Lived in Columbus my whole life, grew up going to CBJ games, vaguely remember the old logo. This whole time, I didn't know the flag on the logo was supposed to be a C for Columbus... Am I just stupid or is this just another strike against our poor branding?

K. Johnson gave the Blue Jackets the final word in overtime.

10:58 into the first, A. Fantilli zipped a wrist shot past the goalie from the doorstep, and the Blue Jackets moved ahead 1-0. Only 1:56 later, K. Johnson got a stick on it and changed the angle right in tight, and the Blue Jackets pushed the lead to a pair at 2-0. The same side struck again 50 seconds later when D. Mateychuk caught the goalie with a quick snap shot from the top of the circle, and the Blue Jackets made it a three-goal game, 3-0.

9:59 into the second, N. Cates jammed it home right in tight, and the Flyers cut the deficit to 3-1.

15:04 into the third, T. Zegras ripped one past the goalie right in tight, and that made it a one-goal game at 3-2. Late in the third period, J. Drysdale deflected one in right in tight, and the three-goal lead was gone, 3-3.

2:22 into overtime, K. Johnson got a shot off in a hurry from the doorstep, and that settled the game for the Blue Jackets.

The Flyers carried a 66-37 edge in shot attempts and a 15-6 edge in close-range shots on goal, but the Blue Jackets made more of their chances. The Flyers rang a shot off the iron.

Final: The Blue Jackets won 4-3 in overtime.

Discussion Risk factors portion of Rangers stocking filing that provides an interesting look into NHL franchise financials.

I thought this was really interesting to see. I thought a few of you might find this interesting as well, but one of the risk factors they call out is in order to not incur operating loss the Rangers essentially need to make it into the playoffs.

Generally, this filing provides interesting insights into how NHL team financials work. Of course it will vary team by team, but further proves that deep playoff runs are crucial to profitability and revenue growth for the organization.
