WIBTAH for refusing to lend money to my International friend?

Hii, so recently I've been in a tricky dilemma that I don't know how to solve. So my friend, 20m Vietnamese lets say, "K", and me, 20m, have been friends since our freshmen years and are in the same department so we regularly see each other in class. I thought he was a cool guy to hangout with and I was particularly more excited since he was my first ever International friend. And as any broke college students, we also wanted to take part-time to earn some money on the side.

But things started to change on our 2nd year. At the start of the semester, "K" DMed me if he could lend me around $2000 NTD (or around $60 USD) and promised that he would return it the next month after he got his paycheck. I didn't think much of it since i know "K" and so I did. And the next month he eventually did paid me back. And to my surprise "K" ask me AGAIN if he could lend me the exact same amount and promised to pay it back the next month. Once or twice maybe I can tolerate it but more than 3 times?? I started to get suspicious.

I thought this incident was strange so I ask my friend, "V" if he knew anything about "K". I thought maybe that K is having some issues with his family or maybe he has some injuries and it turns out, I found out from V that K recently got a new girlfriend and has also been asking V to lend him around $2000 NTD( \\\~$60 USD) as well.

We're now in our third year and he still won't stop asking me to lend him money. Its not like he has a bad reputation with returning his money but at the same time, he also has 2 part time jobs now, that's 1 more than what I have this year. So guys, Would I Be The Asshole for refusing to lend him any more money even when he already has 2 part-time jobs?

Edit: Yes, English wasn't my first language and so many people pointed out that I confused the word "lend" with "borrow" and so I have changed it to match the story,
Also thank you so much for the responses and your insights into this problem. I'm still young so problems like borrowing money is a touchy subject that I'm not familiar with. I hope you guys have a great day :D

AITA for leaving my own birthday trip after finding out my boyfriend secretly invited his ex?

• Upvotes

Two years into dating, my boyfriend (31M) and I (29F) had a nice surprise coming my way for my birthday, according to him. As a treat for my 30th birthday, he was planning a surprise weekend getaway at a cabin by the lake. I was so excited about it. I took Friday off from work and started packing my things. Not only did I take Friday off work, but I also paid half of the cabin deposit since he wanted me to help out a little.

On the day of the trip, Friday morning, he came to pick me up and explained that we had to make a quick stop somewhere before heading to our destination. We stopped by an apartment complex, and out came his ex-girlfriend Dana carrying a duffel bag.

He then proceeded to tell me, rather calmly, that oh yeah, Dana’s joining us. She hasn’t had the best few months and she could use some vacation time.

I was sure he was pulling my leg. He did not.

When I inquired why he had not informed me, he replied that it was “a surprise” and I would have made it weird. I explained that it was my birthday weekend trip, and I wanted to know whom else was coming. He accused me of being controlling. Meanwhile, Dana was standing right there checking her phone, and what bothered me the most was that she did not even look surprised; it was clear to me that she knew everything.

I said that I am not spending my birthday weekend in the cabin with his ex, and he had to take me back home. He refused to do that because the cabin was paid for, Dana took days off, and “I ruined everything for everyone.” Thus, I left his car, booked a cab home and was crying all the way.

He went anyway. For the whole weekend he was sending me pictures of the lake with the caption “wish you were here,” but I did not reply to any of them. However, when I didn’t reply, he called his mother, and she told me I’m being insecure and dramatic, and that any true girlfriend would have been compassionate towards a person having difficulties.

His brother also advised me to forget about this incident because I had just needed to go and be the bigger person.

I asked him to pay back half of the deposit since I never even visited that cabin. He called this petty. I just wanted to get my money back and a bit of honesty. However, now he tells everyone how I’ve made my birthday drama out of nowhere.

I don’t think I did anything wrong. I haven’t asked him to cancel Dana’s trip or pick sides between me and her. I just asked not to fool me into celebrating my birthday with his ex. But all I get in return are accusations that I’m overreacting.

AITA?

AITH for pouring a drink on my sister after she deliberately spilled one on my new dress?

• Upvotes

A few days ago, my family had a birthday party I had bought a new dress for the occasion and I hadn’t even worn it before My sister asked me if she could have the dress but I told her no because I had just bought it and wanted to wear it myself first She went quiet and walked away Later when I arrived at the birthday party wearing that dress my sister spilled a drink on it I believed she had done it deliberately because I had refused to give her the dress I got angry and poured a drink on her in return. After that several family members started criticizing me saying that I always assume the worst about people and that I can’t get along with anyone I became emotional after hearing all their comments and left the party to go home Now I’m wondering whether I was wrong to react that way even though I felt my sister had intentionally ruined my new dress

AITH for refusing to clean up after my roommate?

