some only after the ignorant or defiant council members are voted out of office - NOW IS OUR CHANCE! Flock has even publicly acknowledged a couple of the many times that they were in the wrong.

We have two candidates that are definitely against Flock and its ilk. They are Nolan Southerland and Mike Van Gorder. Nikki Perez has been listening to our concerns about Flock and is receptive.

------------

fyi the US map animation in the video is not AI slop. Jordan didn't have a specific font installed and the animation wasn't able to render as intended. He didn't catch it at the time and admitted it was his bad (human slop). He pinned a comment to a blog entry explaining what went down.

Favorite Handy Market sandwich?

Obvs the tri-tip is the best but it's only available on Saturdays, so what are everyone's other faves? Usually I go for the Italian sub but lately I've been feeling the chicken salad on whole wheat with alfalfa sprouts.

Winter camp for Kindergarteners

Where do you typically send your kindergarteners for winter break? Looking for full or half day care, mainly with an active program ie sports, cooking, or drama that they can have fun at. Not looking for coding camps per se but can consider other ideas too- preferably close to Glendale. Tia!

Route from new airport terminal to Metrolink AV Line station - ride along video!

Thumbnail

Sharing another video I put together of the route between the new airport terminal and the Metrolink station nearby!

Unfortunately, unlike the nice bike/ped path leading in from the airport's new main entry point at Hollywood/Winona, the walk from the airport to the train station is a weird one. It's not far, just 10 minutes on foot, but there's almost no signage, no bike facilities, and most of the route feels like you're not supposed to be there. Hopefully there are plans to improve this - I'll definitely be asking the airport about it! In the meantime I hope this video can be helpful for anyone making a train connection here :)

Hey all! I need to get some window curtains hemmed. I've yet to get anything altered in the area, so I'd love your recommendations on great spots! It doesn't need to be fast...quality is more important.

Recs for Refinishing Bookcase

Hi! Double post in the same day, I know, but I've got things I need done and I want to support local businesses! I inherited an early 1900s wooden barrister bookcase from my grandfather and I want to get it fixed up. The glass is intact, it's just some wear and tear on the wood and some metal fastenings on the side that could use some fixing.

Anyone know of a great small business who can do this type of work?

Piano Lessons?

44 Year-old, sort of starting life over and always wanted to learn how to play the piano, even if it's just basic things.

I know I can Google local places for piano lessons, but I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations? Firsthand experience?

Thank you all in advance! <3
