Noone will say not a word about another white dude with black hair flying but some of you have ALL the smoke for other black characters that even have a part of his kit being electricity based.

Some of you might know that I'm making a superhero action game where you own the identity of your superhero. Well, we have this cool idea where we pick a superpower idea you suggest, and build 1 skill of it to try it out in a private build!

So far, we've got 25 ppl in the superhero council who came up with 6 superpower ideas! And we've also got some ideas for super villains as well.

So, I wanted to extend the invitation here as well: join our Discord -> open a thread -> tell us about a superhero idea you have, and we'll build 1 skill for it and try it out :D

Right now, in the game, we have two powers:

Energizer: You control shockwaves and heatwaves. Your skills use energy. Your movement recharges it. The faster you move, the faster you recharge

Rage: Your blood boils with rage and turns your skill attacks into blood flame spills. Your skills damage your health. But your rage builds up with combat.

This is not just me wanting ppl in my Discord btw ... We're genuinely trying to build a superhero action game that YOU want to play over and over again, and the only way to do it is by building it with you :D

Overall I vastly prefer her comic counterpart, her MCU feels like she doesn't have no agency especially with Carol being her god aunt and them erasing her father & just doing anything with her mother. She also kind of lack the " edge " that Monica has in the comics. Plus making it seem like she not an avengers adjacent character so now you seem crazy to even merely suggest to be apart of the avengers without the dudebros trying to argue with you is very annoying.

This isn't EVERYBODY but this can also lead to the low self esteem of black kids whos truggle with relationships growing up. Not only can they possibly not be in a relationship in real life but guys that look like you in the damn CARTOONS have issues to it's like wtf

Sometimes you have to put your work out into the world and hope you can create your own buzz. If the mountain will not come to Tes Mekonenn, Tes Mekonnen must go to the mountain. Guess what? I don't know how to climb.

I have been working on my graphic novel Birth of a New World for years. I have tried pitching to some smaller publishing houses but have had no success. So I'm trying to figure out how to get my story out there. It's been a long process and at times I feel like I'm banging my head against a wall but I know I have something good. It's about two twins that are given the option to take riches or become immortal. One decides to take the riches and one becomes immortal and can give others super powers. This leads into a much greater story.

After a long haul, and lots of help from my writers group here in Santa Fe, I was able to finish my story and comic. Never knew how big of an obstacle creating a 22-page comic could be. I can’t imagine how people writing novels do it!

I picked up a new 2026 copy of the DC Encyclopedia and noticed Nubia on the back.

Nubia has been pushed a lot by DC. They want her to be one of their main black characters and queer characters. She's been in several kid's books, middle grade books, and YA books. She's prominent in at least one DC webtoon/webcomic. She appears a lot on covers and is marketed a lot. No animated appearences yet, though.

So, how is her popularity?
