Question My €4,600 gaming PC was stolen in Antwerp through a fake bank transfer - has anyone experienced something similar?

Komputer zawierał kartę graficzną ASUS ROG RTX 4090 i inne komponenty wysokiej klasy.

Question Diggit Anversa or Upkot

I am attending school on an exchange next semester and I have narrowed down housing to these two options. Anversa is closer, but the Diggit online reviews are not so good. Any feedback on Diggit and Upkot housing in Antwerp?

Question Considering moving to Antwerp as a dutchie

Hi reader,

The past year I've been attempting to apply to rooms and apartments for me (23) and my partner (27) in the Netherlands. Out of about 4000-8000 reactions this year, i have gotten 4 viewings. None of them (that also had registration possible) ended up wanting me, even the tiniest, shittiest rooms.

The past year has been a buildup of frustration for both me and my girlfriend. It's been really tough to get anything going and we both just want an apartment. All the apartments are just getting more and more expensive and more and more impossible to get into. (I'm talking 1900-3000 per month for 40m2)

Lo and behold, a couple of my Belgian friends informed me that they don't have such a thing as 'reacting to thousands of apartments and rooms to get nothing'. I have gotten information from them that it's actually relatively easy to move to Belgium. The only problem being that we'd have to go to several viewings but that's about it. Compared to the Netherlands, it's cheaper too; the total cost of living (incl. Healthcare) is way lower than here in the Netherlands.

I also found out that the travel time to my school would be exactly the same as where I live currently. I would also continue getting study funds, which will help partially pay for the apartment. My partner is currently looking for jobs in the international history sector. (Which would be way more doable in Brussels than here we think)

My question was, is it worth it to live in Antwerp? Do you have people yelling on the streets at you like we have here? Would a Dutch person like me and a Dutch/french person like my partner get along in such a city? Is there anything municipality wise I should know? (Ours have been treating us like garbage) And are there any problems I should look out for? Thank you :}

Question Shops that sell Droogkast

Long story short, I bought a samsung heatpump dryer last month in 2dehands for 250 euro. My bad I installed it late and I learnt that it doesn't work. Now, with winter and with kids at home, im stuck between repairing this one, or going for a new one or sulk again in 2dehands and marktplaats.

People that bought an old or second hand dryer, what are your experiences and problems you faced. With your suggestions I may prepare myself to go for a new one. Cannot endure another round of failure.

I'm inbetween jobs at the moment, nevertheless life with kids have to move. So looking for a cheap shop and effective solution for a dryer.

Question What are some of the best beer cafes/pubs in Antwerp?

Hi all, looking for recommendations for good bars in Antwerp with a wide selection of beers on tap at decent prices. Looking for friendly, low-key places where it's easy to socialize.

Outside of bars, what local clubs or group activities would you recommend for making new connections? (e.g., walking clubs, social meetups, etc.) Thanks!

Where can I find or buy Pan de Muerto in Antwerpen?

Trying to share a small taste of Day of the Dead with my Belgian friends.

Question Where to meet people from different walks of life?

I study Orthopedagogische Begeleiding and for an assignment on Diversity I'm supposed to interview someone who is at least somewhat different from me. The point of the interview is to learn something new.

The problem is... I already know lots of people from different walks of life! Latin, muslim, American, black, brown, Persian, North African, rich, poor, addicted, mentally ill, queer, homosexual, bisexual, very young, very old,... I have a broad scale of people in my life from which I have learned alot so far, yet I'd like to find someone who can offer a new perspective on life.

My preference would go to someone from Subsaharan Africa, Oceania, East Asia, who follows a not so popular religion (so no christians, muslims, jews or any variation), or has a job that might not be as socially accepted as others.

If you're willing to break bread with me, feel free to leave a comment or send a DM!

Hi guys,

Yesterday, my e-bike (Cube Kathmandu) was stolen while I was at the gym for just an hour. It was locked, and the bike parking area is even monitored by CCTV.

Just a heads-up to everyone: keep an eye on your bikes! I’ve been reading more and more reports of bikes being stolen in that area, sometimes within just a few minutes.

Stay safe and be careful!

Antwerpen Anyone up for a game or a walk?

Hey everyone!

I’m 30M, living in Antwerp, working in the medical field. I speak English and I’m slowly trying to get better at Dutch :)

I enjoy long evening walks, playing basketball and badminton, and thought it’d be nice to find some people who enjoy the same things.
Would be great to make a few new friends, have good conversations, and maybe make these activities a regular thing.

Let’s start with intro

Question the fun scene???

guys I’ve spent the last 9 years in Rotterdam and my family lives in Antwerp but I might have to move there soon too. However, I have no community there so big question:

Is there a fun scene in Antwerp where people of color in their twenties can find a community? Think artsy, leftist, working class, loves fashion etc? I feel like these crowds and this scene is almost only in Brussels rip. And all the things I see seem to be institutionalized? Like vzw or something.

Please point me in the right direction !!

En ja, ik spreek gewoon Nederlands

Question Honest question for gym-goers in Antwerp: Is it ever okay to approach women at the gym?

Hey everyone,

I wanted to ask this here to get some honest perspectives and advice.

A bit of background: I’m a 31-year-old single guy living in Antwerp. I’m into fitness, work out regularly at my local gym, and outside of that, I’m a bit of an introverted nerd who loves tech, arts & video games. In general, I'm quite shy when it comes to initiating conversations, though I really enjoy talking once a conversation starts.

Naturally, there are attractive women at my gym, and while part of me would love to get to know someone with shared interests, the last thing I ever want to do is make someone uncomfortable, seem intrusive, or interrupt a good workout session. Gyms are places where people usually have headphones in and are focused on their own routine.

So I wanted to ask genuinely

  1. Ladies, is it ever okay to start a conversation with you at the gym, or is it strictly a no-go?
  2. If it can be okay, when and where is the least annoying moment? (Like near the exit, water cooler, or not at all?)
  3. What makes an approach feel polite instead of creepy?

Appreciate any thoughts and advice from locals and non-locals!
