Hi everyone! I’m trying to find the name of a beauty/makeup content creator I used to follow before I took a break from Instagram. She’s a smaller/mid-tier creator (around or just under 200k followers).
Here is what I remember about her content:
The Makeup Niche: She does a lot of product reviews and is known for being super honest. Her signature catchphrases are "let’s see if the product eats or not" and "these brands will lie to you, I won't."
The Vibe/Look: She is a Black (mixed-race) woman with a fair/golden complexion and dark, natural curly hair. She also does casual vlogs taking her followers along to the salon when she goes to get her nails done.
Other Vlogs: Her channel name has an 'A' in it (but no 'J'). She recently vlogged her family's cross-country move in a van (maybe to Texas or Georgia), and she had a popular video series trying out traditional box braids for the very first time.
Thanks! 💛

La Roche-Posay launched Anthelios UV Defense SPF 50 in the U.S. on October 20, with a launch price of $39.99, according to its announcement.
It contains bemotrizinol, or BEMT. For clarity, the FDA added that ingredient to its permitted sunscreen actives on June 9—October 20 was the product launch, not a new FDA decision.
Interesting ingredient news, but at $39.99 I’m more curious about the finished formula than the launch claims—especially reapplication and how it sits under makeup.

Is this AI? I can't tell but they didnt credit an artist and if it is AI it should be labeled as AI! I'm sick of brands trying to get away with ts. If youre gonna cheap out and use AI own it with your whole chest.

I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since Chrisspy released this! I guess now everything is short form content, people don’t care to do as an elaborate of a tutorial anymore. I’m glad I got to experience these days even though I could never do this on myself lol

I’ve seen a few videos from some people who talk about makeup, and I thought that their perspective on cool tones versus warm tones was really interesting.
Brontë-Marie (@thebrontemarie) posted something a few months ago about how a lot of people who consider themselves cool toned are actually not cool toned, and a lot of people are jumping on this trend without really understanding their undertone.
I found the conversation interesting, especially as some in the comments noted that there could be sociopolitical reasons why being “cool” toned and feeling like everything turns “orange” on them. I think there are some interesting points there, along with noting that in the past, the pendulum has swung between having very pink foundations (in the 2000s and early 2010s) and then having very orange foundations the last decade.
Ali Ambrose posted a tutorial and mentioned how people need a balance of both warm and cool times on their face. I think people immediately see a peach and get thrown off, so I do kind of understand why she added that caveat.
I do appreciate that now there is more conversation and understanding around the variance of different skintones, and that being fair does not mean you are cool, and being medium or tan does not mean that you are warm. A lot of people are neutral.
I love that we are in a more inclusive place with the understanding of skin tones. That being said, it does rub me the wrong way when people talk about how everything is orange, and sometimes when I look at certain people, they actually look pretty nice in a peachy, orangey, or warm color. I’m not sure why some people are complaining that certain things are pulling warm when they look perfectly lovely on them? I support everyone having their preferences, but everything feels like it has to be super pinky and neutral-cool. It does somehow feel sociopolitical, and I feel like our trends are following the trends of the socio-political environment right now.

I've been thinking about Fenty Beauty and its reputation as one of the most inclusive makeup brands, and I wanted to hear other people's opinions on this.
First of all, I think what Fenty did for shade inclusivity was important. When it launched, it helped challenge the beauty industry's lack of foundation shades for people with darker skin tones. I don't want to dismiss that progress.
However, I feel like when we talk about inclusivity in beauty, we tend to focus mainly on skin tone, and that's where my question comes in: is having a wide range of foundation shades enough to call a brand truly inclusive?
What about people with disabilities, people with visible skin conditions or differences, and neurodivergent people? Are their needs and experiences actually considered when makeup products are designed, when campaigns are created, and when brands communicate with their audiences?
For example, someone with limited hand mobility might struggle with certain packaging, while someone with sensory sensitivities might find some textures, fragrances, or application methods uncomfortable. And when it comes to advertising, I'd love to see more representation of people with different disabilities and skin conditions, without making them feel like an exception or turning their differences into a marketing gimmick.
This isn't just about Fenty Beauty, either. I think the beauty industry as a whole needs to have a broader conversation about what inclusivity actually means.
Do you think Fenty Beauty deserves its reputation as an inclusive brand, or do you think the industry has made inclusivity too focused on skin tone? What do you think genuine inclusivity in beauty should look like?

