Beli for books?

• Upvotes

I'm thinking of a goodreads alternative to compare books you’ve read by asking “which did you enjoy more?” to gradually build a personal ranking. As you compare books, you’d build your own top 10, which would appear on your profile with book covers. The idea is for more of a social profile to give people a better sense of your taste and connect with friends.

I’d also want to improve the overall experience with actual good recommendations, better reading stats, and things like a spotify wrapped style year in review.

It's just an idea for an app my friends and I had. Would you use something like this?

Now you can swap homes for travel

Do you know this app can actually help you to swap your home with another home when you're travelling somewhere else? So how does this app works? This app lets you swap the homes with each other. There is a community which is making this possible at a annual price

We're building an AI friend that calls you and turns venting into a to-do list. Thoughts?

Basically, it's an AI that calls you. You don't open the app. It just rings, and you can talk about whatever is on your mind, like your day, exams, work, or nothing in particular. It listens and replies in a friendly way.

It also picks up things you mention and turns them into tasks or a rough schedule, so you don't have to type anything. And there's a Indian version, because a lot of us switch between many Indian languages and English mid-sentence anyway.

Honest questions, if you have a minute:

* Would a call like this feel nice?

* Would you trust it with your to-do list?

* What would make you quit after a week?

Would you like an immersive gym companion?

You just point the camera to yourself and work out.

It automatically understands what exercise you are doing, weights you are using, forms and reps.

You can talk to it with voice.

It will record your workout data.

The user can focus on working out and the app does analysis and recording quietly.

What app do you wish existed? Tell me your app ideas, and I’ll try to build them for you!

Hey everyone! 👋

As a developer, I’m always looking to build useful, real-world applications that solve actual problems. Sometimes, the best software comes from ideas that aren't readily available on the app stores yet.

I want to act like a professional technology partner for you. If you have an app idea, a tool, or a specific utility that you’ve always wished existed—whether it’s for productivity, automation, lifestyle, or just something fun—please let me know in the comments!

Tell me:

  1. What is the core problem your app solves?
  2. How would you want it to work?

I will review your ideas and try my best to code and bring the best ones to life. Drop your thoughts below! 🚀

Built a way for a friend group to pool trip photos into one film. Looking for blunt feedback on the flow

Some background: I was asked to make the slideshow for a confirmation, and gathering photos from everyone and cutting them to music took me ages. I have to do it again next year, so I built Our Film Roll instead of doing it by hand twice.

The flow right now: 1. One person creates a private Film Roll for the trip, birthday or party and shares a link 2. Everyone adds their photos and videos from their own phone 3. You name the people and pick the moments 4. You get a film cut to a song: your own, or one it makes for you with AI (pick a mood, instrumental or with vocals) 5. Play it on a TV

Three things I'd like your take on: - Is "upload everything first, decide what to make later" clear, or does it feel like extra work? - Would your friends actually open a link and upload, or does it die in the group chat? - Where did you get stuck or bored?

Web now, iPhone app in beta. Free while I'm testing; it will cost a little later to cover running costs. ourfilmroll.com

Social Impact App Idea: Direct Support for People Experiencing Homelessness

Hello,

I would like to propose an app idea with the potential to make a real difference in the lives of people experiencing homelessness. I believe there is an opportunity to develop a simple, modern platform that makes it easier for people to help one another directly, and that could be an interesting project for your team to develop.

The idea is a platform that enables people to provide direct support to those experiencing homelessness.

Today, support often consists of services such as food distribution and shelters. These are important, but people experiencing homelessness may need much more than food: clothing, shoes, hygiene products, a phone, public transportation, temporary accommodation, or financial assistance to help them move toward securing a home of their own.

Such an app could offer:

Direct donations: The ability to contribute money via Swish, where permitted by applicable payment regulations.

Personalized needs: Recipients can describe what they need and the goals they want to achieve.

Safe verification: Private verification through social workers, charitable organizations, or trained volunteers, with alternative options for people who lack BankID or official identification.

Privacy and dignity: No one should have to expose sensitive documents or publicly share traumatic life stories to receive help.

Practical and material support: Donors could also offer clothing, hygiene products, transportation, and other essential items.

Long-term independence: Opportunities to receive support with finding housing, studying, working, and rebuilding financial stability.

Fraud prevention: Verified profiles, reporting features, and clear information about what has actually been verified.

The central idea is to shift the focus from immediate survival alone toward self-determination, dignity, and the opportunity to escape homelessness.