• Upvotes

I live with a roommate and we agreed to share the household chores so that neither of us would have to do everything alone. At first things seemed fine but over time I noticed that my roommate often left her share of the cleaning for me to do. Whenever the kitchen was dirty I would end up cleaning it even when I wasn't the one who had made the mess

Eventually I got tired of feeling responsible for both of us. One day I decided not to clean up after my roommate and left the kitchen as it was When she noticed she got upset and accused me of being uncooperative I told her that I was willing to do my share of the chores but I didn't think it was fair for me to keep cleaning up after her

She believes that we should help each other out instead of arguing over household chores, but I feel that helping each other shouldn't mean one person is always doing more work than the other

Now Im wondering if I was wrong for refusing to clean the kitchen when I knew it would remain dirty or if I was reasonable to expect my roommate to take responsibility for her own share of the cleaning

AITH for not inviting my cousin to my birthday?

• Upvotes

I wanted to keep my birthday party small this year so I decided to invite only a few close friends and relatives I didn't want a big gathering and I wanted to spend the day with people I felt comfortable around

One of the relatives I decided not to invite was my cousin We have had several disagreements in the past, and our relationship hasn't been the best lately I didn't want any tension or awkwardness at my birthday so I thought it would be better to keep the guest list limited

However, when my cousin found out about the party they became upset and felt that I had deliberately excluded them Some of my family members also criticized me saying that I should have invited my cousin because were family and that leaving them out was hurtful

I understand why my cousin might feel excluded but I don't think being related to someone automatically means they have to be invited to every event I host It was my birthday and I wanted to celebrate it in a way that made me comfortable

Now I'm wondering whether I was wrong for not inviting my cousin because of our past disagreements or if it was reasonable to choose my own guest list for my birthday

AITH for leaving a family dinner early?

• Upvotes

A few days ago I attended a family dinner where several of my relatives kept asking me personal questions about my life At first I tried to change the subject because I didn't feel comfortable discussing those things in front of everyone However they continued asking questions even after I made it clear that I didn't want to talk about them

Eventually I became uncomfortable and decided to leave the dinner early I didn't want to argue with anyone or make a scene so I simply left. Later some of my family members criticized me and said that I had been rude by walking out while everyone was still gathered together They felt that I should have stayed and answered their questions instead of leaving

I understand that family dinners are meant to be a time to spend together and I wasn't trying to disrespect anyone However I also believe that I should be allowed to keep certain parts of my life private Now Im wondering whether I was wrong for leaving early instead of staying with my family even though their questions were making me uncomfortable

AITAH for wanting to acknowledge all the trauma the rest of my family won’t?

I (24F) am not really sure where to even begin. I don’t know if anyone in my family uses Reddit so I want to be tactful in how I lay everything out. I really need outsider perspectives here. Please be brutally honest.
I’m set to marry my fiancée (28F) next summer. I truly don’t think I’ve ever been more excited for anything in my life! We are building such a beautiful life together and have so many wonderful plans. I feel fiercely protective of our foundations and future, and I fear my family dynamics give me many concerns.

The eldest set of siblings are about a decade older than myself. At the time my parents got together, they had children of their own and I came along after their marriage. My older siblings went through a slew of trauma, including physical discipline that crossed the line and s*xual abuse. Eventually as my siblings distanced themselves. Even one pressing charges for the abuse inflicted by my dad. As a result, my family was estranged for over a decade. I grew up being led to believe my siblings made up their abuse as a means to get out of arranged custody times and other excuses.
In the absence of most of my siblings and the legally required distance from my dad, I would say my mom was in survival mode. Eventually my dad was out of the legal system and back in our family home. He had missed years of my life. Meanwhile, my mom was doing everything to paint a picture of a happy, successful family. She had control of my life. My courses, my friendships/relationships, and eventually even my finances. All of that pushed me to remain closer to my father as he was rather passive. That is, until I learned the truths that had been hidden from me as “lies”.
Presently, I’m pretty low contact with my dad. Special occasions mostly. I’d say my mom and I are friends. But with my wedding coming, I’ve decided I don’t want my dad there at all. I had this conversation with my mother, but she has not come to terms with the abuse of my siblings. She felt that I was using the trauma of others as an excuse to not reconcile my own relationship with my dad. She left the conversation with understanding but within weeks, begged me to reconsider my decision. However, I am unmoving in my decision. My siblings have been around in the last few years, but they don’t acknowledge the abuse or lingering traces of it. It’s as if everyone has chosen to pretend that nothing has happened. I am exhausted with continuing the facade. I want to sit my parents down, explain my boundaries, and state exactly why those boundaries are placed. No matter how uncomfortable or difficult those details may be. Even if some details aren’t fully mine to share. I’m tired of hiding behind a smiling face and complacent voice. I want the family my fiancée and I are building to be rooted in love and safety, not fear.

