Hobby Progress Dante and his golden boys
Very happy with the result of Gold-Chrom as a primer. Ignore the axe gang in the back.

Finished these guys from the Leviathan box, great minis. Did some experimenting , and probably took too long with them, to the point where I got a bit sick of them ha (some of the time was waiting for deliveries). Used some custom decals, on the knee and tilt shield. But I ended up painting over the one on the shield, as it looked too much 'like a decal'. Also experimented with printing my own transfers for the tiny writing on the two name scrolls, with mixed success. Finally, although I think these photos make the red armour look better, the recipe I used this time wasnt as satisfactory as previous. I need to go back to simple days. Overal I enjoyed working on them

I am hopeful for a blood angel glow up next year brothers. Sharing finished company for some positivity as 11th edition is BA edition.
I started 3 years ago and have nearly finished 5 themed BA companies.
I will post them all in the coming weeks but am starting with the 1st company which is fitting

Got an army of BloodAngels to paint and been trying to find the ārightā hue of red. Thought I wanted to go cooler, then thought I wanted the hotrod red look but now Iām not sure!
Left to right.
B&W Zen + Naphthol Red Light/Naphthol Crimson 1/1
B&W Zen + Naphthol Crimson
White primer + Pure Red + Fiery Vernilion
Black Primer + Bold Pyrole Red
White Primer + Bold Pyrole Red
Black Primer + Mephiston + Evil Sunz
Black Primer + Skorne Red + Khador Red
The photo is making the reds pop a lot more tbh as from the ProAcryl models to the right, these look closer to orange and The Warpaints looks pinky. The Liquitex models look more of a solid representation.
Let me know what you think!?

These paints have kind of ruined me. Also this image is adjusted a bit from my phone to match what my eyes see a bit closer.
I also bought Vallejo bloody red and scarlet red and theyāre gorgeous but they bubble so much and donāt go on nearly as even

Because the response on the golden boys was so great, I've decided to post brother Castiel here as well. Yes, I know the plasma glow could be improved a lot. The sword is a leftover from the Nemesis Dreadknight.

Seeing all the drama around our Battleforce box, I wanted to take a crack at crafting my own version of it to see if we could make a better version that had broader appeal. The goal here is to stay within the typical guidelines for making an effective Battleforce. I'm trying to hit around 30% discount while giving a nice spread of units people likely want/need. I do understand the Battleforces are commonly an effort to clear out old stock from Games Workshop, but I'm sort of ignoring that fact and instead, using it as an opportunity to push new models instead.
Breakdown:
A Jump Captain with a thunder hammer and relic shield
The modern Jump Chaplain
Six Sanguinary Guard
Ten Vanguard Veterans
Land Speeder for mobile fire support (Optional, depending on how much of a discount we want the box to have).
Assuming a $265 USD box price, hereās the breakdown using full US retail prices, before tax or independent retailer discounts.
| Contents | Individual retail value |
|---|---|
| Jump Captain with thunder hammer and relic shield | $45 |
| Modern Chaplain with Jump Pack | ~$42* |
| 6 Sanguinary Guard ā two $62 kits | $124 |
| 10 Vanguard Veterans ā two $67.50 kits | $135 |
| Blood Angels Upgrades and Transfers | $37 |
| Total without Land Speeder | ~$383 |
| Optional Land Speeder | $65 |
| Total with Land Speeder | ~$448 |
How that compares at the same $265 box price
| Battleforce | Retail value | Savings | Discount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Announced Angelus Assault Force | ~$340 | ~$75 | 22.1% |
| Archangel Strike Force without Speeder | ~$383 | ~$118 | 30.8% |
| Archangel Strike Force with Speeder | ~$448 | ~$183 | 40.8% |
What makes this more appealing to me is the actual collection inside.
The version without the Speeder already hits roughly a 30% discount and includes 18 miniatures. The pictured version adds the vehicle for 19 miniatures and a more generous discount.
For another price comparison, the pictured force could sell for $300 and still offer approximately $148 in savings, or 33% off retail.
The modern Jump Chaplainās $42 is an estimated standalone value because the model currently comes bundled with other miniatures. This concept assumes it could be supplied separately. All comparisons assume the same $265 Battleforce price.

"Honorable Astramael, known for defending Baal from an Ork Waagh, defends Baal once more from the ravenous hunger of the Hive mind."
First time doing a full blown diorama for a model, actually learned how to paint Tyranids for this lol. It's also my first time freehanding colored filigree.
Building and painting this guy was lots of fun and I was lucky enought to have an actual photographer in my hobby group take a picture of him! Love it!

Hey everyone!
I wanted to share a small project I have been working on for my best friend's birthday.
He introduced me to the hobby two years ago and I have been hooked ever since. I'm a blueberry and World Eaters player, it's my first time painting the space vampires.
He plays Blood Angels (obviously) and doesn't own Sanguinary Guard, I decided to paint a squad for him but then I thought "might as well give them a leader"... And then I wondered "wouldn't it be cool if they were standing on the same base ?".
Long story short, I made him a diorama, my first one.
All 4 minis are magnetised to the diorama so that he can still play them on the tabletop.
Side note : he doesn't like minis with gold as their base colour, so I looked up how you guys paint this army and got inspired by the 30k Praetor scheme.
Anyways, I thought I'd share it with his community (he doesn't browse reddit so I'm safe).
Hopefully he will like it!
Feel free to ask anything about the process or the painting. I don't consider myself a pro but if I can help any beginner I'd be happy to.

Iām a fairly new player to Warhammer 40k. Iāve only played 6 games so far. Iām currently considering running a Blood Angel army and Iāve built a 990 point army list.
Is this list any good? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Detachment: Angelic Inheritors
Force Disposition: Purge the Foe
Units:
⢠5 Vanguard Vets with Jump Packs led by Dante. (250 points)
⢠5 Death Company Marines with Jump Packs led by Lemartes. (240 points)
⢠5 Death Company Marines with Jump Packs led by Astorath. (220 points)
⢠5 Terminator Squad led by Captain in Terminator Armour. (280 points)

So I've crafted a 2K BA army (its the two combat patrols, Dawn of War box, and two eBay minis) and I'm gonna paint them as the Death Company and it make me wonder what's is everyone's opinions about someone rocking up with a two thousand points worth of nailless world eaters. In my opinion I see them as the spear tip that gets sent to punch through enemy lines

See above text. I vaguely remember a passage from Fear to Tread where Sanguinius is talking to one of his sons and explains that he had a vision of him on Baal. All heād say when asked for details was that āYou were⦠proud.ā
I knew right then what he was referring to. Have details on the Great Angels funeral been released yet? Because that one is going to be a gut punch. Ever since I read that, I had this image in my head of that marine serving as one of the Pallbearers to the great coffin of the Angel, and as he carries it into the final sanctum, he realizes what his father meant all those years ago, and begins to weep, because he *is* proud, proud to be a son of Sanguinius, proud to have known their Gene-father, and proud to have served him this one last time.

About 30 years after first wanting to buy and paint a Dreadnought I finally did it, definitely worth the wait! C&C welcome
