Angie Nixon and I both got our start as organizers. It taught us something important: Real change starts when regular Folks stand up for what's right. And Angie has spent her career standing up for you.
When working Families were struggling to get by, Angie fought for a $15 minimum wage.
When Politicians in the state capital tried to tell People what they could and couldn't read, she opened a bookstore to let you decide.
And when Republicans tried to redraw congressional maps, to deny Voters a voice, she was on the front lines trying to stop it.
Different issues, different moments, one Leader willing to stand up again and again for what's right.
That's why I believe Angie will be an outstanding US Senator.
So, cast your vote for Angie Nixon, on or before November 3rd.
- President Barack Obama

Description: Before I ever ran for office, I was an organizer in Duval County, knocking on doors and fighting alongside my neighbors because I was tired of our elected officials leaving us without any support. I started organizing, and then eventually ran for office when I realized we need more working people to represent us in our government. ~:~ Today, I’m honored to share that President Obama, who also started as an organizer, is supporting our campaign for the U.S. Senate. ~:~ In his words: “Real change starts when regular folks stand up for what’s right.” ~:~ That’s what this campaign has always been about. ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A Republican candidate running for the state House of Representatives has been arrested on charges of public indecency.
According to a Cobb County arrest warrant, Andre Stafford is accused of public indecency and child molestation in connection with an Oct. 15, 2026, incident in Smyrna.
The arrest warrant said a girl walking to her bus stop was approached by a gray 2024 Kia Forte whose driver exposed himself. Police said Flock surveillance cameras tracked the car to Stafford, whom the victim identified in a photo lineup.
Stafford is running for house district 42 in Smyrna, a seat held by Democrat Gabriel Sanchez.
Stafford has been photographed with a number of prominent GOP officials, including state Sen. Greg Dolezal, who is running for lieutenant governor; U.S. Rep. Barry Loundermilk; and state Rep. Houston Gaines, who is running for a congressional seat now held by U.S. Rep. Mike Collins, seeking to unseat U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff in Georgia’s nationally watched 2026 midterms.
“Mr. Stafford has volunteered on many campaigns across the state this year, including ours,” Collins said. “The charges are sickening, and if they’re true then he belongs on a list and behind bars.”
Jackson’s campaign has said Stafford has no connection to their campaign.
Atlanta News First has reached out to Stafford for comment.

At first I had to wait til my account was 40something days old for my posts to even have visibility here. Now I have to pass an invisible karma ceiling for my posts to be visible in any thread with mildly productive discussion. And then being waterboarded with some fuck ass message about how it’s ‘necessary’ to be this way. And then you try to message a mod with an extremely mild question AND GET BARRED FROM MESSAGING THE MODS AGAIN FOR A MONTH?!?!
HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO MEET THIS CRITERIA WHEN PRO BLACK TALKING POINTS ARE CONSTANTLY MASS DOWNVOTED BY BAD FAITH VISITORS? (Who can still vote in these ‘discussion’ posts btw)
What, am I supposed to ‘yass queen’ and ‘username checks out’ my way into the Black excellence club? At that point, what am I fighting to participate in? I mean fuck, even being frustrated with this level of gatekeeping is probably violating some term and condition and this post will be deleted. 🙄
I understand not having a perfect solution for elevating Black voices here, but I have a feeling many of us are getting swept up in the filters.. which WILL lead to us just saying fuck it and leaving. I’m trying so hard to be a part of space for other Black people but y’all are making it a nightmare.

Gloria Richardson was a civil rights icon and revolutionary activist. Amidst the towering male figures of the 1960s, Richardson stood in no one’s shadow. As much as Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X helped define two separate poles of civil rights activism, Richardson came to represent another distinct wing of the movement.
Richardson graduated from Howard University in 1942 with a degree in sociology and a mission to unapologetically and without compromise demand the satisfaction of the Black community’s basic needs. It was her unyielding insistence that Black individuals needed better health care, safer housing and steadier employment that helped distinguish her from some of the other civil rights leaders of the era.
Richardson made a name for herself beginning in 1963 in Cambridge, Maryland. She became the chairwoman of the Cambridge Nonviolent Action Committee, an offshoot of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee. That year, Richardson led a series of protests demanding improved living conditions for Black residents of Cambridge. The protests attracted backlash from white residents and became increasingly volatile. The governor of Maryland called in the National Guard, which ultimately retained a local presence for an entire year.
Over the course of these protests, Richardson became a public figure of the civil rights movement, gaining fame and prominence for her fearlessness in the face of violent oppression. In one iconic moment, captured in a photograph, Richardson pushes aside the rifle of a National Guard member who got in her way. That simple gesture personified the courage that fanned the flames of her passion and emboldened every step she took as a public leader.
Richardson negotiated with politicians across every level of government as well as leaders in the White House to reach a deal that would help end segregationist practices and provide federal housing aid to the Black community. She ultimately signed a deal, but she did not offer her support of it publicly and the plan ultimately did not pass as it lacked support from both the white and Black communities.
By 1964, Richardson stepped back from the national spotlight and stepped down from her leadership role with the Cambridge Nonviolent Action Committee, leaving space for other leaders to step up. She would continue to advocate for the rights of the Black community for the rest of her life.

The Elephant in the Room:
In a recent episode of The Vic Mensa Show, Vic Mensa and Abdul El-Sayed have a frank conversation about anti-Black sentiment within the Arab and Muslim communities, and how to move toward genuine solidarity.
Vic Mensa highlights to Abdul, his experience growing up in a predominantly Black neighborhood run by Arab shopkeepers who often exhibit anti-Black bias, while also citing instances of anti-Black rhetoric he encountered during his travels in Palestine, and multiple instances of people there, adults and children calling him "Abeed", words for "slave" and "ni**er".
Him and Abdul acknowledges the pervasive nature of this issue, also in Palestine, Sudan, Libya, and even Egypt where his background is, describing it as a "zero-sum" mentality where arab groups think that in order to grow globally they must or exploit the Black community, who are conditioned to accept that explotation and suffering in silence.
Abdul acknowledges, growing up in Detroit he sees how Arabs will take advantage of black oppression in their neighborhoods to sell alcohol, and things that are seen as haram, and dissconext themselves from that community to take advantage of, and how we gotta acknowledge the elephant in the room.
Key Takeaways for Moving Forward:
Accountability: The guest emphasizes that arabs claiming moral high ground (e.g., in faith) while acting in ways that is "haram" and harming another community is a contradiction that needs to be addressed.
Historical Literacy: The guest credits mentorship from Black teachers with helping him understand the history of civil rights and immigration, noting that many communities benefit from legislation fought for by Black organizers and that should be listened too snd learned from instead of being used as a means for their own progression at the expense of black lives.
Broadening the Scope: They agree that fighting for a more equitable society shouldn't be about "joining a club" to secure a seat at the table, but about building a larger table that includes everyone—Black, Arab, white, Asian, and Latino communities alike.