Am I the asshole for wanting to blow everything up? Would I be the asshole for doing so? Or should I just set my boundaries with no conversations had?

AITAH: I left my group in the middle of the semester after feeling disregarded

I (20NB) am a film student. In one of my classes, we were assigned to make a short film in groups of four. Each group member wrote a script and pitched it, and then the group as a whole chose which film to produce. My group chose my script. There were also four roles that had to be filled for the assignment, and I was elected director since it was my script and idea.

Everything was going well until the first shoot, when I overheard my teammate "Riley" (21F) talking to someone else about me, saying "it's like she doesn't know what a shot is" and "she doesn't know anything." It was doubly frustrating to me because she was disregarding my pronouns and not talking to me directly about the problem she had.

I went home and tried to go ahead with the project anyway, but over the next few weeks, my three teammates, who are best friends and roommates, stopped showing up to class entirely, and would ask me for information from the class instead. They also made executive decisions without me, like cutting entire shoot days, taking scenes out of the movie, and pushing production to two weeks behind schedule. The longer I stayed, the longer I felt like I wasn't being valued as a teammate or a creative, and I was worried that the movie, which is our final exam, was going to be bad and not give me the grade worth the effort I had been putting in.

I talked to the professor, and she agreed that I could split from the group and restart my progress on my own movie. I thought about it for a few days and then decided to go for it. I got the costumes back from the other three's house on Friday, then shot the first half of my new movie on Sunday. Then I texted the three friends and told them that because I felt disrespected and not valued as a teammate, I was splitting off from the film to make my own. I told them they could keep on using my story and my ideas, and my costumes (just after 2 weeks, once they resumed shooting), I just didn't want to be in their film anymore.

They said that this was very selfish of me and that I should have talked through issues with them "like an adult in a college class" instead of just quitting and walking away, and that they needed "the director to direct [them]". The reasons why I didn't tell them sooner were 1. because they were doing things without talking to me "like an adult in a college class" and 2. because I was afraid Riley would do something to the costumes, which are my real life clothes and belongings that I am quite fond of. But should I have tried to talk to them sooner? AITAH for leaving??

AITA for cutting down trips home since my family puts in no effort to visit me

I (f24) moved abroad to Australia for uni 5 years ago, and have been living here since. I have a job I love and my fiancé is Australian so I have no plans of moving back home.
When i was in uni I travel home once a year over Christmas, but since graduating I have been traveling home more often (about 4 times a year).
No one in my family have visited me here since I moved. I have offered to pay for them to visit me repeatedly (I won the lottery at 19, so money isn’t an issue) but they always have an excuse about how they can’t make it, even with 5 weeks of paid vexation each year.
I understand that since I moved abroad more of the effort of traveling will fall on me, but it feels like I am the only one putting in any effort.
I have decided since my family apparently dosent care to put any effort into our relationship I will stop traveling to see them so often, now I use all of my vacation each year to visit them.
I am also engaged and have more people and relationships in my life where both sides puts in the effort, so will spend more effort on them and less on my family.
When I talked to my mom a couple of weeks ago she asked me when I am coming home next and I explained what I wrote above, and also how my fiance and I will be alternating holidays between our families from now on, so I will only be see my family of the holidays every other year. My mom said I was unfair, and how I was the one who moved to the other side of the world, so I should have known it will be on me to visit them, and how it is much easier for me as one person to visit them than for the five off them to visit me (parents and 3 siblings). I got similar messages from the rest of my family in our group chat so they all agree. I feel like I have been more than accommodating, I’ve traveled to see them, offered to pay for them to visit me, I offered to pay for my siblings to bring their partners as well, still nothing from them. I feel like it is unreasonable for them to be upset with me when they have put in zero effort in the past 5 years I have been here. I know cutting down my visits will mean I will have less of a relationship with them, but now I am the only one putting in any effort, so it feels pretty unavoidable at this point.
So am I wrong for cutting down my visits when my family puts in no effort?

