For the Kings: Clears out a crowded backcourt to turn the minutes and team leadership over to Acuff. For the Hawks: I think a bigger trade is in the works.

DDR is an absolute leader, Carter was their energy guy. They are not keeping DeRozan when getting rid of Carter and DDR = getting below the Apron. They are wayyyyyy too sorry to even be near the cap!

First off I got a notification that said the Hawks are acquiring G Devin .... And before I expanded the rest of the noti, I thought for a second we landed Devin Booker lol
Second, nice I liked him out of the draft
Third, I met him IRL once and he was nice :)

u/Simple_Purple_4600 Jun 29 '26
he was coming back from injury and was getting established last year. I had him in fantasy down the stretch and was keeping an eye on him. I think he's better than his current rep and it's only 5 mil.

u/LfromHT Jun 29 '26
Kings giving us a 2nd for this guys contract. Better than having Wallace/Djurisic like we had last year though lol

Gotta be setting up for a big trade

u/Current_Unlikely Jun 30 '26
I saw that kings are very interested in Duren and have been tied to Kuminga so there could be some smoke here. I’m just hoping we not in on Sabonis I like him as a player but not playing center for my Hawks. We need rim protection .

Gotta be the worst basketball related feeling in the world for an NBA player to have their team give up assets just to get off your contract

Is he better than Gabe Vincent?

Dude gives a lot of hussle, but has this insane rainbow jumper that's under 30% from 3 and the worst hairline I've seen in a minute. Just shaved his head though, so maybe he'll get a power boost now.

u/No-Sherbert-5187 Jun 30 '26
Just watched video on Carter. The ball left the screen in just about every shot. Never seen that

Depth matters and often times these trades on the edges of the team matter a lot
9
u/AUTigers1 Jun 29 '26
he’s end of rotation guard backup like Keaton was last season. I like this move in that context
9
u/FullCourtFocus Jun 29 '26
Good track record of Sacramento 1st-round guards leaving and making the Finals. Hawks to the Finals confirmed.
9
u/KingofUlster42 Jun 29 '26
I actually like Devin Carter, I thinks a he’s a hardworking bench piece. I’m surprised yall are so low on him, he can’t shoot but I like him as a slashing PG
2
u/decriz Jun 29 '26
Dyson + Devin, beasts on D, shit on shooting
4
u/iwouldhugwonderwoman Jun 29 '26
You only gotta make one basket if you keep the other team from making any.
A 2-0 win is still a win!

Kings dump salary. Hawks take a chance on a former 1st rounder and give up no real assets. Onsi doing Onsi things.
12
u/Dracsmith Jun 29 '26
Did we flip Kispert for a year three breakout candidate???🥹
9
u/Poo_onballz Jun 29 '26
Nah salaries don’t match
1
u/Dracsmith Jun 29 '26
Yeah I just saw he makes 5 mill. We are getting paid to take on the salary I guess
9
u/Poo_onballz Jun 29 '26
According to Brad on twitter we could be using the 5 mil capela TPE
7
u/Dracsmith Jun 29 '26
All Kispert jokes aside. I love this move. Devin Carter is a perfect guy to compete with Kingston Flemming.
Nothing is given
6
u/Blackmesa560 Jun 29 '26
If Onsi can pull a heist like Veesaar or use it in trades, that alone is value. Salary filler for trade as well
5
u/MegaMatrix08 Jun 29 '26
What would you even give up
11
u/Non-mon-xiety Jun 29 '26
Hawks gave nothing except taking his salary and got a pick for the trouble

u/dangheckinpupperino Jun 29 '26
He has to shave his head if he wants to play here bro lol
2
u/_just_here_to_read_ Jun 29 '26
Why was that my first thought after reading this post 😂 If he stays around that Atlanta Effect has its work cut out.
3
u/dangheckinpupperino Jun 29 '26
Lmao I don’t mean to be mean as most of guys will eventually suffer his fate but he’s gotta let go bro

u/Historical_Main5261 Jun 29 '26
He’ll be in our like 3rd guard group if he is still on the team, its whatever
5
u/Boraismybae Jun 29 '26
True, would have rather just kept Gabe for the minimum tho. Good locker room presence and can help Kingston grow.
1
u/Historical_Main5261 Jun 30 '26
Think that woulda been fine too, got a second out of it and maybe the hawks think the shot can be coached and he can be improved
8
u/tallassmike Jun 29 '26
Well Sac didnt have any high hopes from their young guys. They’ve been moved out.
More room for Acuff to play
7
u/BenTek9s Jun 29 '26
his hair generates negative aura and hurts his perception, but yeah, he's not any good
5
u/MegaMatrix08 Jun 29 '26
He was pretty good for the tanking kings
1
u/birdseye-maple Jun 29 '26
He was not pretty good, shoots 27% from 3 and is a solid negative on metrics

DC is super underrated he contributed to a couple of winning games while in Sacramento (he doesn’t really play).
Imagine a lanky lower level Davion Mitchell. He is a defensive minded guard with decent scoring abilitys. He has potential to be a good bench player.
main issue tho is DC isn’t a pg but has the frame of one. He plays like a forward and his skills are unpolished. Also as a kings fan the reason DC doesn’t play is because of politics. The kings are kinda in a dictatorship where the owner Vivek dictates who to draft, trade and gets to play. Honestly DC should of played more same as Keon Ellis who never played

He’s young and a pretty good defender definitely worth taking a chance on

u/No-Sport276 Jun 29 '26
He’s worth a flyer. The kings tank a lot of guy’s stock. I know he’s been injured/bad, but he is a talented player. Maybe the change of scenery will help. Gabe Vincent replacement?

Further evidence to support never drafting a guard in the first round who isn’t dynamic on ball in college.

What did Atlanta exactly give out?

Nothing, we’re taking his salary

He is better than kispert and gabe, 100%
3
1
u/dangheckinpupperino Jun 29 '26
On the defensive side of the ball? Yeah.
But he’s not that much better than Keaton for his salary. If we wanted a failed top 15 pick backup PG we could’ve just kept Bufkin.
I don’t think he moves the needle.
5
u/Bully_Maguire420 Jun 29 '26
You don’t look at a minor trade for a third stringer and value it based on if it’s a needle mover win now play lol.
1
u/ATLcrashout Jun 29 '26
Devin Carter way better than gabe and kispert and a free 2nd round pick, onsi u the greatest bro

Time to package him back to SAC for Sabonis

u/Odd_Tourist_3249 Jun 29 '26
Okay I need that Grandpa Simpson meme where he's stepping in and then out of the Hoe House after seeing Bart! 😅

u/BroDoc22 Jun 29 '26
He’s trash, I feel like onsi is putting together a trade. No way this guy actually sees the floor for us