I think (or maybe I dreamed) a few days ago I saw a Natalie O’Neill video on TikTok where she was talking about how some people put estriol or estradiol cream on their face, and I think she said it does improve skin? And THEN she said she has been (words to the effect of) “doing a hormone experiment of her own”?, and I was planning to go back and watch the video properly the next day because it was late at night. The next morning I couldn’t find the video so I don’t know if it existed or not 😂 but it seems like the kind of video people might get backlash on and delete? Did anyone see this video or am I crazy?
I can’t lie, I’ve been using a retinoid and azelaic acid daily for 6 years and my skin does NOT look like hers so maybe her using something else she’s not telling us about like hormones would make sense? But it would be pretty annoying if she preaches that all you need is a retinoid and azelaic acid to get her skin if it’s not true

The Welsh Twins, James and Robert Welsh were so refreshing a few years ago and even if I didn’t follow skincare recommendations by James, their entertainment was so worth it. It’s a mixture of over-saturation and repetitive content that now I don’t watch them as much. I wish they’d go back to their roots. In their Patreon, they do do some things that are more reminiscent of their original days. I do like how they try to be respectful of others in public. At least that’s my impression. But I wish they’d consider bringing back their custom captioning where it was manually created and some of the flair that came out of being a small team. It seems to be true of every semi-famous influencer with pressure to do more and more YouTube videos, where the content gets redone and the teams outsource more: such as research - I find the research videos shifted into a long-form boring form of content - where James is repeating rather boring facts. But in the past, it seemed more acceptable to have shorter videos. I also enjoyed the simple skincare suggestions. But in this case, I think the content just would have become repetitive with time. I guess they stopped with the rating system of Jackie to appeal to a broader audience who might not know who Jackie is.
On their Patreon, there was mention of Halloween content: ghost stories perhaps? But I haven’t seen any new ghost stories. I hope they are decent people as I keep hearing of people who are really nice in their videos but jerks in real life. They marketed themselves as being down-to-earth, and also mentioned the importance of that in various ways. I know there’s been a Susan Yara controversy. But besides their desire to emphasize K Beauty (both twins, as I know James is the skincare one and Robert is the makeup one - although he seems to dabble in skincare every now and then) is there anything else people have noticed? Positive thoughts are welcome too, lol. I feel they’re decent. I wouldn’t want to have a career talking about skincare and makeup in front of a camera constantly! I would get so bored after a while. And the things that would make it exciting again would take both time and money. The grander things don’t always get the most views from what I read at some point. But ugh I hate having to scale and that influencing content.

Figures the one person I liked watching. I liked her calm voice and natural reviews. I know she does shorts here and there on IG but I don't enjoy shorts at all.
I'm glad she's living her life and not wasting it online but dang I miss her reviews :(

Let's talk about foundations!
With all the new releases of foundation recently, what have you picked up and tried?
*Bonus question:*
What is your favorite foundation you've ever tried?

Patrick Ta is suing CVS for selling his products they acquired through a distributor. It sounds like CVS now has a TJ Maxx/Marshalls type situation where they are selling brands like Patrick Ta and Pat McGrath at discounted prices in some stores. Patrick Ta is claiming it’s unauthorized and want the product destroyed.

Bonus Question
What LE packaging was the most aesthetically pleasing?

Last I saw, they’d deactivated their website while still owing thousands of dollars in product to be shipped, but spending the money on concerts and vacations while trying to source more money in orders to pay for the costs of freight for the outstanding inventory.. oh and let’s not forget the accusations against the owners being neonazis/racist. keep ya coins safe peeps.

I recently saw a reddit threat about the "Behind the controversy" video of Jen Luv about J* so I took a look at her YouTube channel and was surprised how much she still talks about that group of beauty influencers. She talks about Tati or JamesC regularly even though I thought nobody cares about them anymore. I feel like they peaked in 2016 or 2018 and because of the pandemic public interest went way down. Now they briefly go viral again when they mess up (like JC with his brainless TikTok about the woman asking him to share her GoFundMe) and then they are forgotten again. Does anyone really wanna talk about the rotten lipsticks from Jaclyn Hill in 2026?
I feel like Jen still lives in the past in some way and these people that the public mostly has forgotten about still play a huge part in her life. Anyone agree?

Hi, this is YouTuber “Alexandrasgirlytalk” and she was a YouTuber that went viral back in the days of The Kylie Jenner Lip challenge contour videos to achieve a “fuller look”, additionally her at home cheap & quick manicure & pedicure videos, self grooming videos , waxing tutorials etc… #throwback to when she also had unannounced beef with Freelee … Also adding her stark difference in appearance from previous to now omg.. now all her content is sponsored stuff on YouTube like robotic just there to make a quick dollar and disappear months on end and she deactivated her Instagram due to people wondering what happened with her not being malicious but with genuine concern…
