Are there any indoor Christmas markets in the Philly area? Doesn’t have to be in the city.

For some context, I’m from RI and recently moved here. A big Christmas market in the area is the SOWA Christmas market in Boston. It’s in this huge building, almost like a warehouse. Is there anything like this in Philly??? Doesn’t have to be in Philly, can be in surrounding suburbs. Thanks everyone!

Primary Care Recommendation/

Anyone know of a really good PCP in the city, even if they are private pay, which I know is expensive. I'm juggling several chronic conditions simultaneously and have four specialists. I cannot find anyone who offers continuity of care or even wants to explain the labs they order before my next quarterly appointment unless I make another appointment which is what I currently am doing. I'm just exhausted from trying to navigate the healthcare system, and get these docs to communicate with each other. Doesn't have to be by phone call or anything, I just want a doc who will read the specialists notes and check the labs they order and explain the results to me. I tried posting this on the r/philly sub but got downvoted and called 'entitled' for expecting too much of the poor docs who are laden with patients and short on time. This is my health, and I'm exhausted from trying to navigate the healthcare system.

It’s just how it sounds. I moved here last year from Houston, and I finally feel sorta settled in. I am now looking for places to go and things to do. My question is are there any sports bars that are for Houston sports fans? I’d love a place to go and catch a Texans or Rockets game. Thanks yall!

Philadelphia Animation Society

Hello! I recently saw the news that the animation society has disbanded meetings mostly due to a lack of people going. I’m looking to research the club as it’s one of the oldest and helped to spread anime in the United States. I’m wondering if there’s anyone here who could share some stories of the society or point me in the right direction!

SPFL>PHL 11/12-15

Hey Philadelphia!
My senior (18) and I are visiting November 12–15 for a college tour and staying in the Francisville area. We’re coming from St. Pete, Florida, and won’t have a car, so we’ll be relying on SEPTA and Uber/Lyft.
We love artsy, eclectic, independent spots and supporting local businesses.
I’m here for the food and craft beer, and we’re both into thrift/vintage shopping, art, quirky shops, and exploring interesting neighborhoods.
Our music tastes are all over the place, but **punk, hardcore, and doom are a bonus!** Record shops, underground venues, and dive bars are very welcome.
Instagram has given me a million places to save, but how much is curated for the views?
I’d love recommendations for:
•Local restaurants, cheap eats, and must-try food
•Craft breweries and great beer bars
•Thrift/vintage shops and independent stores
•Music venues, record shops, and offbeat local gems
•Neighborhoods to explore, plus transit tips and places to be cautious around, especially at night.

**What would you recommend to a friend visiting Philadelphia? What’s genuinely great versus just influencer hype?**

Thank you!

Advice on how to deal with a pest control company threatening me

Title. I paid for a service and they failed to do any follow ups as promised on the contract. I got stood up for 2 appointments. They promised 3 and after the no shows I wanted a refund and they ignored me. For any home owners out there, you know this service is not cheap. I posted a review on google based off of my experience and the owner replied me to doxing my address and threatening me of reporting me to animal cruelty???
Uh I’m so confused and baffled at this behavior from a company. Then I got a text from an anonymous number with the screen shot of this review…. Which is how I even found out about this crazy response in the first place. Idk whether to take this serious or what. They’re exposing my private info and claiming false accusations publicly? The tech literally pet my dog and commented on how nice she was. I’m a disabled vet and she is literally my emotional support animal.

I’m appalled on how they’re choosing to handle this situation when I simply expressed the facts. I should have listened to the all of bad yelp reviews. I have encountered bad service but never like this and I’m new to Philly, is this how Philly rolls??

Questions about CCP ASL interpreting

Hello, I recently applied to Community College of Philadelphia as a transfer student and I’m looking to get an AA in English/ASL interpreting and then take the Education Interpreting Performance Assessment (EIPA) or National Interpreter Certification (NIC). I took up to ASL 3 in high school, but unfortunately I currently go to community college in Denver and my only option was ASL I. However, I did have a Deaf teacher and was involved with the Deaf community through events, so I have decent conversational fluency. Has anyone here done this and knows about it, or has any recommendations? Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask.

How to go out this Friday (Halloween)

Me and some friends are planning to go out in Philly this weekend on Friday. Just wondering from those who live there where to go/what lines are like/and if there’s going to be cover charges everywhere.

I’m not crazy about doing any of those bar crawl kind of things where you buy a wrist band for multiple bars, but i’d look into it if the night would otherwise suck.

Help Improve Reading Terminal Market Website — Quick Survey for Drexel Student Project

Hi everyone! I’m a student at Drexel University working on a class project focused on improving Reading Terminal Market’s website. Reading Terminal Market is a historic public market featuring a mix of local farmers, specialty food vendors, restaurants, merchants, and SNAP resources.

