Is my heart rate too high?

Finished my C25k and am super proud! However my heart rate usually hovers in the high 180s to the low 190s on my runs. I run a slower pace now and it’s brought it from the 200s but I worry since I see people posting theirs in the 160s. I have a higher resting heart rate normally as well. I am a healthy BMI, female 25.

Weighted Running

I’m thinking of incorporating weighted running into my easy runs. I can run a 10K in 53 minutes, but I feel like I’ve hit a plateau and want to improve further. My thinking is that running with weights might make me faster when I switch back to running without them. What are your thoughts?

As the title suggests. Very new to running. Have been playing badminton regularly for some years but pretty new to long distance running and I’m enjoying so far.

I started off with 2.5 miles 4 weeks ago, and I’m at 4 miles today in \~50 mins.

What do y’all think? I’m Male 32.

What should I do? Do I have potential, or am I like Megumi Fushiguro? Am I a fraud?

I am an 18-year-old male, 176-177 cm,57-59 kg. According to AI, this 3:36/km pace is good, and I felt good about it. But this was my performance on a Monday morning. Today, Wednesday, I tried running, and it was an abomination. My leg feels heavy and slow. My breathing and all is fine. What happened to me? I was feeling good about being talented at least in something. Now I feel like a fraud.

-> I have not run more than 25-30 10k ever in my life. And I started running after getting inspired by a movie and to stay lean.

-> I don't know how, but when I was in peak condition as in no dead weight, I could only finish my 10k under 45-55 minutes (then i used to 54kg and maybe 10% BF).

-> I started running last November and stopped during my Class 12 boards.

-> I ran my last 10k about 5 months ago, and finished it in about 48 minutes while being on a perfect no-junk, no-oil diet. Weight around 56kg.

-> The last time I ran anything was 1.5 months ago, when I ran 4.8km.

-> I have been eating a lot of junk food lately and gained fat. Tbh, shouldn't my 10k speed decrease with this? Even the day before my pr, I ate 3 parathas (maida), beef roast, beef curry, rice, tapioca, two egg puffs, 2 some other oily snacks.

-> On Monday and Tuesday, I went back to my controlled diet, with less than 2000 calories.

What should I do? Can I increase my strength and at the same time be better at 10k?

Ps. I run all my 10k purely with nasal breathing, including my pr. What's the correct way to breathe?

My First 15K (And Some PBs)

Been running for a little under two years after quitting smoking (used to smoke a pack a day for about 11 years).

Went from almost not running that morning because I felt a little tired, to pushing past my usual 5K, and then feeling energetic enough to go past 15.
I honestly feel like I could've finished a half marathon, even if at a somewhat slower pace towards the end (my left heel did start to hurt towards the end).

Ignore the heart rate lol, I know it's a little high, but I average 170-180 on quicker runs and feel just fine.

Time to work towards a sub-20 5K and sub-45 10K 👍

Today I ran my 100th run of 2026… and noticed some other milestones

This morning I was not feeling it. It was pitch black when I woke up and felt so much colder than it really was. But I managed to put my shoes on and go for a 25-minute run.

When I finished, I noticed it was my 100th run of the year, which felt amazing. I wasn’t much of a runner before this year (clearly) and have noticed a lot of improvements both in my running and mentally as I’ve worked running into my weekly routine. Not a bad reason to celebrate before 7 am.

Then I noticed it was my first 50+ mile month. Cool! I’ve been working on increasing miles so that felt like a nice little milestone.

Then I noticed that I also cracked 350 lifetime miles. Uh, sure, okay! Not particularly significant, but just happened to be a reasonably nice, round number on a morning with several nice, round numbers lol

Just Signed up for first Half Marathon

A couple of questions!

I'm fairly confident I will be able to do this, as I run 5K 2x a week and long runs on weekends have been up to 8.5 miles. I'm starting a 12 week training plan this weeks which lines up pretty well!

I am wondering.. what is the sock situation everyone has going on? When I go on longer runs i always feel like my toes are starting to like chafe a bit and socks are bunching in the toes by the end?

Also if anyone has any shoe recs that won't break the bank I'm all ears, right now I have the Asics GEL-EXCITE 11 which I like but I feel I may need more support. Any advice for running in the cold welcome too as the race is 1/23 in NY so will be chilly!

Thanks in advance :)

It went way better than I expected and felt great to be back out there. Working toward that sub-1-hour 10K.

I have been walking ~17k steps per day for about a year now. But now i feel like Im not getting the benefits that I used to a year back. So I have started to run now, targetting to run thrice a week. Any tips ? Attaching snapshots of my first true 5K. Finished it barely under 34 minutes. Hope to com

43yold Half Marathon goal

Hi everyone!
I’m new to running and decided to give it a try at 43 years old. I’m 177 cm tall, weigh 93 kg, and have never trained seriously before.
I started working with a running coach two weeks ago. My first week was brisk walking, which I found ridiculously easy. I could complete every session without feeling tired at all.
In my second week, I introduced very slow jogging, and the difference was HUGE! Even though brisk walking felt effortless, jogging was a completely different story.
My first running session was supposed to be 20 minutes, but I stopped after 13 minutes at 7:30/km. I could probably have managed 15 minutes, but definitely not 20. My effort felt around 7.5–8/10.
I’m also waiting for a cardiac check-up, so I didn’t want to push myself too hard.
Running Activity – October 27, 2026
Distance: 1.71 km
Duration: 12:50
Average pace: 7:30 min/km
Average speed: 7.99 km/h
Average cadence: 161 steps/min
Average stride length: 82 cm
Total steps: 2,074
Average heart rate: 152 bpm
Maximum heart rate: 165 bpm
Total ascent: 2.2 m
Calories burned: 152 kcal

My goal is to run a half marathon in March without any walking breaks. I don’t care about my finishing time, just completing the entire 21.1 km running.
Is athis realistic for someone my age and fitness level, starting from scratch? Has anyone experienced such a massive difference between fast walking and slow jogging?

2 years ago, I couldn’t even run 0.1 miles

Back in November 2024, I couldn’t even run for 30 seconds (probably less than 0.1 miles). I couldn’t breathe and would wheeze and choke. It was terrible. Never would I have thought I’d be capable of running a 10k race. This is my very first one (both race and distance)! Super proud of my progress and for sticking with it! My eyes bulged when I saw my pace lol. It’s a good 30-90s faster/mile than usual! 😊

(51f). I need advice about what to eat prior to my first half marathon / training long runs.

I have been an extremely intermittent jogger for all my adult life, but I have never stuck with a consistent training routine for more than a few months. My longest races have been a 5K (running the whole way) several 10Ks (run / walk intervals). I am currently training for a half marathon in February, and I have been training for about 3 months now.

I usually train fasted, which is what I prefer. If I eat prior to training, I can feel queasy and like the food just “sits there,” and I’m just generally not hungry in the morning in general. However, I recognize that this is probably not the best strategy for a half marathon. I would like to go ahead and make a fueling plan, and start working towards eating those same foods prior to my long runs, to get my body used to the routine. I am soliciting input on food/fuel strategies for a beginner eater— any ideas and experience y’all can share would be greatly appreciated.

Other details that may be relevant: I’m an extremely slow runner, I struggle with some connective tissue pain/discomfort, and plan for the race is run / walk intervals that are faster than the time cutoff of 18:00 min/mile.

Thanks in advance for your input.
