My fellow Americans,
After a long period of inactivity, I’m pleased to announce that r/AlGore is officially under new management.
And unlike the 2000 presidential election, this transition of power was remarkably straightforward.
With the subreddit having been abandoned, I’ve taken over moderation with the goal of transforming this community into an active, welcoming home for everyone interested in the life, career, and legacy of Albert Arnold Gore Jr.
So, what’s changing?
Over the coming days and weeks, I’ll be working to revitalize this community with:
A refreshed appearance: New banners, community descriptions, user flairs, and an updated visual identity inspired by the Gore–Lieberman campaign.
Historical archives: Campaign advertisements, speeches, photographs, interviews, and other material documenting Gore’s political career.
Political discussion: Conversations about the Clinton–Gore administration, the 2000 election, electoral reform, and Gore’s broader political legacy.
Climate and environmental advocacy: Discussions of Gore’s environmental work and the issues he has championed for decades.
Goreposting: Memes, satire, alternate history, and the occasional joke about hanging chads, lockboxes, and the information superhighway.
What kind of community are we building?
Above all, I want r/AlGore to be a place where political history can be appreciated, discussed, and occasionally laughed about.
You don’t have to agree with every position Gore has ever taken to participate. Thoughtful criticism, historical debate, and different perspectives are welcome.
Whether you supported Gore in 2000, discovered him through An Inconvenient Truth, or weren’t even born when the Florida recount happened, there’s a place for you here.
Now, I want to hear from you.
What would you like to see from this community? Are there particular events, speeches, policies, or moments from Gore’s career you’d like to revisit? Have ideas for recurring discussion threads or community events?
Share your suggestions below!
After all, a subreddit is only as good as the people who participate in it.
Thank you for being here, and welcome to the next chapter of r/AlGore.
