Can I doxx users if mods ask me to?

I got permanently banned in a large sub. the comments in question claimed the picture the OP posted are propaganda pictures with an entire page of text detailing why.
The mods asked me to prove my point using neutral sources or keep the perma-ban. There are 4 problems with their request:
1st, I had said 'it is an opinion'
2nd, I had already proved it IMO.
3rd, The OP was reddit-banned because of it already and I can't browse their post history anymore to prove anything.
4th, They had asked me to IDENTIFY the photographer.
My ban was confirmed and the mods muted me after and included threat of full reddit bans if I make alt-accounts.
What is the right course of action here? I believe name and shame is an actual bannable offense in reddit so that's out.

No, the sitewide rules overrule anything a moderator can send you.

If you feel you are being pressured to break rules by a moderator, please report it.

Doxxing is against sitewide rules, so you could get banned from reddit altogether.

Yeah. I'm sure it was a trap now.

Oof, yeah be careful of that! I would definitely do a code of conduct report.

Your definition of doxxing is flawed.

They wanted external sources pointing to the guy. I believe that's things like facebook, instagram, and the likes. am I wrong here? were they trying to trap me and ban my entire account if i followed through?

Yes possibly

If you can, use a 3rd party app, find the posts, and link them the posts of this Banned user that you are trying to prove. If you have any personal info of this user. Do not share it with anyone. That is doxxing and not cool at all

I did find another post of them using google search. It contains identity and phone number of another person.
They are collecting money for their cause(Palestine vs Hamas; which was the entire debate that got me banned)

Not what it sounds like to me. It sounds like you were aiding in ban evasion, and they were asking you to disprove it.

Aiding in ban evasion as in helping the OP? I wanted them gone off of the entire Internet.

It does not sound like that

Is this a real question?

No, you cannot doxx anyone as it is against the reddit sitewide rules!

The mods are from one of the default subs. made me doubt everything I know.

I'm not sure what the "default subs" are. I'm a moderator and we have a moderator code of conduct we have to adhere to.

They are the subs that all new users are recommended to join when they create an account.
Your account is 3 years older than mine. maybe it wasn't a thing back then.

Moderators cannot give you permission to violate sitewide rules.

My ban was confirmed and the mods muted me after and included threat of full reddit bans if I make alt-accounts.

so the mods have already banned you and muted you so that you can't give the proof that they asked for even if you figure out that it's not doxxing...

move on and find a new subreddit to participate in.

I have never had such issues on Reddit in all my time here. You can try and use a third party app and see the sitewide banned users history which should show their comments even though they're banned unless I'm mistaken.

You can certainly tell the mods in modmail a users Reddit name and link the posts. Don't give them personal details, ie Full name if you know the user.

However, easier to just move on and forget about this saga and that subreddit.

They asked for full name.

Do you know the user personally? You can give them their Reddit name, and a link. I wouldn't give anyone on this site, personal details of a Reddit user. The whole point is anonymity

They are the OP of the post that got me perma-banned. I believe the mods didn't need me to give them their reddit name.

It is not doxxing to identify the video of the JFK assassination as Abraham Zapruder.

Many photographers have their name displayed in museums alongside their art.

A lot of people take photographs and publicly post them on Instagram.

If the photograph was published openly, then its unlikely the creator is anonymous.

They asked me to identify the photographer(OP). I've seen people get banned over less.
EDIT: If they wanted their name out there they would put it there. The entire point of propaganda work is throwaway accounts.
