Interior Interior vent cleaning?
My wife's mother passed away in 2019 and she had a 2003 Toyota highlander w 73k miles she had bought brand new. Initially we left the vehicle in California(we live in CO) for a few years as a way to have transportation when we visited the rest of the family. Parking is a premium there, and ultimately her family wanted the car gone and we didn't visit enough to justify anyway. Bc it sat we had to jump the battery every time it got use and it was just down right filthy. Her family is near the ocean so residue on the exterior was prevalent and the interior almost had like a moldy film on it. We had both interior and exterior hastily detailed and minor repairs performed before we drove it back to CO. My wife never really wanted the car, but I think it's a great little car w low miles plus we live far away from everything and I drive a work truck otherwise and gas is expensive as we all know. I put a new cabin air filter in it, but she swears we're still breathing mold spores and it is super unhealthy and basically she doesn't want to use it. We're supposed to drive back to CA for thxgiving and then the Midwest for Xmas this year and her car gets 10mpg worse than the highlander and obviously my work truck is worse. Long story long my question is, what is the best way to purify the HVAC in that car besides just the cabin air filter? I'm willing to take it to a detail shop if it's something that they can go thru more thoroughly as well beyond just spraying Lysol in the damn vents or something. Thanks for all your help!!