I have 3 siblings, we are close in age but I am the youngest. Both of my sisters were already in uni when I moved and graduated a year before me, and I completely understood they couldn’t mange to visit while in uni themselves, but they graduated and got full time jobs 3 year back. And have gotten 5 weeks paid vacation since and still haven’t come.
My brother worked full time when I started uni, and he started university himself two years ago, so now he both work full time and is a full time student, so I again understand why I hasn’t been able to visit me when he is that busy. But he still had 3 years where he was working and had 5 weeks paid vacation and didn’t come for a visit.

Edit: someone said I should add that all of them have travel a lot, having visited 20+ countries each, and traveling abroad every year. Some years that is roadtrips to neighboring countries and others are further away. They have also done longer flight in the past ranging from 8 to 17 hours travel. So while it isn’t quite as long as a trip to Australia they have done long travel days before

AITAH: kicking my partner of almost 2 years out of my house

I hit the last straw last week. He went on a 24 hour no contact "runaway" aka drinking/dugs without saying hes not coming home/what hes up to. Hes done this before (having phone off, not coming home).

He doesnt come home until after midnight at least a couple nights a week. He misses work due to hangovers at least a couple times a month - and hes trying to run his own business. We've talked about communicating when not coming home after work. The horse has been beaten many times.

He doesnt see his drinking as a problem. But i think if you're willing to jeopardize your business and relationship for uncontrolled "fun" then it is? What do you all think?

Hes a good guy overall, hes the "fun guy" but at what point does the fun guy become a loser when hes 30 and doesnt have his drinking in check? Am I being an asshole for kicking him out over this? Ill say I am in love with him, he is a good guy, but I cant deal with never knowing when or if my boyfriend will be coming home each night. This feels like behaviour for someone in their teens and twenties?

AITA for refusing to apologise to my boyfriend after he embarrassed me in front of his friends?

My boyfriend and I have been together for almost two years, and until recently, I thought we were pretty good at handling disagreements. We don't always agree, but I usually try to talk things through rather than let arguments drag on. Last weekend, we went to dinner at his friend's house. There were about eight people there, and most of them knew each other better than I did. During dinner, someone asked how we had decided where to go on our last holiday. I explained that I had found the accommodation and planned most of the trip because my boyfriend had been busy with work at the time. He laughed and said, "Well, she likes being in charge of everything," which I initially took as a joke. But then he started listing other things I supposedly controlled, including what we ate, where we went on weekends and how we spent our money. A couple of his friends laughed, and I felt increasingly uncomfortable. I tried to explain that we usually make decisions together, but he interrupted me and said I couldn't take a joke. I went quiet because I didn't want to turn someone else's dinner into an argument. For the rest of the evening, he kept making little comments about how I always wanted things done my way. On the drive home, I told him that I felt he had made me look controlling in front of people who barely knew me. I wasn't upset that he had teased me once; I was upset that he kept going after I showed I wasn't comfortable. He said I was being oversensitive and that his friends hadn't thought anything of it. I told him that whether they minded wasn't the point. I expected my boyfriend to take my feelings seriously instead of dismissing them. The argument got worse when he said I had embarrassed him by going quiet and making the atmosphere awkward. According to him, I should have laughed along and discussed it privately later. I replied that I had tried to explain myself, but he kept interrupting me. The next morning, he messaged me saying he was still annoyed that I'd spoiled his evening. He hasn't apologised for the comments and insists that I owe him an apology for making him feel uncomfortable in front of his friends. I do love him, and I don't expect him to agree with me about everything. I also understand that couples tease each other sometimes. But I don't think that means one person gets to keep making jokes at the other's expense and then blame them for reacting. My best friend thinks I should stand my ground, while my sister says I should apologise for going quiet and discuss the rest when we're both calmer.

AITA for exploding at my elderly father over where my elderly mother receives care?

My mom is nearly 82 and suffers from dementia. She can use the bathroom independently but needs full-time care and guidance on all daily tasks otherwise. She is still very sweet and I (her son, 46) have been very close with her my whole life.

My dad is also nearly 82 but in relatively good health. We are not close. He cared for my mom full-time for nearly 4 years and I am very grateful for that. That took a toll on him and his health so it was clear 2 years ago that he could not do it any longer.

I didn't want my mom to live in a senior living facility because I knew she would not last long in a place like that. I had recently got laid off so I offered for my mom to come live with us (me, wife, and 3 boys) in another state. We agreed on a monthly stipend for her care. Not nearly enough for us to live on, but close, and way cheaper than a senior care facility.

