Serious AITBF Not Purchasing Car because my Bicycle gets me Around

My (19M) girlfriend (17F) has been on my case lately about getting a car. We live in a small town, and I get around just fine on my bicycle. She even rides on my handlebars sometimes, so I don't see what the big deal is.

I understand that most people my age are working toward getting a car, but between the purchase price, insurance, gas, and maintenance, it seems like a huge expense for something I don't need. I can get to work, the store, and pretty much anywhere else in town on my bike.

My girlfriend thinks it's time for me to "grow up." She says it's embarrassing that I don't have a car and that having one would make dating easier. She wants us to go on dates outside of town without relying on other people for rides, which I understand, but I don't think that's enough reason to take on such a big expense.

I'm not against getting a car someday if my circumstances change. Right now, though, I'd rather save my money than spend it on something I can manage without.

I work and pay my own expenses, so I don't see how not owning a car makes me immature. We've argued about this several times, and she's making me feel like I'm refusing to take responsibility for my life.

I don't want to buy a car just to prove I'm an adult. AIBTB?

Serious AITBF for scaring off my friends with fake ghost stories?

The apartment I live in with my dad is about 50+ years old. My grandmother passed away in 2018 and left the house to us. The walls are damp and the locality is pretty quiet, which might make the place spooky.

After living here for around a decade over here, I didn't have any ghostly horror nights over here. But whenever my friends come and especially staying over the night, I spook them about ghosts being present over there. It's easy to scare the believers.

But it's crazy to spook up people with Alexa's i.e Echo dot's "Ghost detection" feature.

It's even funnier when well educated scientific people get spooked up when Alexa says there is a ghost or 11 ghosts nearby!

AITBF for scaring them off and being a bad host?

Serious AITB for pursuing compensation after a dog attacked me, even though I kicked the owner's sign?

Last Saturday night, around 9pm, I was walking across a parking lot when a large German Shepherd charged out of a cigar lounge and bit me five times. The owner was standing in the entrance, apparently arguing with someone, and never tried to stop the dog as it ran roughly 20–30 yards toward me.

I turned to face the dog and backed away, but it kept lunging at me, eventually biting my thighs hard enough to draw blood. I didn't even realize how badly I'd been bitten until paramedics arrived and examined me.

The dog ran back inside, and the owner never apologized or checked on me. I was furious, and here's where I messed up: I ran over and kicked his sign. The dog then came back out and bit me another five times while I screamed for the owner to intervene. Instead, the owner took a picture of me kicking the sign. Eventually, the dog went back inside, and the owner shut the door.

I called the police and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. I received rabies vaccinations and antibiotics. The police initially seemed reluctant to do much, but after I insisted, they reportedly took action against the owner. I was told the dog had been "repossessed," though I don't know exactly what that means.

Now I'm dealing with the aftermath. I have bruising and bite marks, and I'll probably have some scars. I've also been much more frightened around dogs since the attack. My medical bills are already potentially thousands of dollars, and I can't afford to pay them out of pocket.

I contacted a personal injury law firm, but they declined to take my case because I don't need long-term physical treatment. Another firm said they'd try to negotiate an out-of-court settlement with the owner. If he refuses, though, I may have very few affordable options for recovering my expenses.

I know kicking the sign was stupid, and I understand why the owner took a picture of it. But I was just attacked multiple times, and he hadn't done anything to stop his dog or even acknowledge what happened. I feel like I'm the one left dealing with all the consequences while he gets to go back inside his business.

So, AITB for continuing to pursue compensation for my medical bills, even though I retaliated by kicking his sign? Am I taking this too far, or is it reasonable to hold the owner responsible for what happened?

Serious AITB for an ironic comment I made about a racist real estate broker (genuinely don’t know!)

In another sub (I won’t say which to avoid brigading) there was an article about a real estate broker who accidentally texted prospective renters “ugh they’re black”. They meant to text the owners instead

The broker apologized and was fired

The prospective tenants have now filed a civil lawsuit

One commenter said they hoped they get a multi million dollar payout

I thought that was absurd so I responded with this comment:

“lol you want her to get a multimillion dollar settlement?

I’m gay and I really hope someone accidentally texts me “ugh he’s a fa**ot” and then I can get millions!! Woohoo!”

I wasn’t trying to defend the racist broker, I was trying to criticize what (in my view) is our overly litigious society where lots of folks and sleazy lawyers are out to make a quick buck by suing people for molehills.

But the mods of the at sub banned me and when I tried to follow up and ask what I did wrong, became hostile and didn’t answer the question.

