I’ve been living in Van for about 4 years now…and I’m finally looking to upgrade from our current apartment to something with a little more space. I am so surprised at how many buildings are not pet friendly, or have grandfathered pets into the building but not allowing new ones.

Has it always been like this? I’m finding it really had to find apartments that are pet friendly. Also are pet deposits the norm here? (I only ask because it’s illegal to ask for them in Ontario)

I've noticed a few posts about issues with Sun Towers in Burnaby, and would like to learn more about their build quality and overall feedback, or anyone currently waiting for their presale with them.

In Europe and Asia, climate action isn't politicized like it is in North America. In Europe and Asia majority of governments don't politicize it, it's not a left or right issue, they all support climate policies. Why can't Canada stop politicizing climate action?

Hey folks, visiting from Seattle. Last couple of times we came through we went to a lovely place called Noodle Arts in the West End, they had fantastic hand pulled noodles and we loved the customization. Looks like they're permanently closed, does anyone have any similar recommendations around there or in general?

I just completed some big personal accomplishments/tasks that had many hurdles in the way. I joked to my friends that 'now I get a cookie!'. Only, I am realizing it wasn't a joke. It’s a 2004 eclipse GT. It was running and driving before. By the sounds of it the belt was out of time or jumped a tooth and bent the valves when the mechanic turned over the engine.
He’s now trying to get her to foot the bill for his fuck up. On top of that he said he won’t compression test the junkyard engine he plans on replacing it with. So it could be a complete piece of junk

This is absolute bullshit, he’s trying to deflect blame all the usual crap. Has anyone been able get a mechanic like this to pay up for his mistakes. Trying to bill his insurance, anything?

I'm a 32 year old woman with an alcohol addiction and mental health issues. Alcohol is absolutely detroying my life and has been for 12 years now. I really want to stop. I have a psychologist I see weekly which is great but I've decided that I need more help for a little while to make this really big change. Does anyone have experince with treatment centres or any advice. I've done some research on my own and I'm really interested in the Heartwood program but I'm super open to other suggestions. Also does anyone have any ideas about the wait times for residential treatment? Thanks in advance!

It’s rather specific but my mom with her cancer needs to take Creon (pancreatic enzyme) and I was wondering if anyone was able to fill their prescription at pharmacies around Vancouver recently (its been facing a global shortage for awhile). Ive tried costco and safeway so far- Im going to try calling more pharmacies around me in the meanwhile but hoping to ask here in case anyone had any luck.

I am currently ordering salad kits through "Inspired Go" but the plastic waste is BRUTAL.

I enjoy the convenience and variety that Inspired Go has to offer but financially and environmentally I just can't support them anymore.

I noticed Fresh Prep has salad kits now, are they any better? Or have you tried any of the alternatives?

And yes, obviously I should make my own but I have my reasons for ordering the kits.

Hello Vancouver, I have been to Oxygen Yoga and I found it hard to relax when you are crammed so close to the person beside you that any outward from your mat stretch is going to touch them. I just personally find a little bigger personal space bubble more comfortable. I am wondering if anyone has been to any yoga studios in Vancouver proper they can suggest where you have a bit more personal space. Don't care about hot or normal yoga. Thanks!

This is a bit of an unusual question.

I have been trying to hunt down a place that has a barqs root beer Slurpee. I have definitely had it before but I can't remember where or even when, though I know it was quite some time ago

I've found some places with mug root beer and some with barqs cream soda but after checking out many leaves, I've yet to find that elusive root beer.

I've always heard WorkSafeBC is a great place to work and was surprised to see the Glassdoor reviews are so bad. The ratings seem to have tanked recently so I'm wondering if something happened.

#urgent i might need advice from someone who’s been through something similar or knows a good specalist. never thought I’d be asking this but do I just book a private mri or keep pushing//waiting for the requisition. (also recs for spine specialists or sports physiotherapists) wait times are really LONG my doctor said I’ll graduate before they give me an appointment but basically
I had a really bad incident this summer & I'm struggling with a spine fracture and other chronic flare ups, and I feel like I'm not being taken seriously by doctors because I look ‘fine’ which I do look normal? like idk do i need to be bleeding out for it to be urgent. my symptoms have changed the trajectory of my life rn. i had to stop working, cause I literally can’t do the work// i worked as an OTA and at a physio clinic and was training to teach Pilates, alongside my normal studies so movement is literally to both my career and everyday life. i barely manage walking for more than around 30 minutes a day. & numbness involving my spine and legs, and it's becoming increasingly difficult to manage my normal daily tasks and even sitting down is hard so I can’t really focus on studies/class. i try to manage with what i can so i don’t crash out.

another thing is that i normally get treatment abroad, but at the moment, I haven't been given medical clearance to fly. I'm in so much pain that I struggle to sit for the length of a flight, so travelling abroad for treatment isn't currently a realistic option.