Everything was great at first -- my mom loved being around her 3 grandsons and reading to them and watching them, but my wife and I quickly realized we would receive no support from my dad or older sister (50). We didn't even hear from them for the first few months of her living with us.

When my dad and I did finally speak it was only about the next steps for my mom. We agreed that the senior living facilities where I live were better and more affordable, so I got on a waiting list for memory care here, should her dementia progress further or her mobility decline.

It has been nearly 2 years now of us caring for my mom, all the while receiving no support from my dad or sister. Out of the blue they both reached out recently asking about dates we were available for a "family reunion". They planned the whole thing without asking us if we were ok with hosting.

This "family reunion" just happened and we played nice and rolled out the red carpet for them. During the visit while everyone else was outside, my dad pulled me aside and said he wanted to talk to me about my mom's future. He then proceeded to tell me that he toured a senior care facility in his state and put down a deposit and that my mom would come back and live near him.

Although it has not been easy caring for my mom, we have grown very attached to her living with us and consider her part of our family. My dad made this decision without even talking to us. This enraged me and I exploded at him. I didn't call him any names, but I yelled out that what he is doing is complete "F'ING BULLSH--!!!" I then got up and punched the door as I stormed out of the room.

We didn't speak the rest of the day. The next day I asked to speak with him and apologized for my outburst. He then accused me of elder abuse and called me an AH. So, is he right? AITA??

AITAH for feeling awkward when my girlfriend talks about her ex?

I've been dating my girlfriend for a few months now and she's my first serious relationship. Things are going well, but there's one thing I can't seem to get out of my head

Sometimes she casually mentions things she used to do with her ex, like places they went or little traditions they had. I know she's just talking about her life and she's not trying to hurt me, but I still feel weird hearing about it

I haven't asked her to stop talking about her past because I know she had a life before me. I just end up comparing myself to someone I never even met

My friend says I need to stop thinking about her ex and focus on the relationship I'm actually in

I know he's probably right, but since this is all new to me, I don't always know how to handle these feelings

AITAH for feeling uncomfortable about it even though my girlfriend hasn't done anything wrong?

AITA for refusing to let my friend teach me how to swim in front of everyone?

I've been trying to learn how to swim for a while now, but I'm still not very confident in the water

Last weekend I went to a pool with some friends and one of them started joking about how I still can't swim properly. He offered to teach me right there in front of everyone, but the way he was talking made me feel embarrassed

I told him I'd rather learn privately when I'm comfortable, but he said I was being too sensitive and that nobody was judging me

I know he might have been trying to help, but I don't like being put on the spot about something I'm still learning

The rest of my friends laughed it off and said I should just take the help instead of making it awkward

Now I'm wondering if I overreacted by refusing his offer

AITA?

UPDATE: AITAH for leaving our household and stopping school for a meanwhile?

hello, it has been almost a month already since I've posted about this and I really do thank everyone for their comments. It really did help and it made me tear up. You guys gave me the feeling of comfort that I never knew I needed:(

earlier today my mother sent me a message saying, "I was talking to your brother earlier and he said that this is not how he planned your life to be." It made me feel a lot of things that its hard to describe, but I know that I felt anger and I typed in a message saying, "Does it seem like this is the dream that I have for myself?" but I never really had the courage to send it.

Its breaking me with how they think this is what I had dreamed for myself, and how they fail to see that this is the path that I took ib order to survive. Because asking for help wasn't doing anything rather than, *"understand your mother, she has been through a lot already"* and *"she's just starting to live her life after raising all of you".* and when I cried to just simply letting things out, I wasn't allowed to because I was not working yet and that my life is easy because I have a roof over my head so what do I have to cry about?

I don't even know how to put what I'm feeling right now into words right now.

I'm currently having some financial difficulties, does it seem like this is the life that I had dreamt for myself? In exchange for freedom, in exchange for healing, in exchange for having a life, I had to lose the dream that I built. Does it look like I wanted that?

but then again, this will be the last post since it has been established that even though you all think I'm not at fault, I will always be the AH in their story. Thank you so much everyone!

AITA for calling out my former best friend over his reaction to IG videos?

I (34M) and my former best friend, G (34M), were friends for nearly 20 years, from our early teen years in high school until last year. I came out in my 20s and G was so supportive. G’s a devout Christian and straight. I’m... the opposite lol. But we couldn’t have been closer, never fought, and loved each other like brothers. My mom even called him "son" and his kids called me uncle. At 28, I moved across the country but we remained tight. In 2024, I even surprised him at Christmas by showing up at his house with help from his wife (important later). Things seemed great. Until…

My now husband and I met in 2017 and married in fall 2023. G excitedly agreed to officiate, but a couple months before the wedding, he called me crying, saying he had to back out for religious reasons. I was shocked. My sexuality had suddenly become a barrier in our friendship. But he denied having issues with who I was and, wanting to see the best in him, I agreed he could be a groomsman instead (I'd been one at his 2013 wedding) and of course he could still attend my bachelor party.

