Hey everyone, I’m trying to identify a wild animal vocalization I’ve been hearing and hoping someone familiar with wildlife sounds might recognize it.
The Sound: It sounds very similar to a dog whining, yipping, and barking, but it’s definitely a wild animal.
Timing: It only happens at night, usually popping up every couple of weeks.
Location/Habitat: High up in the mountains, heard across a few different areas/trails rather than just one spot.

I live in the very top of Washington state US .
I know what elk, deer, owls, possums, raccoons, eagles, crow, coyotes, dogs , and cats sound like.
Never have I heard this in my 24y living here!!
Did it about 30 seconds apart. Lasted about 20 minutes then nothing.
