OFFICIAL Newer Custom Flairs

After seeing some people actually start using the flairs I made, it felt a bit unfair to be the only one with a bright colour. User flairs have been updated to stand out more, and several additional flairs have been added.

QUESTION Why isn’t German used in Czechia anymore (on an administrative level)?

The Maghreb was under French rule for far less than these two countries were under Austrian rule, yet a lot of their legal, educational and business framework still functions in French whereas Czechia and Slovenia have managed to completely eliminate German from their states basically when Austria left. How is that possible?

HISTORY Was the Hungarian dethronement of the Habsburg dynasty a legally and morally correct action in 1849?

Dethronement of the Habsburg dynasty

Main article: March Constitution (Austria))

Protestant Great Church of Debrecen

The dethronement was prompted by four principal causes.

  • The first was the Imperial Constitution of Olmütz), proclaimed on 4 March 1849, which threatened to strip Hungary of its ancient constitution and thousand-year-old statehood and reduce it to a mere province within the centralized Austrian Empire; it provoked widespread outrage in Hungary and became a key immediate cause of the dethronement.\21])
  • The second cause was Francis Joseph's usurpation of the Hungarian throne;\6])
  • The third was the repudiation by the Habsburg court of the April Laws, which had been enacted by the Hungarian Diet and sanctioned by King Ferdinand V on 11 April 1848;\22])
  • And fourth, most decisively, the "usurper's" attempt to forcibly overthrow Hungary's legitimate constitutional government and elected representative parliament by the Habsburg army, which was interpreted by the government and Hungarian parliament as an "attempted coup by military force".\6]) The Hungarian Diet consequently declared the dethronement of the entire Habsburg-Lorraine dynasty at the Great Calvinist Church of Debrecen on 14 April 1849.\23])

"But no one can by any family compact dispose of the constitutional throne without the Hungarian nation."

— Lajos Kossuth, Declaration of Independence by the Hungarian Nation (14 April 1849), translated and abridged by Francis William Newman (1853).\27])

QUESTION Qualification Badges and Lanyards.

Hi everyone!

I've been doing some research on Austro-Hungarian qualification badges and lanyards, particularly those worn by infantrymen, and I've come across a few things I'm not entirely sure about.

  1. Were sharpshooter lanyards considered separate awards from other qualification badges, or were they part of the same system?
  2. Did receiving a qualification badge automatically entitle a soldier to wear a corresponding lanyard, or were these awarded independently?
  3. Were qualification badges still awarded after the outbreak of WWI in 1914, or were they discontinued?
  4. What about sharpshooter lanyards specifically? Could soldiers still earn them during the war, or were they only worn by men who had qualified before 1914?

I'm particularly interested in the 1915–1918 period, especially ordinary k.u.k. infantry units.

If anyone has contemporary regulations, photographs, or other primary sources that might clarify this, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks in advance!
