Found this at the Albany muffin break today. Photographed on Wed 28 Oct. Very creative way to see who people are choosing as we wait for the final results.

Seems like every muffin break is doing this.

What are our thoughts?

Post image
283 Upvotes

Started making lunch for work to save money. Today I have 2 hard boiled eggs, a chicken, avo, lettuce and homemade pickle mayo sandwich. Avo was 75c each, sliced chicken from deli counter at woolies. Freyas bread and Pam's mayo/mustard/pickles, lettuce from paknsave. Eggs from warehouse.

Cost - $1.50 for sandwich and around $1.60 for two eggs. A bottle of water from the tap.

Not bad - came in under $3.50 for the lot

Question/Help Wanted Help find the people who broke into my car in Auckland CB

Hi everyone,

About two weeks ago, on 7th of october, two people smashed the window of my car in the Auckland CBD and took all my belongings, including my luggage and personal items. I'm a backpacker and had just arrived from China from vacation, so I lost nearly everything I own. I know leaving my things in the car was a mistake, but I had nowhere else to store them.

They also used one of my stolen cards at Countdown. I've attached the CCTV photos from the store.

I've since heard they've been spotted around the CBD again. If you recognise them, have seen them, or know anything, please message me or contact the police. Even small details help.

I've filed a police report, but I'd love any help the community can give. If you find or come across any of my stolen items, please let me know.

Objects like sony a6000, valorant champions jacket, China starbucks cup, demon slayer figure, pop mart boxes, x361 shoes,Essentials hoodie

Thank you so much, and please look after your belongings. šŸ™

So here goes… my son and I moved into our rental 4 years ago.
My house is attached to the front of a split property, so she lives in the front and I rent at the back.

We have been tormented by this woman since we moved here. She is drunk constantly and drives drunk constantly, police are often at her house , as she continues to bring men home who move in the next day they get drunk and argue and then the guy leaves and then is back the minute the other guy leaves.

I know that there is rugs being used, I have texts and videos of her screaming and yelling at myself and arguing while she is day drunk with whoever she brought home the night before.
She is literally pissed right now and the language that comes out this person’s mouth astounds me.

My issue is she is a teacher.
She doesn’t take care of her property the path is almost covered from her weeds at the front.
But she seems to have a self entitled attitude with everyone she speaks to. She is always yelling at people on the phone. She has been fired three schools. I know 100 percent she drinks and drives in the morning to school and smokes drugs . Yet she gets away with it constantly ?
We do not engage with her which pisses her off more.. I have cancer and I’m sweeping my path and she yell over my fence to just hurry up and die.
She is a lunatic but, I feel like I have no rights because I rent and she owns.

I would hate for her to teach my kids.
Any advice…

EDIT…
I haven’t moved because I love my home , and I have a dog , I have also created a beautiful garden, I am also half way through my breast cancer journey.
Why should I…all my surrounding neighbours know of her b.s. we live in a nice area and to be honest I really want her to finally be held accountable for her actions.
My kids have literally heard her having six on her deck during the day. She has had students climb my fence to drink in her property when she isn’t there and broken my outside furniture.
I’m just wanting to kinda get her to be held accountable for once. Believe me if you heard how this thing talks to people. We had a neighbor three weeks ago call police on her because she followed them in their car and threatened the, for driving to close.

She throws cornflakes on the drive way to feed her cat

Employment Genuinely miserable

Recent Computer science graduate, applying every day, trying to connect with people, barely surviving by eating 1-2 meals a day and trying to stretch them out, rent to my mum is $300 a week, stress and panic attacks follows me to sleep, feel guilty for not exercising enough because of increasingly poor mental state. Trying to look into any job or physical work for income every day and contacting employers too. Feel like a failure in front of my mum, even though she doesn’t say it to me.

I’m looking into side hustles too, but my main focus is securing steady employment and income.

How are you all feeling? What do you work as and how much do you earn? Am I able to connect with anyone you guys might know or yourself?

Public Transport Trains are at Capacity (yay!)

Used the Western line to commute this morning just after 8 and all six cars were quite full by Morningside and by Mt Eden it seemed like a few people wouldn’t be able to get on but people in the cars shuffled a bit closer in the aisle and everyone made it.
I think the rail network is gonna smash all expectations and get beyond capacity just like Britomart did. Somebody tell the florist lady!!

From just before 5 PM, a series of bangs, followed by a whole bunch of sirens moving past over several minutes.

