Family member squashed her under a bag all night and she survived. She was full of dust, so got as much off as i could as put her in a covered spot outside, just hoping her and the babies make it 🥹

My kids found this really gorgeous spider in the yard and would love to know what kind it is. Located south east Victoria.

accidentally dug this monster up when digging a hole about 30cm deep. I put it back under some leaves near where i found it and it started digging. in eastern suburbs of melbourne vic

Garden orb weaver 💖

Been hanging out in the bathroom a couple days, I’m assuming something common but it looks cool with all the colours!

Misses found this guy lurking in the pantry. Located in west Melbourne. These guys give us the icks. I picked up the mayo bottle and gently transported it with the spider on it to the backyard.

Spotted in Holsworthy, NSW

Was hiking in wellington mountain and I came across a couple of these beautiful spiders. Anyone here know what they are?

Could I get some help please. Bendigo Vic Was the size of a pea or even smaller. Shiny black body with iridescent abdomen in the sunlight (doesn't show up in photo) thanks!

On walking tracks on fraser island/k'gari QLD, seeing some cool spiders.

If anyone could ID them for me please, that would be amazing.

PHOTOS: usual vs current behaviour

My huntsman has recently started hiding at the bottom of his enclosure, seemingly burrowing at the base of the bark. Usually it prefers staying further up, and even exploring a bit when the room is dark enough.
It has been fed and watered recently.
Any help?

Found in Brisbane, assuming juvenile because I am unfamiliar, but also new to QLD so still learning. <2mm long. A bit jumpy (literally) but very happy to stay on my hand. Very shiny metallic.

Size is approximately 5cm across.

Moves jerkily like a jumping spider though I never saw it actually jump, and it's much larger than the jumping spiders I normally see. Pretty cool markings on its back.

What a name! 🤩

I'd noticed an impressive dangling thingy appear on this tin near my home the other day. Today it multiplied! I went over and tried to capture some decent photos (with great difficulty - it's an awkward spot) and used the internet to discover... She's called a Magnificent Spider! Well I'm chuffed. She's absolutely beautiful, and I hope I get to see her build a few more of her spectacular egg sacs, and I wish her babies the best life.

Apparently they have an ingenious hunting technique whereby rather then building a wheel web, orb weaver style, she dangles one strand of web with a

'bolas', that is, a drop of sticky, pheromone containing liquid, on the end. This mimics the mating scent of female moths to attract and capture the males. Neat!

I'd love to try getting better photos, so stay tuned to see if I manage to achieve this!

She was given a drink and relocated outside of the air conditioning.