Speaking of, G was awkward and drank excessively at my bachelor party a month later, saying he wanted to go hard to show he still supported me. BTW, 4 of the 6 attendees, including me, were gay; G and my brother, the best man, were straight. G happily partied at “regular” bars, but when I wanted to visit a gay club, he refused to enter, crying and almost having a breakdown. Instead of enjoying my party, I stayed outside consoling him till we all eventually went to a regular club, where G had a blast. Again, I let it go and we remained bestest of friends.

Fast forward to the final straw in 2025. I’d sent G two Instagram videos. One showed a straight man dancing in a dance class to a City Girls song. The other was a compilation of men surprising their friends by showing up unexpectedly, like I'd done to G the year before. Specifically, the first clip in the compilation showed a man jokingly climbing into his napping friend's bed while said friend's girlfriend recorded. He wakes up, realized its his buddy, and hugs him, laughing. Simple as that… Or so I thought.

G later texts me asking why I'd sent him those videos. I said I simply thought the dancing one was funny and the second reminded me of when I surprised him a year before. G defensively responded, regarding the first video, he'd “never dance like that” and “had no feminine side.” For the second, he apologized for not watching past the first clip but said he was "questioning [my] intentions.”

Excuse me?! After nearly 20 years, he still questioned my intentions??? Over IG videos?! I felt dehumanized, as if he saw me as a predatory gay stereotype targeting a straight man rather than the person he'd known for half his life. I questioned our entire friendship and myself. Had he slept with one eye open when staying over? Did he trust me around his kids? Had he always suspected malicious intentions? Do I unknowingly creep out my other straight friends? Am I a bad friend/person? Feelings from the first 20+ years of my life resurfaced, when I was closeted, depressed, lonely, and crushed by self-doubt.

I said I respected his beliefs and boundaries and apologized for offending him, but I was hurt too. That I refused to go back in the closet to be his friend or make him comfortable, as I did when he backed out of officiating and at my bachelor party. I also suggested he's projecting his own issues onto me (that's another story), which I know was harsh. Instead of understanding my perspective, G doubled down, saying it is what it is. I stopped responding and that was the end of the friendship then and there. It's been a year. We're still not friends, and I don't want to be. I'm at peace with my decision, but this did make me question myself and the kind of friend I am.

So AITA for feeling blindsided by G and feeling he blew up a nearly 20 year friendship over the Instagram videos I sent?

AITA for getting annoyed at my neighbor's kids for ringing our doorbell and running away?

My neighbor has a couple of kids who have recently started ringing our doorbell and running off before anyone can answer

At first I thought it was just a one time thing but now they keep doing it, sometimes when I'm busy working or trying to relax

Yesterday it happened several times in a row and I finally went outside to see who was doing it, but the kids were already gone

I haven't confronted their parents yet because I don't want to start an unnecessary argument with the neighbors, but it's getting really annoying having to stop what I'm doing every time the bell rings

My family says they're just kids messing around and I should ignore it, but I feel like their parents should teach them not to disturb people like this

AITA if I talk to their parents about it?

AITA for getting upset that my older brother is moving away?

My older brother recently told our family that he's planning to move to another city for work. I know it's a good opportunity for him and I want him to do well, but honestly I'm having a hard time accepting it

We've always been close and I'm used to having him around whenever I need advice or just someone to talk to. Now that he's leaving, things at home are going to feel pretty different

When I told him I'd miss him and wished he would stay a little longer, he said I should be happy for him instead of making him feel guilty about moving forward with his life

I understand that he has to think about his future, and I'm not asking him to give up the opportunity. I just wish he understood why this is hard for me too

My family says I'm being too emotional about something that's normal for adults, but I can't help feeling sad about it

AITA for struggling with my brother moving away even though I know it's what's best for him?

AITA for refusing to let another vendor use my stall after she lost her own booking?

