Advice Tips on how to not to cry when at school when missing your parents? 🪰

I know at first this seems childish, but I (14nb) haven't seen my parents since Saturday due to a medical emergency my dad had while we were on a cruise so that meant that when we docked, my mom (who's went to support my dad) and my dad had to immediately leave to go to the ER, and the ER they're at is like 8 or 9 hours away from where we live, and I miss them dearly so any tips on how to not cry when missing your parents? 🪰

Advice How can I help my 11 year old deal with a friend that has "turned" on him?

• Upvotes

My son, 11, has a good core of 4 friends. A new kid has joined and has gotten 1 of the friends in the group to tease him a lot. The other 3 will join in sometimes, but my son doesn't mind them doing it as much, probably because it is more lighthearted and not as constant. My son is not the type to just ignore it or pretend it doesn't bother him, so the kid always succeeds in getting a reaction out of him. This started as typical boys making fun of each other behavior but I fear it is going in a bad direction. I'm really happy that he is sharing this with me and I told him I would think about it and we would come up with a plan together for how to deal with it.

I've already suggested pretending it doesn't bug him, branching out to other kids, tring to talk to his friend or freezing out the problematic kid, but he didn't like any of those suggestions and he is genuinely afraid that he will end up losing all of his friends.

Any ideas?

Relationship Why are you kids so promiscuous?

So, I grew up in a time, while the movies/TV shows and rappers glorified promiscuity, the teens were still respectful of relationships and cheatings were quite rare, or at least that was a taboo and something that was stigmatized.

Nowdays when I chat with young adults I run into almost 100% of their first relationships ended because of cheating.

I mean early relationships are bound to fail because teens are still figuring things out, but where did the moral values around loyalty go?

Advice My parent is concerned about me not dating? What should I do?

Not disclosing my age since idk don’t feel like it but I’m a young female teen. Recently my younger sister has been talking more about boys and it was revealed she had a secret boyfriend in second grade and now both my parents are getting suspicious of me, being the oldest sibling in the house.

Ever since I stated middle school my mom has always been suspicious of me never having talked about anyone before or not asking about dating and such. Last time she talked to me about this she told me it was okay if I’m gay and if that’s stopping me from dating then don’t let it. Not the reason at all since I actually don’t know my sexuality yet but anyways the other day she asked me more about if I like guys or girls or when I want to date and I just kept giving ā€˜idk’ answers. It’s a weird form of pressure on me because most of the people I know in school all they talk about is who they are dating/crushes/wanting to date.

I’ve never had a crush before or felt any feelings beyond platonic and I’m also not the most attractive person either so I don’t know what my mom expects. I don’t even think about dating unless someone mentions it so I’m just wanting to know if I should do anything at all in particular to get her off my back. My friend said to lie and say I have a girlfriend but obviously not a good idea 😭
So should I just leave it alone or something? I really don’t know. Not even that worried tbh but it is a bit annoying at times and uncomfortable for me.
(Forgot to mention this but I’m a freshman in highschool)

Relationship Is this an Okay Relationship?

I (16m) just started dating one of my friends (14F). We've been together for a week, and It got me thinking if it was an Okay Relationship, I'm in 10th Grade, She's in 9th, but has a summer birthday.

The saying in my school is "If the grade or age doesn't touch, neither should you" which made me originally think of the question, because our grades do, but not our ages.

Really conflicted on this, Any help would be amazing!

Relationship are me and my boyfriend about to break up?

I (F17) have been dating my boyfriend (M18) for 6 months now, just celebrated it yesterday. at the start he was amazing, he fell for me first and reached out to me. anyways he was soo incredible and i get that at the start you’re gonna put in loads and loads of effort for someone to like you back, but now it feels like the effort is up and down.

I’ve told him that sometimes it feels like he loves me
more than he does other times, and he just says like yeah i’m not a robot. which i fully understand.

the sunday before last, id come home after spending the weekend at my dads. my dad used to abuse me, and he doesn’t physically anymore, but is still like mentally and emotionally abusive. my boyfriend realised how drained and different i was after coming back and said like no genuinely if it’s that bad you can stay at my house on the weekends you’re forced to go to your dads. (that whole thing is messy, i’m under 18
so still have to go see him, but probably shouldn’t because of the past but idk it’s confusing you know). anyways so like everyday of that week i was like oh don’t forget to ask your parents if i can stay! and he was like yeah i will don’t worry.