So, Reddit: am I an asshole? My best guess is that the mods must have thought that my comment was implicitly supporting the racist broker? Otherwise I don’t get it

Serious AITBF for being conflicted?

This is a throw away account, I don’t want people I know to find this.

A few months ago my boyfriend, me, my best friend and her daughter (under 1yo) were staying in a hotel. During this stay My boyfriend, Friend and I were all having fun, we went swimming, played card games and stayed up until about 5-6 AM just trying to be normal teenagers.
A couple weeks after this hotel stay my boyfriend and I got into an argument about something unrelated and I was venting to my friend about it. We ultimately drove to his house and him and I figured out our issues so I dropped my friend off at home. As soon as I get home my friend texts me freaking out because she “randomly” found deleted texts between my boyfriend and her that were explicit photos of her taken in 2022. (This story happens in 2026)..
As I’m looking at the screenshots of these texts I’m noticing the time stamps don’t match up at all to times he was near her phone or even near her period. Obviously I didn’t want to jump to conclusions and I was freaking out because I didn’t know what to do. I called my boyfriend asking about this but him and my friend both were high the night at the hotel so he doesn’t remember the night. (He has a bad memory and doesn’t smoke anymore so he was a lot higher than he normal would get).
I was going to try to do damage control but my friend ended up telling the police and tried to start a whole case on him when the cops told her it seems like she did it because the messages never were received from his phone (they both have IPhones and they believed the photos were unsent the minute they were sent.)
I simply can’t wrap my head around it to this day, I don’t want to think my boyfriend could ever do that but it hurts worse thinking my friend would do that, ive known her for 4 years and she’s never showed signs of framing someone of this. I also want to mention I’m her daughter’s godmother and I’ve given my all to raising this beautiful, wonderful child and I don’t want to lose my relationship with the baby.
What do I do? AMITAH?

Serious AITBF for posting about my friend’s dating struggles and betting against her?

I (17M) recently made a post about my friend (17F) calling out her shocking lack of motion. For context she frequently tells me it’s always been her dream to have a date to prom before she graduates. Unfortunately this seems more unachievable by the day, so I took it upon myself to outsource strategy to Reddit.

Fyi I’m a bit on the autistic side and people often tell me that my approach to social situations and life in general is abnormal. I do think this time I was reasonable though. After all, I researched online beforehand, so it's not like I did all this without any understanding of human psychology.

In the post (should you not have the time to read it) I explain she’s not really that bad but is just awkward and inexperienced around boys. Furthermore I linked the fake prediction market she made about this issue to illustrate her abysmal odds, having voted against her myself the odds were brought down to 4% at the time, but this isn’t really my fault as other people agree.

A mutual acquaintance (probably not for much longer) saw the post and recognized her market and sent her the post. She confronted me about it rather in public, claiming that my post about her nonexistent lovelife was not supportive and I wasn’t trying to help (which is false).

Despite me literally rating her an 8/10 explaining I planned to share some of the mana winnings when she ends up with no date she refused to just calm down. Tbh I thought I was being gentle if anything with the language but she seems to disagree.

Using my rare skills as an empath (I have passed the quizzes) I have deduced that she is upset and likely this is a response to her insecurity about being perpetually single. Upon explaining this to her, she got more mad. I don’t understand why because she should be thankful for the insight?

She then accused me of operating in an attempt to make her feel bad when I’m indubitably being fully altruistic. I wouldn’t use dark psychology on someone I know until I’ve mastered the art completely, so if you look at it reasonably she’s TBF.

Insofar, I advised her to get some better hobbies like poetry, listening to vinyl, reading (like the DSM-2), and Quentin Tarantino as it’s easier to be attracted to people who are in touch with their emotions. This would be a significant improvement over fake prediction markets. She told me to stop trying to fix her which makes zero sense considering she’s the one upset about having no allure.

Anyways, I was recommended to post here by the mutual acquaintance (who is also not on my side for some reason). I’m trying to do this the easy way, not the hard way. She is refusing to change her mind. Anyways only a guy with high emotional intelligence can understand her so really I’m protecting her even in the impossibility this post did any damage.

Just to get some confirmation; AITBF for posting about my friend’s dating struggles and betting against her?

Serious AITBF for not wanting to speak to my mom anymore after she went through my private messages?

for context, my mother made me (14F) give up my bedroom to guests for nearly a year (will be a year next month).

For months i've been venting about it to my best friend about the situation because my messages are the only sort of privacy i have. I haven't filtered anything, and always told him exactly what happened and exactly how i felt about it. Turns out my mother has been going into my discord and reading the vents. I don't know how long she's been doing this, but it isn't the first time it's happened.