I am 30F and sell handmade stationery at weekend craft markets. These markets have limited spaces, and vendors must reserve and pay for their own stalls in advance. Last Saturday, another vendor arrived and discovered that her booking had been canceled because she had missed the payment deadline. She approached me and asked if she could share my stall for the day. I politely declined because my table was already arranged to display my products, and the market rules specifically prohibited unregistered vendors from sharing spaces. She said she only had a few items and would barely take up any room, so I repeated that I could not risk losing my own booking by breaking the rules. Later, while I was helping a customer, I noticed that she had placed a box of her products underneath my table and was handing out her business cards to people standing near my display. I asked her to remove her things, and she responded that she was only trying to make the best of a bad situation. When I contacted the market organizer to ask what I should do, they instructed her to remove her products immediately because she was not registered for that event. She packed up, but afterward she posted in the vendors' group that I had deliberately prevented a small business owner from earning money even though I had plenty of space. Several vendors messaged me asking why I could not have helped her for one day. I explained that I had paid for my stall, followed the rules, and even offered to help her contact the organizer about future openings. She ignored that offer and continued saying I had ruined her weekend. I understand that losing a booking is frustrating, but I did not cause her cancellation, and I was not responsible for providing her with free space. AITA for refusing to let her use my stall?

AITH for telling my mother in law she can’t stay with us for the whole first month after our baby is born?

I am 28 and work as a veterinary nurse, and I’m eight months pregnant with my first baby, and my husband and I live in a small two bedroom house where the second room is the nursery, so when my mother in law Diane, who’s 58, announced at a family dinner that she’d be moving in with us for the entire first month after the birth to “take over”, I said politely that we’d love her help but that we needed our first weeks alone as a family, and she said I was being ungrateful and that every woman in her family had been looked after by their mother in law, and I suggested she could visit for a few hours each day instead and bring meals, but she said that wasn’t proper help and that she’d already told everyone she was coming, then she began telling the relatives that I was shutting her out of her own grandchild’s life, my husband’s aunts started messaging me saying I should be thankful for any help, my husband told her gently that we’d decided together and that he agreed with me, and last night she sent me a long message saying she’d already bought a camp bed and that she’d be at our door the day we come home from hospital whether I liked it or not, and I replied that I’d love her to visit but that I wasn’t going to let anyone move into our home against our wishes during the most vulnerable time of my life, so AITH for saying no?

AITA for refusing to let my sister decide what happens to our late grandmother’s belongings?

After my grandmother passed away last year, my mum asked me to help sort through her house before it was sold. I spent several weekends going through cupboards, labelling boxes and making sure important documents and sentimental items were kept safe. My sister lives closer to Mum and visited occasionally, but she wasn’t involved much in the sorting process. When we finally finished, Mum said we could each choose a few things to keep as memories of Grandma. I chose an old wooden sewing box that Grandma had used for years. It wasn’t worth much financially, but she had taught me how to sew using the same box when I was a child. My sister chose some jewellery and a collection of old family photographs. A few weeks later, my sister called and said she wanted the sewing box because it would look lovely in her newly decorated bedroom. I explained why I had chosen it and reminded her that Mum had agreed we could each keep the things we wanted. She said I was being sentimental over something that would probably sit in a cupboard, whereas she would actually display it. I offered to show her some other things from Grandma’s house that were still available, but she insisted the sewing box was the only item she really wanted. Eventually, she told Mum that I had taken advantage of being the person who sorted the house and had deliberately claimed the best items before anyone else could choose. Mum asked me to give my sister the box to keep the peace. She said the jewellery and photographs my sister had chosen were worth more, so I shouldn’t be upset about exchanging them. I pointed out that nobody had assigned monetary values to Grandma’s belongings, and we had both been allowed to choose what mattered to us personally. Things became more awkward when my sister visited Mum’s house and found an old photograph of Grandma holding the sewing box. She took it home without asking and messaged me saying she thought it belonged with the box anyway. I asked her to return the photograph, but she accused me of turning Grandma’s memory into a competition. I don’t want this disagreement to damage my relationship with my sister, and I’m not interested in arguing over every little thing Grandma left behind. But the sewing box means a great deal to me, and I don’t think I should have to give it up simply because my sister changed her mind after we had already chosen our keepsakes. Mum now says I’m making a difficult time for the family even harder, while my sister believes I care more about owning an object than keeping our relationship intact.

AITAH for asking my brother about a girl I liked at his wedding?

I went to my brother's wedding recently and there was a girl there who really caught my attention. We talked a little during the event and I felt like we got along pretty well. Since then I've been thinking about her and wondering if I should try to get to know her better

The problem is I don't know much about her, and I only found out she was connected to the bride's side of the family. I mentioned it to my brother and asked if he knew who she was

He laughed and said I was making his wedding about myself. I wasn't trying to steal attention from his big day, I just thought he might be able to help me find out if she's single

Now I'm wondering if I should leave it alone or ask my sister-in-law about her after things settle down

AITAH for being interested in someone I met at my brother's wedding?

