Bridge Crew Revival 0.7.11 is out: passwords, blocking, smoother voice and a bunch of fixes
Hey all, been a busy couple of days on the mod so here’s a catch up on everything since the last post.
Updates:
Share codes. Every crew has one now, like YZZDK9-EU-1Q2W3E4. Give it to someone and they can join you even if your crew’s private and you’re not Steam friends. It’s in the F7 window, there’s a copy button.
Crew passwords. When you open your crew to public matchmaking in the briefing room it asks if you want a password. Same button lets you change or remove it later. Quick match won’t throw people into locked crews.
Blocking. Kick someone and it’ll ask if you want to block them too. They get booted and can’t join your crews again. Anyone you’ve blocked on Steam can’t get in either. You can unblock everyone in Revival Settings on the shuttle.
Join by code in VR. There’s a “Join a crew by its room code” option in Revival Settings now that pops up the SteamVR keyboard, so no more taking the headset off. The mod’s messages also show up as popups in game now.
Voice commands list on the website so you know what you can actually say.
Fixes:
Voice chat should be a lot less choppy. It buffers a tiny bit before playing so small lag spikes don’t chop people up.
Voice commands were stealing your mic from voice chat, so after using one your crew couldn’t hear you. Sorry about that, fixed now.
Controllers resting on a desk don’t throw the “controllers disconnected” warning straight away anymore. There’s a 30 second grace period.
Patrol: the freighters you’re meant to protect don’t show up as enemies anymore, and they don’t spawn inside asteroids and planets.
Patrol and Last Stand: torpedo restocks actually work when someone other than the host is on tactical.
Fleet Battle: enemies don’t cloak anymore, so you’re not hunting the last 4 Romulans for 2 hours. It’s rebalanced too, your fleet was basically winning on its own before. Now it’s 24 of yours vs 30 of theirs, plus reinforcements.
Steam avatars in the friends list aren’t upside down anymore lol.
If you join a crew and it fails, it tells you why now (wrong version, wrong password, blocked) instead of just “room closed”.
Important: everyone in a crew needs to be on the same version, so make sure everyone you play with has updated. If you’ve got the mod already you’ll get an update prompt on the shuttle, so just run the installer again.

PS - I'm open to all ideas to add to the game, please let me know. However, I cannot 3D model for shit so if you want a new ship, that's on you. I can wire it all up though.