A couple months ago, I found out that she was going through my vents and sending them to chatGPT. I moved past it, but now i don't know how to feel since she's done it again. She told me that i'm a bad kid, and i'm always trying to make myself sound like the victim. She told me not to vent to people outside of the family. I don't know what she expects me to do. I'm not gonna vent to her, she'll just tell a family member about it. (yes, she has done this before.) My best friend was my only outlet.

She's not making me stop being friends with him, but it's clear that she doesn't like him. I'm also upset because I have no clue just how much she read. I talk to my best friend about everything. I told him about unpleasant thoughts i have, I told him about my sexuality (which i don't want to tell my mother.) I basically told him everything there is to know about me.

I don't know what to do at this point. I have no privacy in this house, not even in my own phone (i literally can't change the password because she'll take my phone and won't give it back if she can't get into it).

To add onto this, she also told me that I behave like my father (who is literal scum of the earth.) I have done everything in my power to make sure that i'm not like either one of my parents, so her telling me that really hurt.

She also claimed that I was talking badly about her to my friend. (I mean...if saying exactly what she does and says to me is talking 'badly'...then maybe maybe it's her behavior towards me that's bad but idk)

This is slightly unrelated but she also told me that she's been 'nice' to be because my grandma is here, and she doesn't want to knock me out in front of her. (i don't think she means literally knocking me out, but she does use physical 'discipline' when she gets mad at me.)

Anyways I don't know if i'm genuinely just a horrible daughter or not. I don't want to talk to her anymore, and I don't want to let her know things about me besides the basics, but she always pries her way in and snoops around. Please be brutally honest and tell me if i'm the issue.

EDIT: she's logged into my discord account and has been sending the conversations of me and my friends to chatgpt. i don't know what to do about this.

Serious AITBF for refusing to give a client free work after last minute cancellations, months of ghosting, and an unpaid final invoice?

I (M, 26) do freelance video/photo work while finishing uni. Last year, a local business owner paid me upfront around $650 (in my currency) for a content package for his manufacturing business.

He postponed our shoots multiple times. When we locked in a weekend in late August, he canceled less than 24 hours prior because he forgot the shoot was happening. I texted him right after that I’d hold "free slots" so he wouldn't lose his money, a mistake, as I didn't clarify this couldn't last forever after repeated cancellations.

A few weeks later, he asked to try again. We had a call where I explained my schedule was tightening up and terms might change down the road. I know a verbal call means zero on paper so I get why he held onto the written "free slots". After that call, he ghosted me for 5 months.

He then hit me up wanting content for a restaurant. I told him his other business still had 3 slots open (omitting the word "free"), but warned him the restaurant was a separate gig billed at normal rates. He gave a thumbs-up. He canceled this shoot at 10:30 PM the night before. I rescheduled with no penalty, but on the morning of the shoot, he canceled again. He then ghosted me for another 5 months.

A few months ago, he reached out again covering both brands. He asked about the missed sessions from last year. I explained that since the cancellations were on him and cost me work opportunities, I couldn't do them for free, but offered a heavy discount. He agreed, and we signed a contract: 50% upfront, 50% on completion.

He paid the deposit, so I shot and delivered the media. He then stalled on the remaining $190. For over a month, he kept promising payment while actively posting and running ads with my videos.

When I pressed him he claimed he never canceled last minute, said I "took his money and did nothing," and argued that in his trade, material deposits sit forever, so his money should act like permanent store credit. He referenced the free slots message and ignored that my time is perishable and cancellations cost me days of work.

I lost my cool. I told him he had a "recurring pattern of being unreliable," explained how busy I am, and said I can't afford unreliable clients (this was a brag i know). He immediately latched onto that, pulled the "disrespectful youngster" card (he's much older), called me arrogant, and lectured me on humility with a story about him giving a customer free stuff years after a cancelation.

To kill the drama, I just thanked him for the advice, apologized for getting emotional, and left it at that. I'm eating the $190 loss to cut ties. AITA?

Serious AITBF for wanting to recollect the past?

Thumbnail

I texted this person who was a former classmate in one of my classes in college. We weren't even close or friends. We just had a group project. I texted her all of a sudden years after the class. It had been 6 years of no contact at all. There was nothing else I wanted to say aside from remembering and recollecting the past and see if they remember. There was nothing else I wanted to get from her. I just wanted to recollect the past and that's it.

After asking me a third time what I wanted, and all I did was recollect the past, she blocked me. I guess she changed her number because her number was out of service when I called her from a different number.

