📈Stonks📉 Boeing 2026 Salary Survey

Someone sent a suggestion via Modmail and thought this was a good idea to do annually. A bit late but I'll continue doing this yearly after our annual raise/bonus period. (Stolen from r/Raytheon)

Last time we did a census, a few people shrieked, "There's no such thing as anonymous! I aint filling it out!" Then don't. It's up to you if you want to participate or not. I'm not trying to steal your personal information.

Application FAQ 8/6/2026

Due to the extremely poor participation in the quarterly question thread, I am making the decision to do away with it. This FAQ thread will stay permanently in the highlights section for easier view. The content here has been available in the wiki but Reddit UI makes it difficult to see.

Questions regarding application that are answered here will be removed. This is from part of the census feedback at the start of the year where a common complaint was the frequent application questions.

This thread is dated 8/6/2026 in the case that a revision needs to be made.

APPLY FOR A JOB

All job posting and application are displayed on the Boeing website here. You will need to create an account where you will need to provide all personal information and your resume.

INTERVIEW STYLE

Please refer to this handy link: https://tbcdn.talentbrew.com/company/185/v2_0/docs/Boeing_Interview_Prep_2021.pdf

The above is from 2021 but explains STAR format. However, Boeing hiring managers are not strictly bound by STAR behavioral question format. Many will still expect a response in a STAR format due to their familiarity with it. Whether the question is going to contain behavioral or technical question is entirely dependent on the interview board. Nobody but the interviewers will know what questions they will ask.

Frequently Asked Application Questions

  1. Why am I still "Under Consideration" or "Under Hiring Manager Review"?

There is no answer. There can be multiple reasons why your application has not moved forward. Common reason is the hiring manager has not checked any resumes yet due to capped bandwidth. Another is you may not be under consideration but the HR personnel has not updated the status.

  1. How long am I expecting to stay in under consideration?

Anywhere from 1 week to months/year, depending on what the reason for your hold. Hiring managers are put on a timeline to review the resumes of the requisitions they own. Senior managers are notified after a certain point to pressure hiring managers to go through with the review.

  1. My job needs a security clearance. I applied for one but did not receive it yet. What happens?

You will most likely be either loaned to another team, or given unclassified work for the duration of the adjudication.

  1. Do I need a clearance for a job?

Applications that state "eligible for security clearance" just means you need to be eligible. This means you meet all the criteria to obtain one which includes being a U.S. Citizen and with a clean background.

  1. Is there a hiring freeze?

Boeing has many sites. One region can be on a hiring freeze while another can be on a hiring spree.

  1. I am an intern that wants to return for another year, or about to graduate. I have not heard of any offer.

Contact your college intern coordinator and ask. They will have the means to get your resume pushed to teams seeking new hires or interns. There are multiple teams that are searching for new hires. Onboarding a previous intern is significantly easier and preferred by teams that are searching for new full time hires.

  1. I keep getting auto-rejected. What do I do?

Look into the ATS system. There are dedicated subs and professionals that can review your resume. Other reasons may be that you are answering a question in the application page that will auto trigger a rejection (ie. applying for a job that requires a security clearance without having one or not having the years of experience).

What are we wearing to an interview.

Got an in-person interview in a few days, and normally I would wear a suit and tie. Saw some advice where folks were saying dress one level up from the offices norm.
QE position, and everyone wears jeans and polos/button downs. Some on the team wear jeans and T’s on the day to day.

So, I am thinking business shirt, no tie and blazer… slacks, dress but not formal shoes. … anyone ?

Boeing Third quarter earnings release

The earnings release for 3Q has been published.

https://investors.boeing.com/investors/news/press-release-details/2026/Boeing-Reports-Third-Quarter-Results/default.aspx

Core earnings was positive, but there was a core loss overall. Investors seem unhappy with the results.

Careers Flight Ops Generalist.

Found a position near me that I feel I am uniquely qualified for. I am a current GS DoD employee but am interested in making the jump to Boeing. It says it’s a mid level to senior level, in which I think with my years of experience I would fall under senior level. (P4).

Does anyone know the day-to-day of this position. Or what is the office like? (Berkeley MO.)Any insight is appreciated. Also if you have any interview prep or info about negotiating salary I’d appreciate it. I would need to be toward the upper end of the salary range ~$130k to even entertain the position.