it gets to thursday. the day BEFORE i need somewhere to stay for 2 nights. and he says he doesn’t want me staying at his because it’s a burden and he’d have to make sure that i shower and eat at the right time, to which i replied with, ā€˜i’m not a child’ and he said ā€˜if you’re not a child, go to your dads.’ this really upset me because the problem with going to my dads is that it’s genuinely horrible there. he’s a horrible man and makes it clear he does not like me. so me and my boyfriend had a bit of an argument and he calls me a burden, and that id be in his hair, and then he mentions that his mental state is not doing well at the moment. If he had said this before i would have not been so upset, however he does not tell me anything about how he is
doing mentally.

i ended up staying at a few friends houses, but he still seemed pissed about the fact i wasn’t going to my dads. he explained to me that if i ever want to fix my relationship with my dad, i can’t just avoid him. i get that and i understand his point, however i do not want to fix things with my dad. i’ve been trying to figure out why he treats me the way he does since i was 4, it’s not just gonna change now i’m 17. my boyfriend has been in my life for 9 months, and it feels like he’s truing to fix issues that have been going on for 13 years. it’s just not gonna work.

i told him i understood where he was coming from, and i apologised (not sure why, but i just always feel the need to apologise).

his brothers girlfriend was booking tickets for us to all go to a pumpkin patch, and it was like mid-argument. she asked her boyfriend if me and my boyfriend were coming and he replied with ā€˜oh idk because of the op thing’ TF YOU MEAN BECAUSE OF THE ME THING?! i get that obviously my boyfriend told his brother what happened, but i don’t know why he said it like that. anyways that’s besides the point.

yesterday, me and him went out for food for our 6 months, and he said that he always has these ups and downs and really high highs and really low lows, and everytime he ends up breaking up with his girlfriend. and i said like well we’re gonna break the cycle, don’t worry, kind of thing, and he was like ā€˜yeah maybe.’

i don’t know what’s happening. i’m trying to distance myself a bit. i know my boyfriend loves his space and he loves his time alone, but it’s just so hard to be distant with someone i love so much. i’m trying my best, i really am. i’m also currently in the middle of a bipolar diagnoses, and i think the reason why he thought i was a burden and is maybe because of that? and obviously i’ve been telling him about it and stuff. idk. i love him and i don’t want to break up, i know we can work through this. i’ve just been doing a lot of thinking
lately.

Advice How can I know the teens like me ?

Okay so I am the assistant coach for this girls lacrosse high school team and their age range is around 15-18

I don’t understand them?? I can’t tell if they like me or not like some days they will talk to me and listen to me and we will tease each other and other days they will be sarcastic and mean or won’t even look at me

One day they’ll say goodbye with a hug and the next day they won’t event say bye

Is that normal? Is it me or they also have a very short attention span or maybe they only care about their friends?

I’m trying to understand how their mind works

Advice is it a red flag to have never had a girlfriend?

i’m (16f) and talking to this guy (17m) and he said he’s never had a girlfriend… i was talking to my friend about it and she said he probably doesn’t know how to treat a girl and i shouldn’t waste my time since he’s probably ā€œevilā€ 😭😭?? and she also said that since his parents are divorced (since he was 8) he most likely doesn’t even know how to be a gentleman

idk because he shook my hand when i spoke to him and gave me a kiss on the cheek (i asked for it)

we met because i went up to him and asked for his number and he definitely gave me very awkward ā€œnever had a gf beforeā€ vibes but i kinda liked it. he seems cute and sweet so far

anyways i’m posting this because i want insight. i just got out of a relationship a month ago and i really don’t wanna waste my time building a guy up if he doesn’t know what he’s doing

if you ever talked to a guy that never had a girlfriend, how’d it go? i’d you’re a guy that’s never had a girlfriend, do you know what you’re doing when it comes to girls?

EDIT: i’ve decided it’s not a red flag and i actually rlly like that i have to teach him things thanks redditā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø

How did you feel about media depicting puberty when you were a tween?

I’ll be talking girls and periods especially, sorry men idk what examples are shown much for boys though I’d be curious. whay I’m talking about is like even when I was the same age as the characters in media like Disney channel shows or Judy Blume books, where the tween characters experience puberty, it was so weird and more dramatic and awkward than real life ever was, gave me so much cringe. and yet was meant to serve as ā€œnormalizationā€œ. I remember diary of a future president ( trash Disney tv show) and the girl is insecure because another girl brags about using tampons or som compared to her using pads, only to realize the other girl is lying and I forgot either didn’t really use tampon uses flushable pads because she checked the pad box and it was empty, or the girl didn’t have it at all because it was empty but whichever. like that’s so fucking weird and honestly gross. The thought of a grown adult writing about snooping for a 12yo’s used period products feels concerning. And no you’re not misogynistic or think ā€œnormal body functions are grossā€ for not wanting to look at a persons used pad that’s just being normal so the thought is genuinely unfath and icky. plus in most media girls are like comparing when they started or what they use including like bras not just period related and getting insecure and it was just like did yall really have these discussions?? I sure wasn’t 11 and bragging to my whole school that I got it that’s not anybody’s business 😭 most id say in middle school would be like ā€œugh my cramps are hurting meā€ and get understanding nods. it was never a big deal. like genuine question was that Disney channel shit relatable to anybody? i always thought it’d be more accurate normalization to make it a single comment like that rather than a whole episode. like there’s a reason characters don’t mention that they use the toilet in books. just become it happens to me too doesn’t mean I’d want to spend my free time reading about another girl bleeding or picking out pads or like taking a piss. you read for the plot or to relax. I’m curious if yall found it relatable tho a specific media or equally cringey. or for boys what aspects were depicted for you in what and how’d you feel.