Discussion Bin-gate: cheeky neighbour took our bin and filled it

Our suburb is not flash, but usually friendly and safe. Now last week our red lid rubbish bin went missing. We just got a new one bc the old one was taken as well. The old one was barely holding together so I was keen on a new one. Ordered from council, boom flash new bin arrives. She’s clean as a whistle, has our address label and a new feature, a code embossed in the plastic. There’s no doubt this is our bin.

After our first collection day with this new beauty, she’s gone MIA. I’m thinking, someone mistook the bin and it’ll be back tmrw. Nope. Potentially 2 bins taken in the last 2 weeks.

Now it’s the following collection day, she’s back! Defiled with loose chicKing bones and medical waste (gloves, dressings etc). I know who took it. There’s no doubt in my mind. They also missed collection last week and their overflowing bin sat on the berm for a while. I walk past it daily when taking my kids to school.

So I’ve got my bin back, waiting on an empty. Would you just move on? Or revenge? Or should I just order another bin and give it to them because you gotta be pretty destitute to do that when you can just order your own new bin?

Discussion Does heavy AI usage makes you second guess?

If a company uses AI a lot on their website, would that somehow alter your perception on their competency/trustworthiness?

For context, i am looking into these guys for cleaning my HVAC units (https://thecoolingcrew.co.nz/) mainly due to their lower price and good google reviews. However checking their website, facebook and instagram, the content is obviously AI and that somehow makes me second guessing everything. What do you guys think?

EDIT: From a customers perspective not a business owner.

Maybe weresheep?

Stories from the 19 century? 20 century? 21 century?

Would love to read or listen to real stories for this halloween šŸŽƒ about Auckland.

Discussion Inflation on…. repeat prescriptions?

Post image
19 Upvotes

I’m so sick of greedy, seedy businesses and the rich idiots in power who make it easier to squeeze every dollar you have from your wallet to afford basic essentials.

I was a huge advocate for the Tend services because I think healthcare should be this accessible and easy, but obviously that comes at a price i now see….

Getting a repeat prescription used to be 19.99 iirc. Now it’s $29.95!!!!😢

I have medication scripts for 3 separate medications and luckily two of them come under the same charge when I need repeats, but then this one comes separately for some reason and I can’t get them to align them to repeat at the same time so I’m forced to pay this charge twice for my repeats each time I need them. Thank god chemist warehouse still has free prescriptions to pick them up.

I’m so tired of being a puppet to the rich in this capitalist hell scape of a country.

Rant Does anyone else go to the Simplicity Fitness in Mount Welly and notice a couple people that smell really bad?

I’ve been going here for maybe 5ish months now and there’s two guys in particular that I’ve noticed. One wears a green singlet and I’ve seen him wear it 10+ times I’ve been to the gym, I genuinely don’t think I’ve seen him wear anything else. It kinda gets annoying because they stink up the whole area but I don’t want to come across rude and they take it the wrong way if I tell them lmao. The other dude usually wears a white singlet and always wears the same outfit too, and he also stinks up the whole area too.

I know it’s a gym and people are obviously going to sweat but it’s every single time I’ve seen them and it’s the second they walk in, you can smell it. It stinks really bad usually you can smell it from the other side of the gym … Makes me think do they even use deodorant or realise they smell 🫠 I’m not trying to be rude or anything but surely I can’t be the only one who’s noticed?

Question/Help Wanted Sailing - how to go from dinghy to keelboats?

Hey sailors.

I'm an adult sailor (35 M) that started sailing earlier this year and now about to complete my Level 2 sailing class. These were held in a RS Quest dinghy.

What's the next step in progressing to a keelboat? I'm quite happy at the helm of the quest, though I wondered is that enough to jump into a keelboat ?

The club I'm with doesn't have Keelboats to hire or learn on.

The level 3 is more focused on racing, which I'm not keen on, more just general cruising.

Cheers.

Housing Dairy flat fast-track project declined...

... looks like Bishop has got the message regarding fast-track and housing. Wonder if all these declined applications could be used in a court battle against the other ones that have been approved (eg. Orewa). Fast-track should never have been used for housing.

Discussion Any inside info on what happened to the Woolworths brand of zero-sugar lemonade? Is it coming back?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I’ve been purchasing this lemonade over the past 6 months, as it’s far cheaper than Sprite Zero and I found the taste similar. A couple of weeks back I noticed my 2 local Woolworths were out of stock. I just put it down to them being sold out, which has happened before. However after speaking with the staff today, apparently they have discontinued it including their other range! They did mention to me the possibility that it was competing with the sprite range which I can understand with it being the cheaper alternative. FYI there is also a post here about it šŸ‘‡