AITA for keeping a secret from my Best friend

Hi, I am 17(M) my Best Friend is 17(F) we'll call her Chloe. Now we've been best friends since we were like 14 and recently she started to distance herself, I mean we both have tight schedules but we'd text often and even meet once in a while but it just stopped randomly. I was genuinely worried so I texted her if she was doing good. She replied with a really big text.

Now before I tell you what was in the text I'll give you a bit of a backstory.

So basically her parents are kind of strict with her interactions with boys, I mean like being friends is ok but hanging out, calls is a big no no and dating is basically just not allowed. So one day what happened was her mom called me, she trusts me and we're kinda cool, and asked for her boyfriend's number (she was told that he was her friend) I obv didn't give it to her, but then she started complaining about how Chloe is secretive all the time and said that she wanted to host a House Party on her birthday and wanted to invite her Boyfriend. Her mother then said that she didn't approve of this because she didn't know who the guy was at all. So I told her that he is a good guy and there's nothing to worry about. Then she just abruptly ended the call and while ending she said "don't tell Chloe that I called or she'll never trust me again". After that I went to her house to hang out. Her mother is kinda cool the only real problem is her father. Now the worst thing that happened was when I was leaving her father arrived, I said 'Hi' and just left he didn't even respond btw just ignored me

Now back to the Present, She replied to my text with a Big ahh paragraph saying that, when I left her father got mad with me hanging out with her and her mother allowing it and just straight up told her to never talk to me again and she also said that she found out her mother had called me and asked me for her Boyfriend's number and was super mad that I didn't tell her that being her bestfriend

She said that she trusts only a few people and I was one of them and that I've broken her trust by not telling her such a big thing. I explained that her mother begged me to not tell her and I didn't want to ruin the relationship between a daughter and a mother. I didn't want her to not trust her mother. But she just kept on saying that the fact that I had broken her trust was really painful and she didn't want to be friends with me anymore

I apologised and said that, I've made a dumb mistake and take full credibility and even said that I should've mentioned it atleast a few weeks later but she just didn't accept my apology. I kept apologising the whole day and eventually in the evening she blocked me.

Am I actually an asshole for keeping it a secret, if yes what do I do now?? I dont wanna lose the friendship we had

AITH for telling my sister I can't keep helping her with everything?

My sister has been going through a busy time lately and I've been helping her with a lot of things after work
At first I didn't mind because I know she has a lot on her plate, so I'd help with errands, cleaning and whatever else she needed
But recently it's become an everyday thing and I barely get time to sit down and relax
Yesterday I came home exhausted and she asked me to help her finish another task
I told her I was too tired and needed some time for myself
She got upset and said she wouldn't ask me for help if she had another option
I felt bad because I know she's struggling too, but I'm starting to feel like my own needs don't matter
My family says I should be there for my sister because we're family
I love her and still want to help when I can but I can't keep running on empty every day
AITH for finally saying no?

AITA for refusing to let a client use my portfolio after she removed my name from my work?

I am 28F and work as a freelance photographer. A few months ago, a small clothing boutique hired me to photograph its new collection. Our written agreement stated that the boutique could use the edited photographs for its website and social media, while I retained credit as the photographer. I delivered every image on time, and the owner told me she loved the results. Last week, I noticed that the boutique had posted several of my photographs in a promotional campaign, but the captions credited someone else as the photographer. I contacted the owner privately and asked her to correct the credits. She replied that her marketing assistant had uploaded the posts and that the credit was not important because the boutique had paid for the images. I sent her our original agreement, which clearly included the credit requirement. Instead of correcting the posts, she asked me to send the original high-resolution files for another campaign and promised that she would fix the credits later. I refused to provide additional files until she honored the existing agreement. She then accused me of holding her business hostage over a few words in a caption and threatened to tell other local businesses that I was difficult to work with. I gave her three days to correct the existing posts and explained that I would fulfill any remaining obligations under our contract, but I would not provide extra work outside those terms while the issue remained unresolved. She eventually corrected the credits, but then sent me a message saying she would never hire me again because I had made a simple mistake into a business dispute. I have not contacted her since. A fellow photographer thinks I should have ignored the missing credit because the client paid me, while another says my reputation and contractual terms matter. I delivered exactly what we agreed on, and I only asked her to honor the same agreement. AITA for refusing to provide additional photographs until my client corrected the false credits?