Im 20 so no longer a teen but have been working since 16. Every job ive had, i always tell my parents about my coworkers and recently i was wondering if other people do the same? Advice Never Been Allowed to Date but Like a Girl. How do I tell my parents?

I’m a Male and my predicament is just as the title says. I’d like to add that my parents aren’t very strict like ā€œhelicopter parentsā€. I’ve always been allowed to have friends and hang out with them; however, this has always been a rule they’ve never budged, or wanted to budge on. They believe that if I’m in a relationship before I’m out of college that I will be ā€œtoo distractedā€ and I won’t be able to complete my education and get established. Unfortunately for me, I want to become a Lawyer which means a long time in school, shadowing, etc. I’ve never been in a relationship because of this and would like if someone had some advice for how to tell them (my parents) and/or if I even should.

Relationship How to find a girl in a bigger city?

So i started high school a month back, its been good so far but the problem Is, i go to a mostly boys school (its about electricity and more like praxis) there are some girls, but They mostly arent pretty and just smoke and drink (maybe im picky). The good looking and normal girls go to two high schools mostly, but the problem Is their schools are Like on the very other side of the town, although i have PE in a gym near their schools, but by the time we are out They are Nowhere in sight, i saw a girl and She Is pretty, i want to get to know her but she doesn’t even go to the same school, plus we leave in a whole different town. In her class there Is a girl who went to school with me before, i mean i could ask here but she would just start clowning, anyway the question is, how to find a girl when getting to a bigger town, i need some advice and if you want to ask more questions dm me please!

(Priority is school tho)

Relationship Gf has invited me to her house home alone what should I expect ?

This may be a bit tmi but idk. If it is let me know and i'll delete the post. I just wanna ask reddit because all my friends are single and there will be at least one person on reddit in a happy relationship I can get an answer from.

My girlfriend (F17) said to me (M17) that she is home alone thursday and has invited me to her house. She said her parents would be gone for a couple hours probably more but didn't explain what the plan was when i go to hers.

Am I right to assume she's ready to take things to the next level? Also what is the next level? Because on one hand omg can't believe it but on the other idk what the usual pace is for a relationship and idk if its a little quick. I would like to take things to the next level if she wants to but I also just want to watch a movie with her or cuddle and talk if its because being with her is perfect already and I don't wanna assume anything in case I've read it wrong. At this point in time we've made out, done a little under the clothes touching, and a little bit of dry humping and we've been together for just over a month now.

Advice I have a crush, but is it weird?

Soo Ive liked this girl for quite a bit but the thing is there’s a decent age gap not an illegal one tho you know, I just don’t know if it’s ok to do something like that. Not mention my ex(who cheated on me and outright lied about it) I think she’s telling people we’re still dating.
I just don’t know what to do at this point
I really need advice

Advice idk if i’m being watched or WHAT! opinions?

ok so i need to get this off my chest because i feel like i'm going crazy and i need to know if anyone else has dealt with this.

me (17f) and my ex broke up about 8 months ago. it was messy but genuinely i was at peace, new job, new friends, more $$. one of my coworkers told me that he got a new girl like 2 months after we broken up. at first i was like damn that's fast but whatever.

well fast forward now, i find out that my ex’s gf has been watching me on social media for MONTHS and I genuinely didn’t know who she was. then her friends started following me one by one in order — like they got a checklist or something and one girl even decided to take it to instagram aswell. i didn't say anything because i thought maybe i was overthinking.

i genuinely don’t know what i am doing wrong but i do not talk to my ex nor this girl at all. how else would she even know who i am? we've never spoken. and i hate thinking he's painting some bad image of me to a girl i've never said a word to.

and now the newest thing that made me finally write this post. yesterday i got on facebook and one of her friends that took it to instagram & sends me a request on facebook. i genuinely don’t know whats going on but i am trying to just ignore it.

Ok so basically me and this guy have been talking for a bit now, but he randomly called me another girls name, and then said it was a family members name.