I believe an initial, relatively simple version could be piloted locally in Stockholm in partnership with a charitable organization, then further developed based on real-world needs.

I would therefore like to put forward this idea as a potential development project for your team. Would you be interested in exploring the concept, assessing its feasibility, and potentially developing a prototype or minimum viable product (MVP)?

I believe such a service could create tangible social value while offering a scalable model that could be adopted by other cities.

Thank you for taking the time to consider this proposal.

Kind regards,

I’ll design free App Store screenshots for the first 2 apps in the comments

I’m making screenshot concepts for two apps today. The image shows the kind of work I can make, with a different style for each app.

If you’d like one, comment with your App Store link and a short description of your app. If it isn’t live yet, share a few raw screenshots instead. I’ll take the first two with enough details to work from.

Would talking to your task list actually help, or just become another app to manage?

I work from home and switch between a few projects throughout the day. I take notes, but I still miss follow-ups. Sometimes I remember to write something down, then the deadline changes or I’m waiting for a reply, and my notes stop matching what’s actually going on.

I’m a developer, and I’ve been thinking about a small Mac app for this. Press a shortcut, say something like “Move the Acme proposal to Monday,” and it finds the existing task and shows the change before saving it. Or “I sent the proposal. Remind me Thursday to follow up with Alex.” At the end of the day, I could see what’s still open and what I’m waiting on. Typing would work too.

The part I’m unsure about is whether this deserves its own app. Voice task entry already exists, and I don’t want to build another list that people have to keep updated alongside their actual task manager.

If you’ve tried handling tasks this way, what got annoying or made you stop? And if you already have a setup that handles changes and follow-ups well, I’d honestly like to know what it is. I’m still deciding whether to build this.

I'm building an AI roast app and need ideas for an interesting streak system.

Hey guys, I'm building an app called Roastify where users can generate AI roasts, get comebacks, and participate in roast battles.

I'm thinking about adding a streak system, but I'm not sure how to make it work or keep it interesting.

Should a streak count when users do any activity, or should it be tied to something specific? And what rewards would make people actually care about maintaining their streak?

I'd love to hear your ideas or how you'd approach this if you were building the app yourself.

I am good at creating web app prototypes but need ideas

A bit about me. I have a background in coding, math, and finance. I am good at building quick prototypes and proof of concepts using mock data. But I struggle with building something that a business really needs and getting to them.

If you have a business or a problem that you or your company deals with, what would it be? Please include as much info as possible about the workflow or the headache.

I'm a media design student building a social app with no algorithm. Am I naive, or is this something people actually want?

Hey everyone,

I've been working on a side project for a while now, and I'm finally at the point where I need outside opinions before I go further.

A bit of background: I'm a media designer in training, and I've spent way too much time on social media. At some point I noticed something that bothered me. I'm "connected" to hundreds of people, but I rarely meet anyone new in a real way. Every feed is optimized to keep me scrolling, not to help me find people I'd actually click with. The people who live a few streets away and share my weird hobbies? I'd never find them.

So I started building StrayCity, a proximity-based social app. The idea is simple: real connections, powered by a bit of magic instead of algorithms.

A few things I'm building:

Stray Echoes: you can leave messages pinned to real GPS locations. Someone who walks past later can find them. Think of it as a mix of graffiti, a message in a bottle and a little city secret.

Your own little room: every user gets an isometric pixel-art room to decorate. It's your space instead of a profile grid, and it says more about you than a bio ever could.

No feed ranking: what you see depends on where you are and who's around, not on what keeps you engaged the longest.

I'm also doing this without investors. I'd rather crowdfund it, because I don't want to build something that later has to squeeze its users for growth. The campaign is planned for early next year, but honestly, right now I care more about whether the idea holds up at all.

That's where I'd love your honest thoughts:

Would you actually use location-based messages, or does it feel creepy? I'm a bit torn on this. I love the idea, but I know privacy is a big deal, and I want to get it right.

What made you leave or stop enjoying social apps? I'm trying to understand what people really miss.

Does "no algorithm" matter to you, or is it just a nice slogan? Would you trade convenience for a less curated experience?

For those who crowdfunded before: what do you wish you had known months before launch?

I'm aware this is ambitious for a student project, and I'm still figuring out a lot. But I'd rather hear the hard truths now than after launch.

