Sinclair drug test question
Hi all! For recent Sinclair hires- were you drug tested for THC? I've seen mixed reviews regarding Sinclair's drug tests including a screen for THC. Any input on the process would be appreciated.

I find it strange myself unless your working with moving or handling expensive equipment. Like an Engineer.

Sinclair drug tests all potential employees after making an offer. THC does not matter nationwide since it is legal in some states.

When you say it doesn’t matter, do you mean the test doesn’t screen for thc?

It’s a friggin plant. I hate companies that drug test. They’re a holes. If you don’t have a job where you’re handling safety equipment or driving their vehicles or something like that and you’re just say somebody who works in the newsroom or on air, you should take out your wiener and pee on their leg during the interview because they’re too uptight to live. I need to get goddamn baked for a stupid job in the news.

I’ve worked for every major station group and never once have even heard of someone being drug tested and this includes positions where’d you’d be operating company vehicles. Sinclair most definitely do not drug test when I worked there a few years back.

I had a HAIR FOLLICLE drug test for a job in the early 2000s.
Ironically, it is now a Sinclair station. Owned by a much smaller, conservative family-owned company back in the day.

I worked at Nexstar when they were piss testing new hires, but they bought our whole group and didn't screen any of us. Probably realized they wouldn't have anyone to run their new stations. I think the standard in a lot of places is if you bang up a company car, they'll test and fire you if you pop positive.
It's so fucking Draconian. I hate purity testing.

I believe there was more testing at one point but we had a photog who was believed to be drinking in his unit. Empty beer cans were spotted in the vehicle by more than one person. He was also found somewhat unresponsive on a couch once at the station. They did ask him to submit to testing but he quit before it happened. Only time I’ve ever known someone to be asked be it before or during employment.
Our former news director actually once said something around the lines of “if we drug tested we’d lose half of our staff and all of our good employees” as she knew several folks at a minimum smoked weed.

Of all the red flags I glossed over and ignored deciding to work for that company, having to go into an urgent care for the pee in a cup drug test in pandemic shutdown 2020 really should have been a “what am I doing?” moment.

I tested for a job in Seattle with Sinclair and was told they go by the local laws regarding THC. Therefore, I passed the test fine. If you’re concerned, I’d say something about taking a cbd product for sleep to hiring manager and just realizing it has a little thc. They will tell you if that’s a deal breaker in that state.
