Towering above the enchanted forest, the Elder Tree has watched kingdoms rise and fall, its ancient face carved not by hand, but by centuries of life and magic. Elves have long sought its counsel, believing that within its roots lie the memories of the forest itself. Yet the Elder Tree speaks only when it chooses. Some travelers wait days for a single word, while others leave having heard nothing at all. Perhaps the tree is merely sleeping… or perhaps it knows something about those who seek its wisdom that they themselves have yet to discover.

After a final check on the secureness of the yoke straps binding the horses and oxen to their loads, I gave the Wagon Master a gentle nod. As apprehensive as I was to leave this last bastion of civilization and head into the wilds, we were as prepared as we could be. Our ample supplies, our pair of skilled guards, and our band of teamsters leading the wagons exhumed confidence, but knowing this lot well, I could tell the hesitation was shared among us all.

The Wagon Master and I had taken long and arduous routes in the past, but never this far into the unknown. Each of the many families in the caravan now counted on our expertise and would look to us in the months ahead to keep them alive and moving, no matter what awaited us in the forest deep and beyond.

Brave were the families undergoing this adventure, or perhaps naive, as many of them knew nothing of frontier life, only of city comforts and structured living. I knew with every fiber of my being that our display of confidence was more than just for show, but to keep the morale of a delicate sort of people high in the face of such uncertainty. Gods help us if they lose heart on this journey.

Thankfully that's the kind of activity that's favoured at this wholesome rural roadside market, where hay bale rides, animal pens, and ritual circles compete for the seasonal attention of young and old alike. What's that? Not fond of ritual sacrifices? Tell that to the Skull of the Ancient One, the Unholy Harbinger of the Harvest! Fully animated and available in three additional variants, with more innocuous daytime and night-time variants, and one haunted by a necrotically green aura, bring on the cranberry candy and the cultists, the Witching hour has come!

Humble town street during the autumn. Two inhabited houses and a busy saltworks facility, where workers extract this precious ingredient from brine below. A messy general shop and a small church sit on the south side. Ripe harvests and colourful flora stretch between the houses as far as the eye can see. At the road junction, a small cluster of market stalls includes a whimsical tent selling used artefacts. Let's hope you don't get anything cursed there!

"The rest of the trip could even be pleasant, weren't you rushing to save so many innocent lives. The rowboat glides peacefully across the dim lit waters, here and there broken by stalagtites that pierce through the surface in feeble attempt to reach the stalagmites hanging from the ceiling, never quite making it.

That is until you glimpse a pillar connecting the bottom of the lake and the cavern ceiling, lapis lazuli illuminating its base. A spiral staircase carved around the pillar ascends into a tunnel, sculpted in the same style as the Sea God shrines. The lake stretches on to all sides."
