What kind of adventures/road trips have you guys taken your S4 on?
How did it fare on those trips?

Buyer beware; the people with 1 day old accounts astroturfing comments about where to buy their Audi poster will scam you.
I do my best to remove them but be careful pls.

I picked up a 2015 S4 -- 6MT -- Sport Diff with 198,000KM for lets say 10K all in. Ive owned alot of cars in my life, W204 C63 507 Ediiton, Civic Type R, GTI's, etc... and also have been in the car industry for over 10 years and have driven an insane amount of cars. (I was a manager at Mercedes-Benz for a long time).
Honestly, I didnt know what to think of this S4 when I first bought it. The main reason I picked it up is because a buddy of mine has had his for 8 years and has over 440,000KM on the dash, original engine and trans, he has the Automatic version.
After driving it for a few months I absolutley love the drive, car drives amazing, super solid, pulls hard and its fun rowing gears.
Car is all stock, I bought it from a retired guy who drove it as a commuter car.
Service Done at 170,000KM --
Air Filter
Antirfreeze Flushed
Drive Belts Replaced
Engine Cleaned
Seprtine Belt Replaced
Spark Plugs Replaced
Thermostat Replaced
Waterpump Gasket Replaced
Water Pump Replaced
The issue im having now is my suspension, I got a quote from mechahnic saying almost all of the bushing joints are worn and need to be replaced and got a quote fo $3K..
Thats too much IMO, I foudn the arms on Germanparts.ca but man theres a shitload of arms, the suspension is insane on these things... lol.
Has anyone ever had the same issues ?
Wondering if I should fix it, or sell it and find something else. I just dont know if I want to dump 3K on bushings lol.

I need to get new strut mounts m not sure but i listen little noise on bumps and. ONE IMPORTANT THING somedays when i cold start I listen timing rattle rattle for like 1 second no more than 1 second and some days its completely silent. Is that rattle something to be worry about ? PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT RATTLE !!

Hello!! Bought a b8.5 S4 avant a few months ago - been loving it since!!
Does anyone know if you can code the oil temp on the second picture (currently reading as 0c I had just started the car) to show instead of the Bluetooth thing at the top of the first image?
Basically I would like to be able to see my oil temp and my speed (as a number) at the same time.
Wanted to ask before buying any OBDeleven or similar tools
Thanks all!!

Is 10500 unreasonable for a fairly clean 2014 s4 with 135k miles

Not very mechanically inclined. Recently purchased this b9.5 S4 which had the water pump/thermostat replaced by dealership prior to purchasing. Had to refill coolant once but its seemed like a very slow leak. Now im seeing this? Did they fck up the replacement?

I’m replacing the control arm bushings on my Audi and the other bushing has a thin outer metal rim to place your cup over to press that bushing in, however the other bushing on the control does not have an outer metal rim to press on, it’s only rubber with the metal bolt opening. Is it safe to place a small socket over the metal bolt opening and press the bushing in that way or will I blow out the rubber trying to press it in? The part circled in Red is where I’m planning on placing the socket to press it in? I’m not sure how else you press that style of bushing in?
Thank you!

Hi Team looking to buy an S4 Avant shortly, just need to make sure I budget and can source an Android Auto screen upgrade.
Just looking for advice on what unit people recommend, particularly for a Right Hand Drive vehicle. (That is the wheel is on the Right side of the car)
I'm after a unit that looks like the factory screen not the big tablet sticking out of the dash. I've seen the RSNAV unit but can't figure out if it supports RHD or not.
Any wisdom appreciated.

I currently have a 2018 b9 s4 that just reached 50k km. What is the mechanical roadmap for the next 2 years or 20k km? I am aware of the rocker arms issue and I don’t know if mine has old or updated version.