Boeing contractor layoffs?

My wife is a Boeing contractor. She just received notice that Wednesday is her last day. For context she was a 33 year Boeing employee before being layed off in I think 2022. She's been a contractor since that time.

Careers Interested in working at Boeing

I (35F) am interested in getting back into the aerospace industry. I have a B.S. in Communication and a M.S. in Special Education. I taught for 3 years in NYC as a STEAM and ICT teacher. I’m in my 7th year of teaching and currently work and live in Florida.
Before I went into education, I was an assembler at GE Aerospace and really loved the work.
Now that I’ve been in the field as a teacher for 7 years, I’m reassessing where I want my career to go from here.
I’m really itching to get back into aerospace.
I enjoy teaching but I think my strengths lie in technical work.
I understand Boeing is a huge company and I really would love to get my foot in the door. I’m willing to take a pay cut and be an assembler / quality inspector. I would love to learn more from people who work there. I do fear that they will look at my recent experience and education and think that it’s irrelevant and that because I have a master’s in another field, they will not give my resume a chance.
I genuinely want to get back into this work. Any advice would be appreciated!

Boeing down 13.5% YTD. Does Q3 earnings spark a turnaround?

Post image

Hard to believe we went from ~$240 shortly after last quarter’s earnings to where we are now. Ortberg’s comments didn’t help at Laguna, but are things that materially different from then to merit this drop? Where do we go from here?

Careers Insights on Boeing IT Product Specialist role (PO vs PM vs TPM) + Onboarding & Career Growth Advice

I'm looking to get some insider perspective on the Information Technology Product Specialist role within Boeing's IT/digital teams. If you work in Boeing tech or have visibility into these groups, I'd love your thoughts on a few things:
Role Definition (PO, PM, or TPM?): How does this title actually manifest day-to-day? Is it leaning more toward a traditional Product Manager (strategy/roadmapping), a Product Owner (backlog grooming/delivery), or a Technical Product Specialist (deep architecture/systems)?
Domain Expertise Curve: For someone coming in with strong enterprise product experience without an aerospace background, what's the best way to ramp up and master the domain quickly?
First 3–6 Months / Year 1 Playbook: What do you wish someone new in this role knew on Day 1? What does a successful first 3 to 6 months look like at Boeing?
Promotions & Talent: What separates folks who fast-track their promotions at Boeing from those who stall? Are there specific behaviors or navigation skills that stand out?
Compensation: Is there room to negotiate salary within the bands for this job level, and how rigid is the structure?

Appreciate any real talk, advice, or perspective you can share. Thanks!

Leaving Boeing after 12 years.

This message is to anyone who has had fear of leaving the company due to feeling like they’re grateful for having a job. I hate that sentiment. The company is equally if not more lucky to have you there. I am second generation Boeing, my dad 35 years. Boeing gave me an education and knowledge about the business I can’t put a price on. I just want anyone here to know that you can take the risk. I have a wife 3 kids and mortgage, don’t feel like you’re locked in for life. Boeing will always be there. I love this company, the management has had its turns but don’t think you have to be here.

Defense Mil to Civ

Looking for some guidance... So my school background is a BS in Law & Justice, I'm currently active AF trying to start my Masters with some speed bumps so far. My goal is to finish out my next 5 years in the military and try to Skillbridge into Boeing in Oklahoma. I'm trying to build a plan to do that and I've had some issues.

With an active duty career, schooling needs to be online, I wanted to turn my degree to a Masters in Cyber Security at either WGU or Purdue Global, but I don't have a background in that field. WGU wants me to either get another Bachelor's or a handful of certifications to meet the pre-reqs for the degree I want.

What I'm hoping for is guidance on if the track I'm looking at makes sense, or if theirs other routes I could/should be looking at. The military will pay for my Masters while I'm active without using my GI bill, but it has to be a masters or certifications, I can't get another bachelor's unless I use the GI bill(I'm saving it for my kids).

Careers Configuration management engineer

What does a configuration management engineer do at boeing, like on day to day basis? Is it BDS or BGS? Seems like a sustainment engineer role that tracks engineering change notices.