Did I exhaust her patience? Or could she have been more patient? Was she being rude? AITBF?

Serious AITBF for telling my friend that I don’t have time to spend with just him?

I (21f) have a very tight schedule, as I am in school and work at the same time. I have this friend (20m) who is also my ex bf. He has never liked my friends nor wanted to hang out with them. When asked why, he always gives some judgmental half answer back. Like “your friends are weird” “I just don’t like them” “you’re only friends with ppl who have kids” “you’ve (me) have slept with all of them” etc etc etc. He has never met any of them. I never pushed the issue too much bc I’m more of a party type and he’s always been antisocial. So, I normally just wrote all of the issues there off as that.
Needless to say, he wants all of our hangouts to be one on one and just us. I made that work for a while. But with me recently starting school- now on top of work too- I have VERY little free time and energy. I explained to him that I don’t have the time to hang out with everyone individually and that him hanging out with a group of my friends on occasion would make my life a whole lot easier. He told me to “just choose them and choose him when I can” and I said “we’d never hang out then- I do not have the time.”
I also brought up how I don’t talk shit about his friends, despite them talking shit about me. Whivh with that, I was referring to a recent situation where this girl that I go to school with (who happens to be friends with him) texting him talking shit abt the way I looked at school orientation- when she wasn’t even there. And he made fun of me for it then refused to tell me what all she said. He then told me I “needed to calm down”.

Romantic AITB for wanting to end things before someone catches feelings ?

Some time ago, I started talking to a lady who was a friend of a friend. She was going through a difficult time because of bad past experiences, and since my friend was busy, I started talking to her. We got along pretty well.

Eventually, she asked if I wanted to s*xt with her online, and I agreed. We both explicitly agreed multiple times that it would be casual, with no strings attached or emotional involvement. It was just for mutual satisfaction.

After s*xting and video calls multiple times, I started suspecting she might be catching feelings.

A few incidents made me wonder.

Once, she told me she was talking to another guy. I wondered why she was telling me because I genuinely don't care who she talks to. We're not in a relationship, and she's free to talk to whoever she wants.

Another time, we discussed physical preferences. I mentioned that I liked tall women, and she got angry, asking why I didn't just go meet a tall woman instead.

I was confused. Bro, chill out. I'm not your boyfriend. We're both allowed to have preferences, so why is that an issue when we agreed this wasn't a relationship?

She also messages me frequently and has tried calling me multiple times.

I know these things don't necessarily mean she has feelings for me, and I could be misinterpreting them. But together, they make me feel things might be getting more emotionally complicated than we agreed.

I have work and studies to manage, and I'm genuinely busy. I don't want a committed relationship right now because I know I can't give someone the time and attention they deserve. I don't want to commit when I can't fulfil those responsibilities.

I'm considering ending this arrangement because I don't want either of us to get hurt. But am I being unfair by deciding this based on suspicion rather than an actual confession?

There's one more thing. She once said she wanted us to continue doing this for a long time. She even suggested that if either of us caught feelings, we shouldn't tell the other person.

I explicitly said NOOOOOO.

I told her that if either of us developed feelings, we should be honest and end the arrangement together. Otherwise, one person could get seriously hurt while the other still believed everything was casual.

She replied with something like, "Yeah, yeah, okay, okay, okay."

Now I'm confused. I don't want to assume how she feels, but I also don't want to continue something that might eventually hurt either of us.

So, AITB for wanting to end this casual arrangement because I suspect she's catching feelings, even though she hasn't explicitly told me she has?

Theoretical AITBF if I put less effort at organizing my run club

Lead a local run club that has grown from 5 people at our runs to like 60. Its awesome.

99.9% of the time i love. I love seeing community, people chasing goals, gets me out of the house and it's not tons of work.

Before everything run I always try to go over the route for the run, club updates, welcome new members, meeting spot post run, etc, and take a picture.

Takes less than 5 min but it's a spiel regulars have heard many times.

So now I find myself having to talk over people who aren't paying attention, talking to friends. I end up rushing through things and it feels shitty.

These are adults, I feel weird telling them to be quiet.

Very much considering just being "our routes will now be kept on our socials, look at them before coming" and skipping the pre run gathering except for the photo.

Serious AITBF for not wanting to listen to my friend about texting their ex?

I've witnessed a handfull of my friends go through an "on and off" relationship and always tried to give advice on why they shouldn't look back. It never worked as they would just do what they already wanted to anyway.