I have a 18 S5 i got it about a month ago with 31k miles. I’m looking for some info a lot which company to go with for the E85 tune for stg1+.
Any advice info comparing tunes from both tuners would be helpful, driveability, reliability, features and such.
I saw the IE released the new updates earlier this week. I also know that IE is the only one with a true flex fuel tune.
I dont have a work commute so the cars for errands and going places s well as some joy riding. I’m use to riding motorcycles. New to sporty cars.
I’m hoping some of you guys have some first hand experience between both tunes to provide some advice on which tuner to go with.
I hear the Tcu tune from 034 is better than IE’s tune but IE’s ecu tune is more aggressive than 034? I do like the new updates from IE for CarPlay integration with their app. I’m not sure how far away 034 is from that. I was initially thinking about 034 but when i heard that IE was the only one with a true flex fuel tune i thought about going IE but I would like to get some inouts from people who have went with both tuners for the stg1/+ E85 tune.

I'm looking at buying a 2005 S4 (as discussed here - https://www.reddit.com/r/AudiS4/comments/1x7gvft/2005_s4_would_you_buy_it/).
The car has a pretty serious oil leak from the back of the engine. It does NOT leak while it's sitting or running, but right after it's shut off it dumps what looks like about half of a liter of oil on the ground within about 2 minutes of shutting it off.
The owner has taken it into an Audi specialist shop in Toronto, and they think it's a leak from the lower timing cover and are quoting $4000 to do a trans-out re-seal of the cover.
The owner said that the leak started after he had the clutch and flywheel replaced, but he hadn't seen it leak oil that severely before. I feel like it would be a feat to disrupt the timing chain cover when doing a clutch replacement, but who knows... It could also be a rear main seal (which would be a similar "worst case" scenario).
It "seems" like the PCV is OK - it pulls a gentle vacuum through the oil fill hole when the cap is off and the car is at idle. Also of note, when I checked the oil it did seem to be overfilled a bit.
I couldn't see where the leak was coming from as it was sitting on the ground and it's hard to see back there, but I'm a bit skeptical of their diagnosis. I would definitely start further up the chain with cam covers, half moons, oil filter housing and valley pan seals, cam solenoid seals, etc. and then see what happens. If that doesn't resolve it I would need to take it into a shop for a RMS or timing cover re-seal as I don't have the ability to do that in my driveway.
Just wondering if anyone has a gut instinct or can share what might be a common culprit for this issue.
Thanks very much!

Been having this problem for a while. These buttons will glitch and I can’t access my MMI. Happens intermittently for about 10-20 minutes at a time. I’ve trained spraying it with electric cleaner and compressed air but nothing has helped it.

Hey guys, new to the community. I've got a new (to me) 2012 S4 with 130,000mi and I've started going through all the maintenance items and repairs. I noticed that my coolant levels seem to stay consistent and I haven't seen any oil or water contamination, but my overflow reservoir is old and brittle (and just looks plain ugly imo). I've always been a fan of engine bay shaves within reason, and I figured I could replace my reservoir with an aluminum one to better handle temps and look nicer in the bay, but I can't find a dedicated aftermarket option. Just universal kits, and I don't have access to welding/fabrication tools currently. Has anyone done this before, and if so do you have any pointers? Additionally I'd like to clean up the routing for wires and fuel lines and such, any experience in that? What all brackets and lines and stuff can I remove from the bay to simplify and make it easier to work on? This is my first car, first time modifying, and I don't have a ton of tools. All mods have been done by myself and a friend or two, except the test pipes. Just doing my best to appreciate what I have while improving/personalizing what I can. Thanks in advance.
current mods:
- 034 intake with 034 stage 1 ECU/TCU tune
- PLM heat exchanger with shorter coolant line runs to/from supercharger
- CAP test pipes (cats were blown, caused an exhaust leak)
- Transmission mount insert bracket
- nice interior bits, unnecessary to list
maintenance already addressed:
- new oem pcv
- new oem oil pan & oil cooler (potholes suck)
- new oem engine mounts (installed right before I bought)
future stuff:
- proper intake valve cleaning and inspection on waterpump, pcv, and thermostat
- timing chain tensioners 💀 (no slop yet, but mileage of car strongly suggests I do this)
- planning on going stage 2+, dual pulley
- aluminum oil filter mount (pretty sure my oem one is leaking)
- install an oil catch can during warm months
- replace supercharger intercooler cores
- potentially replace pcv with aftermarket aluminum one
- new brake rotors, pads, tires, and front arm bushings
- swap 19in wheels for lighter 18in bronze ones (wider and larger tires, more sidewall for comfort)
