  • capstone HM workout: 5000-5000-2000

  • going back to the theatre for the first time in years

  • summarizing my last two training cycles

Just finished working on the last part:

  • 13-week 5K-10K cycle on 43 mpw. Badly periodized, but the workouts (mainly lifted from 1, 2, 3 4) got me huge PRs. Looking back at this cycle, it has taught me a lot, more than any previous cycle, about how much intensity I can take in, and about what I need to monitor in order to control training load.

  • 15-week 40K trail cycle on 50 mpw. Survived it despite multiple heatwaves, and was happy with how my experimental 'VK30K' workouts turned out. In retrospect, this cycle taught me a lot about what works for me in order to prepare for long (in my case, 4+ hours) trail distances without risking injury, which was all about finding the 'minimum effective dose' of uphill and downhill.

Had a 40.5 km long run today scheduled, with 38 km at 95% Marathon Pace
Did it on the treadmill, 38 km at 3:43 min/km.
Finished strong with around 230 grams of carbs, little bit of gut issues but nothing serious
Tomorrow taking it very easy with two very easy runs

Edit: not eating an entire nutella jar

am continuing my training block be for XC meet in the 4Yh of November, also bough I am only 14 i take a very heavy mileage training approach, so I will be doing a double threshold session with 2km warmup and cool-down per session on the Saturday of 6x6m and 1m rest AM and then 25 x 1m and 30s rest PM, followed by a Sunday of a 22 km long run.

Another big weekend of the plan. 10 today at lunch time. Saturday has 18 w/12 at MP - this will be a big test for me as I am pretty tired with a lot of miles piled up in the last week. Then Sunday is 6 easy to close out the week! Around the running and eating, I have kid stuff, spending time with my favorite lady, a little yard work, and some indoor chores.