My friend recently broke up with her ex and called me the other night wanting to text him. We talked about why she would want to do that and I said she shouldn't do it a bunch of times as he treated her poorly for the last 10 months.

She was still hung up on texting him anyway and I wanted to set a boundary that I do not want to hear about her wanting to text him or get back together with him again if she is going to text him tonight. I said I was down to talk about her feelings and be there for her during this but only if it isn't about planning to run back to him. I also mentioned the reason behind this boundary was because I've gone through it with other friends.

I feel I might've come off harsh when setting this boundary with her and one of my friends pointed out that it wasn't kind to react that way. Now I have this feeling of being a bad friend for telling her this.

I came to the conclusion that I am done listening to people who are in this type of relationship as it is too draining hearing about problems they don't want to fix. As I metioned I do not mind her venting to me but if she's contacting me to feed her delusions or give advice she won't take I'm not putting up with it.

AITBF? Should I apologize to her? Was it too soon to say this to someone going through a fresh breakup?

Serious AITB for not telling my boss to hop on a zoom call

I work night shift and I am the only one in my department who does (IN OFFICE)- it’s for if things change and tasks need approved. A corporate meeting with some international partners was happening during my shift but did not directly involve me- because it was happening on my shift I sit in on the calls to shadow and my boss is always on there for our department (WORKING FROM HOME) as he knows what’s actually going on.

I hop on the meeting 5 mins before scheduled time and everyone starts to get on, it’s 10 mins in and everyone just adjusting audio and voice.

15 mins in no sign of boss, I text: no meeting?? - to no response

then someone actually addresses me and asks where boss is, I say I do not know and reach out on teams with no response.

meeting goes smoothly, don’t get talked to anymore, and it ends.

the next day boss asked me why I didn’t check on him
and that he got in trouble for not being on the call as he missed important information.

I only reached out once but should I have reached out again or is it my fault for thinking my boss could keep up with his schedule himself?

Serious AITBF Only Viewing my Wife's Girlfriend as a Source of Income?

My (30M) wife (28F) and I are both polyamours and we both seek out partners who also consent to our relationship type. Currently I am sexually and romantically involved with just my wife. She has a girlfriend (26F).

I accept her girlfriend as a great partner for my wife and welcome her into our home and relationship. As for myself, I am not involved with her in any way. I view her as a third income for our household. We aren't considered friends.

At most we both hangout with my wife and her girlfriend. Occasionally she joins us when we go on dates with permission. I am always allowed to say no she isn't invited.

Recently, like maybe 3 days ago her girlfriend got on my case about me just allowing her to be a part of my personal life. I explained that I only viewed her as a source of income. Which yes it came out harsh but I wasn't really thinking about a proper reply.

Now to her and my Wife I'm a Buttface.

Romantic WIBTBF If I dated a guy that I now know my “freind likes?”

So I am in high school upper class. I have a freind I’ll call her Kate and another guy David who likes Kate and another guy who ig ill call Tom (not their real names) so I met all of them last year and we are kind of in a group, David likes Kate and tom doesn’t like Kate and honestly I think David could do better

Kate is rude, puts him down constantly, makes fun of his looks and interests and is honestly a bitch overall. She is not conventionally attractive but acts as she can pull any guy as we were walking in the hallway together and these two guys smiled and waved at me and said hi you’re really pretty, then Kate says “ew I don’t want you guys” and then the guys look confused and say “oh we were talking to her” she’s that kind of person and then she looks at me and says “eh”.

Anyways that’s about her and now David, he’s attractive to me and we have a lot of interests in common, we’ve always just been good friends but I started seeing him otherwise and Tom noticed and said he doesn’t like Kate and I should try to shoot my shot with David because he said he likes me. (I’m currently waiting for tom to text me back rn because he said “no you didn’t. want me to be honest?” When I said I messed up my shot at him”) but anyways

I was in class with Kate and was talking about how I thought it was funny how David gave up on her and he doesn’t like her because she doesn’t like him and he got tired of trying. She admits to me she does have feelings for him. She told me she wouldn’t care if I told David and tom but (she wanted me to tell them) I didn’t and now he’s done trying with her mostly and it’s shifted to me

Would I be the buttface if I started dating him when I knew she liked him back and he didn’t?

(Jsyk, she thinks we are close friends as I’m her second closest friend to her, it’s one way)

Also I am a girl I just realized I posted this on my friends account instead of switching to mine

Serious AITBF for moving my savings to my dad’s account because I no longer trust my mom financially?

My mom (F34) has been with my stepdad for almost 10 years. Recently, she suddenly decided to leave him and move into a small apartment with my younger siblings (11 and 5).