Thanks for reading. Roast it, question it, tell me what you'd change. 🖤

A messenger app that allows you to label your msgs with tone-of-voice (sarcastic, cocky, respectfu...etc)

I thought it would be cool to have one since message tone can sometimes be misinterpreted.

Will this be of interest to anyone?

Would you use an app that turns a photo of your fridge into dinner — and teaches you how to cook it?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone! 👋

I'm an independent creator from Ukraine, working on an app concept called From Fridge to Feast.

The idea came from a simple everyday problem:

You open your fridge, see a bunch of ingredients, but have no idea what to cook.

I want to build an app that makes the entire process easier and more enjoyable.

Here's the concept:

📸 1. Scan your fridge

Take a photo of your ingredients or enter them manually. AI would identify the products and let you correct any mistakes.

🍝 2. Discover personalized meals

Find recipes based on what you already have, with filters for cooking time, kitchen equipment, cuisine, and estimated nutritional values.

🤖 3. Cook with an interactive AI chef

Follow visual step-by-step instructions, complete cooking challenges, and make the process feel more like a game.

🛵 4. Cook it or order it

A future feature would help you find nearby restaurants when you like a dish but don't feel like cooking.

I know AI recipe generators already exist. I'm trying to find out whether combining these features into one simple experience would make the app genuinely useful.

The three images are early design concepts, not screenshots of a working app.

I'm currently planning the first prototype and would really appreciate honest feedback.

Three questions:

Would you actually use something like this?

Would photographing your fridge be convenient, or would it become annoying?

Which feature would make you come back regularly?

I'd especially love to hear what you dislike about existing cooking apps.

Thanks for your feedback! ❤️

Would you use an app to document your plants’ growth over time?

I’m a plant lover who grows plants at home, and I’ve always found it fascinating to see how much they change over time. It got me wondering how other plant enthusiasts document their plants’ growth.

A few questions for fellow plant lovers:
- Do you regularly take photos to track new leaves, growth, or recovery after repotting?
- Is it hard to remember to take photos consistently or keep the same camera angle?
- Would creating a timelapse of your plants’ growth be something you’d genuinely enjoy, or is it more of a nice-to-have?

I’d love to hear how you track your plants’ progress, if you do at all. Curious to hear your honest thoughts!

Bedtime story apps: should narration be the default, or should the parent read?

Building a bedtime story concept and I’m torn on this. Narration means a tired parent can just listen together with their kid. But someone told me an app reading to their kid instead of them felt “creepy,” and I get it.

Right now the narration can be muted and the text is on screen so a parent can read it aloud. Is that the right default, or should it be the other way round?

An all-in-one dog care and training app. Is there a real gap in the market?

I'm exploring an app idea and would appreciate some honest feedback before investing time into building it.

The concept is an app for dog owners that combines two things:

  • Everyday care: Vaccination reminders, vet appointments, medication schedules, grooming, and a centralized medical record that can be shared with vets or pet sitters.
  • Basic training: Training routines, progress tracking, and milestones.

The idea is to give dog owners one place to manage both their dog's ongoing care and training, instead of having to rely on several apps, calendars, and notes.

I know pet-care apps already exist, so I'm trying to understand whether combining these features solves a meaningful problem or just creates another bloated all-in-one app.

A few things I'd love feedback on:

  • Does combining care management and training make sense, or would you keep them separate?
  • Which part would be the strongest standalone product?
  • What would make this meaningfully better than existing pet-care apps and a regular calendar?
  • Would a free app with optional premium features make sense for this audience? What would justify a subscription?
  • Is there an obvious reason this idea wouldn't work, or a competitor I should study closely?

I'm not looking for encouragement just for the sake of it. If the concept is too broad, lacks differentiation, or doesn't solve a strong enough problem, I'd rather know now.

Thanks for any constructive criticism!

PS: AI was used to format this post.

Would you use a feed where every post is one big idea from a real book? Would really appreciate support and feedback🐇

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I keep starting books and never finishing them. But I'll happily scroll for an hour.
I’m a 15 year old, building RABBIT, a feed where every post is one big idea from a real book, in 8–10 lines. If something hooks you, tap Read more to go deeper, or follow the book itself. Books post Stories: insights, excerpts, chapter-by-chapter ideas.
There's also a reader community, book clubs, and a personal constellation where every book you read becomes a star.
The video is a vision concept of where it's headed.

If you like the idea, follow along on Instagram @rabbitclub.app. DMs are open there for feedback, idea and support.
Thank you for even reading this far🐇
