Interview Bruce and depression
https://www.themarginalian.org/2026/10/16/bruce-springsteen-depression/Great little (not new) article about Bruce and depression. We all can experience depression; it doesn’t seem to care about tax brackets or zip codes. But I really like Bruce’s approach to handling it.

I think a big reason why I liked Deliver Me From
Nowhere (book and film) so much is because it delves so deeply into depression as a whole.
The film especially is more of a meditation on depression than it is a story about Bruce Springsteen. The way it’s depicted is so raw and so honest to the point where it was actually uncomfortable at times. I could see myself in Bruce in those dark moments.

When I saw DMFN I was dealing with depression after being free of it for many years.
I found this postscript on the film oddly comforting and wrote it down:
“Bruce continued to deal with depression but never again without help or hope. “

I really like that he was honest about his depression.
I think a lot of times it can come from your genes. Judging from what we know about his dad, I think it may be in his genes too.

He went into depth about his depression in his autobiography. We’re fortunate he got the help he needed.

As someone who has his own struggles with depression, I really love that Bruce has been so open about.
For the longest time I've also had the urge to always find the reason, an explanation, for why I feel depressed or down. Just accepting that sometimes I feel bad just because did actually help me with dealing it.