I (F16) have decided to stay with my stepdad because his house is bigger, he’s financially stable, and honestly, he’s my dad in every way that matters to me. I even call him Dad.

My mom has always struggled financially, while my dad works incredibly hard to provide for us. Last year, we were at risk of losing our house, and if it weren’t for my dad working so much, we would have lost it.

That’s why I’m frustrated with my mom. In my eyes, she can be incredibly ungrateful and egotistical, and I feel like she doesn’t appreciate everything my dad has done for our family.
Her reason for leaving him is that they’re supposedly not “intimate” enough. I understand that intimacy matters and she has every right to leave if she’s unhappy. However, I can’t help wondering whether she has considered the financial consequences, given that she already struggles to make ends meet.

There’s also the issue of my savings. In the past, my mom has occasionally said, “Money is tight, so I took some money out of your savings. Of course, I’ll pay you back when my paycheck comes in.”
I haven’t really minded before because she’s always paid me back. But now, I feel differently. She insists she has her finances under control, but I seriously doubt that. I don’t want my savings used to cover financial problems I didn’t create, especially when I’m only 16 and saving for my own future.

I also suspect she might be seeing someone she met on a solo vacation. I have no proof, but she’s suddenly receiving lots of WhatsApp notifications despite never using it before. It could mean absolutely nothing, so I’m not accusing her of cheating.
Because of everything, I’ve decided to move my savings into my dad’s bank account so he can help keep my money safe.

I don’t want my younger siblings to suffer financially. They’re innocent, and I love them. But I don’t think it should be my responsibility to financially support my mom when I’m still a minor myself.
I feel guilty because she has always paid me back, and I believe she probably would again. However, I’m uncomfortable with my savings becoming a backup plan whenever she struggles financially.
I want my mom to be happy, but I’m angry.
My dad has sacrificed so much to keep our family afloat, and now she’s leaving him without seemingly having the financial stability to support herself.
I know her relationship decisions are hers to make, but I’m 16. I shouldn’t have to worry about whether my mom can afford her decisions or whether my savings will be needed to bail her out.

AITBF for moving my savings to my dad’s account and no longer wanting to lend my mom money, even though she has always paid me back? Am I letting my anger influence my decision, or is it reasonable to protect my money?

Serious AITBF for making my sister return my pens?

This is a silly argument but i don’t have many close people to talk to abt small stuff like this so i just needed to essentially vent and might delete this later.

So I got my wisdom teeth out 2 days ago and ig haven’t been fully aware and i was sleeping a lot. 2 of my sisters came to my apartment and were just here hanging out making sure i was good. Now today i sit down to write something down and i have a special pen that doesn’t make the click sound that i like to write with and i can’t find it anywhere. I’m searching the counter multiple times looking at each pen cause im thinking “oh im still out of it maybe im just not looking at the pen right” (cause i have multiple pens and highlighters out for taking notes) im searching the floor, under furniture cause i have a cat and think maybe he took it and hid it. So i text my sisters and i ask if anyone saw my pen or hid it cause i was going crazy looking for it (im autisic and adhd so i was kinda getting stressed over this) and one of the sisters said she took it but i couldn’t tell if she was being serious. she stopped responding for a sec so i FTed her and her husband answered and showed that they took the pen and a highlighter. so i told them to bring it back (they live 12 mins away from me) and she said she would bring it on tuesday cause she’s “using it”. i said to bring it today cause they are just sitting at home and why would they take it. she just sat there looking at me and i said “hello??”. she said “okay” and hung up. so i text “what time are you bringing the pens?” and she replies “we’re literally leaving rn calm down” which i didn’t yell i asked what time cause she hung up on me and i was wondering if she was coming now or later. they get here but only her husband is returning the pens. i ask who’s idea it was (cause they’ve taken stuff from me before) and he started getting defensive saying “why are you asking me? i was at work.” but he was here with her yesterday and he’s the one usually playing games. then he just walks away so i just close the door. so now they are both in a mood and ig annoyed cause im “making a big deal over pens” which yea i am but again with my autism and adhd i was getting stressed about not finding the pen and just having feelings that aren’t easy to explain. so AITBF for being upset over them taking my pens and return them or are they justified in being upset at me?

TLDR: my sister and husband took my pens and i told them to return them to me and now they are sour cause i told them to return the pens today and got upset at them for taking the pens.

Serious AITB for not wanting to ask my stepdad for his blessing?

