Regretting purchase, need help

I wanted a used RDX, hopefully with tech pkg, in the $15k range so I could pay cash (which was impossible with decent mileage). I was only able to find this 2018 Base model (with the single 5" screen) with 123k miles for $14,000+tax through a private seller who kept meticulous maintenance records, so I knew the car had been well taken care of, including the timing belt, etc being done at 80k and in great condition. I felt it may be more reliable than one through a dealer with no service history. I also knew I would miss having the newer tech so I researched online beforehand about an aftermarket infotainment/bigger screen/CarPlay. I did find what I believed were a few options (one being Smarty Trend?) and felt it would be worth buying the car and upgrading the screen since the ones with tech pkg were out of my budget. As you probably guessed, car audio shops are telling me that due to the separate climate control display underneath, it cannot be changed. I do know about hooking my phone to the dash but that's not what I wanted.

I've only had it a week and am wondering if I should sell it, bite the bullet and get a loan for one with some tech. I'm a 70yo woman and have no one who can help me on this kind of thing and worried that I have made a really bad decision.

Am I now stuck with this car? I would appreciate any advice or suggestions as to what I can or should do. Thank you.

THANKS EVERYONE for commenting! I know this is a great car and want to keep it, so will keep looking into bigger screen options. Until then I will get by using my phone. I guess I've just gotten spoiled in my old age. 😬

Just bought a 2024 certified pre-owned Acura MDX and idle stop doesn’t work

• Upvotes

Hi all, I just bought a 2024 certified pre-owned Acura MDX a few months ago. Within 6-8 weeks, the idle stop stopped working. It always said the system was warming up or charging even when it was warmed up and had been running/driving for over an hour. (At lights and stop signs the engine won’t turn off). I took it to the dealer-they tried triple charging the battery and that didn’t work. They ended up doing a factory reset on the car to fix the issue. Fast forward a few weeks and the issue has returned. Last time this happened, they couldn’t figure out what was wrong and just did a factory reset. Right before i bought the car, the button on the trunk to open the trunk was also glitching and they did a factory reset on the car, then gave us a discount on an extended warranty. There’s less than 50k miles on the car so it also has the manufacturers warranty. I really don’t want to keep dealing with a glitchy car and am nervous that this recurring issue is indicative of other electronic issues with the car. Do I have any recourse since it is a certified pre owned car and is already glitching? Would they let me return the car and get most of my money back or am I stuck with this car and need to push them to find a root cause? If I ignore the idle stop issue, is it likely indicative of a bigger issue with the car? What would y’all do in this situation?

2015 Acura TLX V6 — Dealership says engine and transmission mount bolt threads are stripped after crankshaft recall. Am I responsible for the $917 repair?

I own a 2015 Acura TLX V6 and recently took it to Spreen Acura to have the crankshaft recall performed. The repair required the engine to be removed.

After removing the engine, the dealership told me that the threads for one engine block bolt and one transmission bolt were stripped. According to the service representative, Garet Cunningham, the bolts were present but weren't secure because the threads were damaged. He says the damage was discovered after the engine was removed and that the threads could only be inspected after removing the engine/transmission.

They are recommending a Time-Sert thread repair to fix both locations for $917 in parts and labor. They also said they could reassemble the vehicle without those two bolts, but that would leave one securing bolt missing from both the engine and transmission.

I haven't had any engine or transmission work done during my ownership, and I'm not aware of any previous repairs that would have caused this. The dealership hasn't clearly explained how they determined the threads were already damaged before the recall work.

The service representative recently messaged me saying there may have been a miscommunication between him and the technician. He also clarified that my vehicle is not a salvage-title vehicle and encouraged me to come to the dealership to inspect the condition of the engine block while the engine is still out.

I'm planning to go in and ask them to show me the damaged threads and explain their findings before agreeing to pay anything. What should I do or ask when I go?

Having a hard time with my dealer

Me and my partner recently started paying off a Certified Pre-Owned, 2019 ilx A spec around February off of a legit Acura dealer.
At the time, the car was still covered with factory warranty until April when it expired.
They also included an extended warranty we approved of but later found out was 3rd party.
I ask myself why not its own Acura extended warranty?
Well, recently about a month or so ago, we noticed condensation building up in the passenger head light.
We didn’t know when or how long it has been going on for so we did some research.
Keep in mind, we take good care of this car, its never had issues or been tampered with.
Turns out it is a very common issue with the final generation of ilx’s.
Acura has acknowledged and issued Technical Service Bulletins stating the problem, cause, and fix to their technicians.
With all that being said, we took it to our dealer.
As we arrived, a service consultant came to assist us, they took pictures of the headlight, miles, and vin.
Since the factory warranty expired, they right away got to the point and denied any help unless paying for a diagnostic just to confirm the issue.
They never proceeded to help with the third party warranty, (we had to after just to also get denied for it not being a covered component.)
We brought the Technical Service Bulletin to the consultant’s attention, well they just shrugged it off stating, “thats just a notice to the technicians on how to fix the issue, either way nothing can be done without factory warranty”
We were quite upset as we in no way were at fault of the issue and clearly know, without estimating it will cost an arm and a leg.
We called Acura customer relations and they basically told us the same since the vehicle is not under factory warranty. We felt helpless, less like customers, and more like a cash grab.
Customer relations recommended a diagnostic just to confirm so they can possibly provide goodwill assistance with the fix.
They did give us a case number but we have no clue on how that will go, im asking for advice on that. Thank you :)

We really want to leave Acura at these times. Unfortunately, we just started paying off the car.

On top of that, we found some reports and files after through the (National Highway and Safety Administration) site acknowledging the issue and stating

“To: All Acura Service Managers and Consultants,

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (AHM) is searching for certain 2019-2022 ILXs with a client complaint of moisture/condensation in the headlights. To better understand the cause of this condition, AHM would like to inspect the vehicle prior to you attempting a repair of any kind.”

We hope providing that statement can help our case a bit more, we wish to proceed action one last time to a different Acura dealer in hopes of help or resources.

Anything you fellow peeps can advice and recommend, Thanks 🙏

I had a private inspector check this car I want and this came up. Needs a wheel alignment but idk how much these errors are going to cost or what the issue even is. I was looking at another car that had the same issue and I don’t think that dealer could fix it. Is this common on the 2020 TLX?