As part of our research, we’re collecting feedback from people who use their website or are willing to view it for this survey - especially those who visit it to find vendors, plan visits, or learn about events.

If that sounds like you, it would mean a lot if you could take 5-7 minutes to fill out this anonymous survey. Your input will help us recommend improvements to make the website easier to use for everyone.

👉 Take the survey here

This is a student-led project for a course in user experience research, and your answers will only be used for academic purposes. Thank you so much for your time and support!

Affordable physical activities to learn as an adult in Philly?

I’m a young F looking to learn a new physical activity as a hobby, something like dance, karate, martial arts, or any other fun skill.

I’m a beginner and would love something affordable, beginner-friendly, and welcoming to adults.

Any recommendations for classes or places in Philadelphia? I’d especially appreciate options where I can learn a skill, stay active, and maybe meet people along the way. Thanks!

urgent: need free legal help before my november 4 landlord-tenant hearing

hi everyone, i’m looking for a free lawyer or legal aid organization to help me with a landlord-tenant lawsuit in philadelphia. my former landlord is claiming approximately $6,500 in unpaid rent, late fees, attorney fees, and utilities, but i believe the rent portion conflicts with a written agreement i made with the property manager.
on september 30, the property manager confirmed in writing that the landlord would waive my outstanding rent if i paid the outstanding utilities and moved out by october 6. i confirmed the agreement that same day and specifically asked if the outstanding utilities were all i needed to pay. he said yes.
the landlord filed the lawsuit on october 1, just one day after that agreement was made. on october 6, i paid the requested $232.02, returned my keys, and received written confirmation from the property manager acknowledging both. despite this, the lawsuit still includes the rent the landlord had agreed to waive.
i have screenshots of the agreement and conversations, proof of payment, and the court complaint. i’ve tried contacting the philly tenant hotline but haven’t been able to get through to someone who can help.
my hearing is november 4, and i’m trying to find legal assistance before november 3. i cannot afford a private attorney, so i’m specifically looking for free legal aid, a pro bono tenant lawyer, or an organization that can review my agreement and potentially represent me in court.
if anyone knows of a legitimate resource or attorney who handles philadelphia landlord-tenant cases, i’d really appreciate the help. thank you!

Are the “luxury” apartment complexes in Philly really that bad?

I'm looking for a 1BR apartment in Northern Liberties or Fishtown with a budget of up to $2,000/month.

I've noticed quite a few professionally managed apartment complexes advertising themselves as "luxury apartments," with amenities like pools, gyms, rooftop terraces, etc. However, almost every time I check the reviews, I come across complaints about roaches, rats, mold, package theft, security issues, or terrible management.

Are these problems really that common, or is it just that unhappy tenants are more likely to leave reviews? Are there any apartment complexes in the area you'd actually recommend?

What to do Saturday before the marathon??

Hello!!

My brother and I are traveling to Philly for the Marathon on November 22nd! We’ll get there Friday afternoon. We will have Friday evening and all day Saturday free. What should we do??

The goal is to stay off our feet as much as possible to stay fresh for the race. Are there any tours, activities, or places you’d recommend that don’t involve too much walking or moving around?

Because it’s for the marathon, we’ll be saving the drinking for after the race!

Any advice is much appreciated! Thanks!

Edible ban

Hi, apparently the ban is already in place I thought I had until December. But vapeO2 had to cancel my order. I need the gummies for my migraines, and I don’t know how to go about getting them by other means. I know no one will want to give me a direct answer in case I’m a cop but can I get pointed in the right direction here 😭

Moving to Philly from Maryland for postdoc

I have never been to Philly before and I am starting a postdoc at Fox Chase Cancer Center in January 2027. I wanted to live in the city and I want to know what are my options for neighborhoods to look at that will be well connected to work but allow me to live the city life. I was imagining a 1 bed or studio situation but I also don't want to exceed my housing budget more than $1500 so I am also okay with a roommate in a 2bed/2bath if I get to live in Center City. I am also open to finding neighborhoods between Center City and Fox Chase that also have a lot of the city perks (walkable grocery store, few cafes, bars, restaurants and gym) even if that's away from Center City as long as I can easily commute to work and go into the city over the weekends. Also, I don't own a car and not planning on buying one immediately after moving. I only really want to buy it if it's necessary. Please help a girl out with suggestions <3

Quiet Hotel Center City?

Hello! 👋

Traveling to Philly in March for event at Convention Center that I'd like to be able to walk to. I have some health issues so have to be really careful about my sleep. I'm researching center city hotels and they all seem to have multiple reviews about street noise. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a hotel near the CC that's perhaps on a side street? If not, I'm thinking might be better off in an Airbnb? Thank you!