This morning I woke up and asked my mom for blessing (pedir la bendición) but walked past my stepdad and didn’t ask for his. My mom followed me into my room and told me it looked bad.
Context: I used to ask both of them for their blessing. However, my relationship with my stepdad has gone down the drain thanks to his own actions (he’s done things to upset me, my mom and my sister and refuses to apologize when he’s in the wrong)
My last straw was a few weeks ago during a cruise trip. My mom asked me to do her a favor. She asked me to check if he was at the disco, and he was. I went back to tell her I saw him. When I did, he called me a chismosa (gossip or busybody) it pissed me off because I was only doing her a favor and he had to reason to call me that.
I decided I was done with him. I stopped interacting with him and blocked him on every platform. So did my sister. When the issue came up, he said he wasn’t going to humiliate himself by apologizing. That only boosted my feelings on the whole situation.
I haven’t been interacting with him ever since we got back from the trip. That included asking for his blessing.
This morning my mom told me I didn’t need to sit down and have a conversation with him but asking for his blessing was the least I could do. She thought it looked bad on me.
I can understand her to some extent, but I feel that I shouldn’t have to keep up gesture of respect towards someone I don’t respect nor want a relationship with, especially after years of tolerating his toxic behavior. The cruise incident was the last straw. It’s not the only reason I stopped all interactions with him.
I also think there’s not point in scolding me about something I don’t care about. It’s not going to change my view on things.
So, AITB for deliberately refusing to ask my stepdad for his blessing after cutting contact with him?

Serious AITB For interjecting someone after they interrupted me?

I took a couple of trips to Seattle and I had a good time every time. I was telling this at a family function with some friends I havent seen in awhile where we were talking about trips we took.

My friend (female) asked if I got to try some seafood there because they had good lobster. I said I didnt. Im allergic to seafood.

I just said "I didnt" when she started saying "then youre not really a Traveler because you didnt try the local cuisine" and she was about to say something about Pike Place market.

I interrupted her and said "thats because im allergic to seafood". The others had a laugh but she got mad at me for interrupting. Then one of my other friends said that she interrupted me first. She got huffy. Then the dessert arrived and we dropped the subject.

Im just wondering if I could have handled that better. Am I the Buttface for interrupting my friend?

Serious AITBF for explaining an inconsistency and not understanding what was asked

Howdy. I, 20F, recently started loaning people money through a Reddit community. I like helping. I’m learning lots about finances, payment apps, fees, spotting scams, and other stuff. I’ve noticed borrowers sometimes choose to work with verified lenders, even if I contacted them first and we’ve already begun the process, so I’m trying to become verified.

I met the requirements for the first tier of verification and contacted the moderators. There was a pre-made tracking sheet template in the subreddit description but it didn’t fully make sense to me and wasn’t how I wanted to track for myself. They requested I use theirs because it makes it easier on them which is totally fair. I didn’t fill out one of the columns that wanted "receipts". I felt the links to the posts where both parties confirmed that payment was sent and received counted. They told me what was required so I went back and fixed it.

After reviewing my spreadsheet, the mod I’ve been doing this with sent me the message:

“You are credited for the full values.

Row 2: [borrower name]’s receipt shows $142.00 but column D lists $140.

Row 5: [borrower name]’s receipt shows $51.50 but column D lists $50”

I interpreted this as them pointing out the differences so I could fix them, and letting me know that I’d still receive credit for the full amounts and we were done. I replied to explain the differences, just so they knew that I had done those on purpose and they weren’t actually part of the loans. One I sent an extra $2 to cover a protection fee. The other I sent an extra $1.50 because I wanted to use a feature. In both cases, it was discussed and made clear between me and the borrower that the extra money was NOT part of the loan. It was not asked for by the borrower and it was not meant to be repaid. In my head, they are calculating how much money I’ve loaned out, and I don’t consider the $3.50 to be part of the loan amount. I explained so that everything would be accurate, I didn’t want to get in trouble later or accidently break a rule.

The mod responded to my explanation somewhat harshly (see attached images for full conversation). Telling me that I don’t need to make their life difficult and I don't need to be J.R.R Tolkien and tell them the genealogy of the plastic used to make the keyboard the transaction was sent on. I felt this was unnecessarily rude. I wasn’t trying to argue about the amounts or refuse to change it if that’s what they needed, I just wanted to be clear. I just interpreted what was needed differently. I sent a reply so they knew where I was coming from and that I wasn’t trying to be difficult and that I didn’t really like how they spoke to me, especially when I was only trying to clarify something they brought up.

