After 19 years, iOS to Android
I just switched over to an Oppo Find X9 Ultra after being on iOS since the first iPhone! iOS' UX is better in some areas and makes every day use convenient.
What are some tweaks/apps you'd recommend which make using your phone more enjoyable and smooth?
Is there a repository somewhere I can start looking into? Where are the best resources?
I'm big on shortcuts, automation, customisation, and general productivity tweaks. Thanks so much!

If you like automation, install Tasker. If you like customization, browse XDA Developers. If you like discovering hidden gems, check out F-Droid. Those three alone will show you why a lot of us stick with Android despite iOS having a more polished UI in some areas.

shortcuts, automation
r/tasker is the place. The app has a steep learning curve but also tons of ways to make it work exactly the way you need it to. And if it comes to it, use an LLM to figure your way around the app
customisation
The customization scene is a bit dead these days because of one crucial thing - third party launchers (home screen replacement apps) don't play nicely with gesture navigation. There are animation glitches or delays, depending on what phone you use. Google Pixels and Samsung Galaxy phones are, in my experience, the best in that regard. OnePlus (and by extension OPPO - sister companies) are out of the question, the animation delay is not worth the trade off of having a fancy home screen.
However, the stock launcher on your OPPO will let you use KLWP and KWGT with not that many downsides, so it's definitely worth looking into anyway.

Thank you! This is what I was talking about, thanks so much.
Do you know of an app which will allow me to add any app shortcut to the lockscreen?

That's very limited. It used to be possible like over 10 years ago but now the lockscreen is, well, locked down. You can disable the system lockscreen and use a
presentpretend lockscreen app, meaning your phone is never really protected, or you can accept what little customization is available to you. Go to settings > Home screen, Locks screen & Style (if that's what it's called on Color OS 17) and tap on the setup preview in that screen. That's where you can edit the two lockscreen shortcuts and add widgets (depending on the theme you chose, there are a lot of them).→ More replies (1)

How can you say iOS is better than Android?😂 There are so many drawbacks in iOS like no universal back gesture support, uploads are blocked in the background, notifications are a mess to see

Not gonna turn this into a iOS Vs. Android debate. I think they're both great. I specifically wrote 'in some areas' from a UX perspective.

It depends on what you want out of your device. If you want something simple that just works iPhone is your choice, if you want to tinker Android is your phone.

Restrict background usage for apps you don't use at all
Turn off wifi and bluetooth scanning
Turn off google usage and diagnostics, and personalized ads
A dns is a really good thing to use, I use p2.freedns.controld.com . This one turns off background telemetry data and ads, also helps in better battery life

Google will be all up in your business. I suggest proton for emails, photos and video backup and vpn plus ad blocking.
Morphe for YouTube and YouTube music is a must.

Use Morphe for ad-free YouTube, YT Music and Reddit
Use Private DNS feature for system-wide ad blocking (my recommendation Control D Hagezi DNS Pro resolver).
Use Brave as your default web browser to hide ad placeholders left over by blocking ads with Private DNS.
