Hello! To make things a bit easier, when it comes to proving who's the real owner of a said cat, we're introducing verified flairs.
Simply post a picture of your cat with a small physical note that includes your username (like a post-it note), and you will get assigned your own flair with the name of your cat(s).
(Remember that it has to be a physical note, post it, or similarly).
You can post here or send me a modmail and I'll get you verifying you asap!

I know cats don’t recognize their own siblings but every now and then I still hope Jade (older lilac bsh) somehow notices Jarvis (black smoke kitten) has the same face as her 🥹. Jade also got the floofy tail gene but Jarvis did not. Everyone questions how they can be related when Jarvis is black…I’m tired of having to explain it to them 🥲😭
Jarvis is also noticeably smaller than Jade when she was his age — he’s actually the only surviving kitten of his litter :( but he is VERY feisty!

Hi everyone! I want to introduce to you my girl, Snowbell. She is a 7 month old british short hair. No paperwork or anything but she definitely looks like one.
I got her about a week ago and at first she was hiding for a day or so in my room and now she is comfortable around me but still hides if she hears any other person approaching. I let her out in the house at certain moments but when other family members are around the house, she tends to hide. Should I let her roam around the house anyway or keep her in my room?

I don’t know if it’s the right place, but am I the only one that finds the “is my cat a BSH?” posts annoying? I do understand why the people ask this, but so many posts (or at least the ones that Reddit puts on my page / pushes) in this sub are about this. Without papers, it’s a guess based on looks and in most cases (imo) a Google search does give you the answer. I personally think that it would be more appropriate to either have flair for that or redirect those posts to a dedicated sub (idk if there is one). Maybe it’s only me and I need to change the algorithm….
Greetings from my gremlin..

my cat is 2 years old and i got him 4 months ago. when i first got him, he had a bunch of eye discharge that was red and green. we took him to the vet for a check up and they gave us eye drops. his eye boogers lessened, however his eye boogers are thick and green now(not red anymore) one time he was squinting in one eye so i took him to the vet. they said he had a small scratch in his eye. I asked them about the eye boogers and how they are green and thick but they said that its normal but when i search on the internet its not. I have to wipe his eye boogers a couple times a day. The vet i go to is rated really high (4.8). I dont know whether to trust the internet or the vet.

Need a home for 3 years old British Shorthair. She has her own automatic food dispenser and literbox. She is very affectionate, playful and a little shy.

Here’s another photo! I didn’t expect such a beautiful reaction from the community when I started posting my babies here so there’ll be more photos to come. This is my favourite photo of her to date 🥹

Does my baby miso look like a British short hair or a British short hair mix? His vet thinks he is mixed :) would like confirmation.

My partner got our cat from a local owner and the owner mentioned that both parents are BSH (but since they're a local/independent breeder they don't have certificates or anything)
Based on his characteristics is he a BSH?
He's active, shadow-like clingy, loves sleeping on head, etc but still can be independent

Hello everyone!
I will be picking up my 5-month-old BSH kitten this Friday and am in full prep mode.
I desperately need litter box guidance and would appreciate any insight. I’ve browsed this board up and down and my main takeaway so far is that BSH can have potty issues, so I want to make sure that I have an adequate set up.
I live in a 3-story townhouse. Do I need a litter box for each floor?
The first floor is my office, and we rarely spend time down there as a family. The first floor also has the front door and garage door, so there’s a very small entry way that connects to the office and the stairs to go to the rest of the house. There is a big window in the office and I’m not sure if he will take interest when I’m not home.
Second and third floors are where most of our time is spent.
However, I also have a dog (super cat friendly!) who has recently taken an interest in the feral cat colony’s 💩 near our house. We used to live with cats and never had an issue, but their litter box was behind a closet door with a cat door. With BSH’s needing open-top boxes, I’ve got two locations I can secure with a gate with a cat door on the second and third floor (pantry and my closet), but I’m slightly panicking about the first floor. I could install a gate there, but I’m also not sure I love the idea of having gates all over the house unless it’s absolutely essential.
I might be overthinking this, so I’d love insight here - I appreciate any feedback. Please be gentle!