The mod then sent a much longer message telling me off. I understand that moderating in a community takes time and that I’m the one who misunderstood the initial requirements. But I feel like their response was unnecessarily condescending and personal. I wasn’t demanding special treatment or expecting them to be cheerful, I just thought I was explaining my reasoning and I was hurt by how they talked to me.

So, am I in the wrong? Was I being unnecessarily difficult by explaining amounts instead of just changing them, or was the moderator out of line in how they responded?

(Additional context: I am neurodivergent and my severe OCD often leads to over-explaining and going through every detail. I also know that in the grand scheme of things this does not matter. Only two people were involved, it wasn't THAT bad, and it was just a bad internet interaction. But I am asking for outside opinions so that I can try and learn.)

Serious AITBF for forgetting to feed my friends cat

I am a bit fuzzy on the exact details, however this happened a few months back and I just need some outside opinion. Also some helpful context, I am 14 and cant drive.

My friend asked me to feed her cat for a week while she was in Florida. I agreed, and she showed me what to do everyday such as:

- feeding the cat twice a day at 7am in the morning and at 7pm at night

- cleaning the litter box once a day or so

- spend a little bit of time with the cat every morning and night

Once she left I did just that for the first 3 days of the week, waking up early during the summer to feed her cat. I rode my bike every morning and every night at 7 to feed and play with the cat just as she had asked. On the fourth day I had forgot to feed the cat since I had just gotten back from a movie at 8pm that night and kinda forgot because I had also had a panic attack and was very out of it, so I forgot. She texted me in the morning if I remembered to feed the cat last night. (she had also asked me every single time I was supposed to feed the cat if I had and send her a picture.) I said no and apologized, and I said that I had forgot because I was distracted and went to a movie but I fed the cat in the morning. She blew up at me and told me that her dad was angry at her that I forgot and that it would be my fault that the cat was depressed. I apologized again and said I think that cat will be fine I only forgot once, plus the cat still had food in it bowl and seemed fine. I also remember on the 6th day or so I had forgotten in the morning so I fed the cat during lunch and just hung out with it for longer but she never asked about that. She wasn't very picky about time however, as long as it was no longer than an hour-ish after or before 7pm-am. Also note I have an electric bike and it takes around 15-20min to get to her house on it.

My dad for one was not happy and said that the cat will be fine if you only feed it once a day, since we have 7 cats and only feed them once a day. He also told me to just get it a bigger bowl if it matters that much. I agreed with him, however they aren't happy still even tho I told them what my dad had said. Now her dad doesn't really like me. AITBF?

edit: I do realize I was wrong for not going to the cat. No I didn’t forget more than once and someone told me I was an awful pet sitter for this even tho I didn’t think it was THAT deep. I know I am in the wrong now. Every time I went over there the cats bowl was still halfway full so I think they just cared more about me being with the cat because it needs human interaction more than anything. I think the dad comment I made was pointless yes but i thought i was being helpful for their peace of mind but clearly I wasn’t. I apologized several times to them but I feel like it wasn’t that big of a deal but maybe it is. Again the cat still had food when I came back hunger isn’t the issue.

META AITBF for not wanting to talk to a sales guy that has no interest in cars?

For some background, I am a pretty big car enthusiast.

Basically, I went to a local dealership looking for a used car and asked to speak to a sales person. I showed interest in an Acura TL. When I mentioned this and started to ask more questions, the sales person had no idea what an Acura was and thought I meant Honda and insisted it was a Honda. So I interrupted and asked for a manager. The sales guy then started arguing with me and then the manager ended up coming out of his office and kicking me off his property.

Serious AITBF for making someone leave a server?

I (16FTM) joined the Discord server of a streamer a couple of months ago. I've had a great time connecting to other people and even found an amazing friend group.

But there's one person who often provokes other members of the server, asking weird questions about something we said or acting like a smart ass who knows everything. I think he's about 25. For some reason he has been targeting me in particular, making kind of transphobic comments, questioning my knowledge of certain topics when I was just casually talking about them, etc. But since his bullying has been so low-key I wasn't able to report him to any server mod and could only talk about my friends in the server about it.

A few weeks ago, during a stream of said streamer where he was reacting to a video, that person made a racist comment which upset me so I told him that what he said wasn't okay and that it's against Twitch's, Discord's and the servers rules. We kept arguing back and forth and at some point my friends started arguing with him too. One of them told a server mod who was also in the stream but didn't seem to have noticed the racist comment. They said they will look into it so we got back to watching the stream in peace.

Two weeks ago one of my friends noticed that the person left the server. We were all pretty happy about it but I've been feeling guilty because he basically left because of me. I feel like I should have just ignored him instead of making him leave.
