Do I have a male and female or a fat and thin?

Had both of these Alpine newts just over a year now and I haven't seen any breeding, fighting or babies so I'm assuming one is just large and the other rather skinny? They don't change in shape or size, don't seem to struggle swimming or eating so I'm hoping it's not bloat! Just wondering if anyone had a clue 🩶

Frogs and cranberries, it must be fall!

I drew this piece for my mail club next month and thought y’all would appreciate it! They are spring peepers, which are known to live in cranberry bogs and can overwinter while almost completely ā€œfrozenā€ thanks to an antifreeze-like chemical in their blood!

If anyone’s interested in the club (stickers/prints/bookmarks/animal facts/coloring pages + free shipping) please feel free to check the pinned post on my profile 🫶

How's my tank?

Hello!

This is my Alpine Newt tank that I've recently done a major upgrade to. It's a 52L Fluval Curve with the three stage filter system and I just set up the new chiller for it so the temp stays between 18° - 20° max.

In here I have 2 Alpine newts, I believe a male and a female just going off the different body shapes? But not sure. A bunch of fresh water skittle Shrimp, some Sulawesi Rabbit snails, a couple assassins and a small fresh water clam!

Food doesn't tend to get left behind with the shrimp around and I'm using the axolotl pellets for the main source for the whole tank, plus calcium blocks for the snails.

I do use the filter bacteria, dechlorinator and aquarium cleaner solutions once or twice a month depending on how my parameters are doing. The two plants you can see are live and have pretty good roots in the sand already! Which I'm super happy about. The shrimp love the moss ball and the newts are often hiding behind the Falcon or in the caves.

Got an air stone bubbling away in the middle and a land platform for the newts that they don't seem to want but it's there anyway!

Just looking for any tips or advice, hopefully I did alright for my first tank makeover ā¤ļø

Do they look healthy? It's a place that sells them in my city.

I've been looking into it and personally I'm concerned about the state of amphibians.I'm interested in getting one, but I'd like to know if you see anything that indicates their condition.

For each day this month I’m completing a final drawing or sketch for the children’s fantasy novel I’m illustrating, Capyhero. For day 25, I drew one of the minor antagonists from the book, a ā€œhollowā€ cane toad

this is my american green tree frog, his name is henry, named after henry letham from the movie stay. ^_^ a frog has been my dream pet since i was about 10. my parents decided to surprise me with one!

i know barely anything about frogs. absolutely any advice or tips are appreciated! i have no idea how old he is or anything,, also not sure if he's really a he 😭

some things i do know (correct me if im wrong):
1- when they shed it's TERRIFYING! i thought he was choking and dying. great first day with him.
2- they need a water dish that covers about half of their body, since they can drown, but drink through their skin
3- spray his tank 2-3 times a day until i can get a humidifier.
4- feed him every other day
5- don't touch him without gloves unless absolutely necessary

annddd.. that's basically it. please tell me absolutely anything about how to take care of him! i've got the gist of it but i want to do the best for my son ^_^

Pixie frog only eating once every 2ish weeks?

Post image

My pixie frog has just turned 3 years old, and I’m concerned about his eating habits. When he was younger he ate voracious, but as he’s gotten older he refuses to eat for longer periods of time. Slowly over the past year or so it’s become once a week, and over the last couple months he only eats about once every 2 weeks and much smaller portions (~5 discoid roaches v. 7 nightcrawlers + 20 super worms). His tank is 73-77F ish on the cool side and 82-87 on the warm side, always over 80% humidity. His water is heated as well and set to 28C. His weight has maintained over the past year-ish, he fluctuates depending on how recently he’s peed and/or eaten (1150-1350g). No hard masses in his belly, and he at his regular level of activity (having a bath or sitting under his hut). I’ve started giving him honey baths using manuka honey hoping that might facilitate any intestinal troubles. He gets his bugs calcium and vitamin coated when he does eat. I’m kind of at a loss as to what I can do to have him eat more often!

He will eat discoid roaches, crickets, nightcrawlers, super worms - anything that wiggles on its own, he doesn’t like artificial wiggle. He won’t eat mice (did before but rejects them now), silversides, BSF larva, or basically anything that doesn’t wriggle around a lot.

Any advice would be appreciated. Should I take him in to the vet?

So thank you all for helping me trying to find a tiger salamander and trying a way to find a tiger salamander and recently the reptile expo is on its way here. So wish me luck for finding a tiger salamander there (My only fear is how expensive it might be) and if I do get the tiger salamander I'll send a picture and send you a picture of the habitat I'm going to make for them

These amphibians were found by flipping rocks in a small rocky stream, I replaced every rock exactly how I found it. (Ithaca NY)

He's about the size of an oversized hamburger from one of those Millenial hipster hamburger joints.

He spent a full night jumping against the lid of his tank and we got the message.

Gave him some crickets and he was happily eating right away.

Hoping he continues to grow large and prosper!

Not sure the species, but one of the two salamanders in my mini pond developed stubby legs, flat feet, and retained gills, does that mean it wants to stay permanently in the pond?

Hii, I'm a bit worried about my Iberian ribbed newt, Rocky. Could somebody tell me if he actually looks bloated or just overfed? He seems to sleep a bit deeper but he doesn't seem lethargic when awake, swims and moves actively
