Yes, that is how this film ends: with baby Milo crying for his mother.

Thanks. I know it's old, but didn't want to spoil.
Thinking about it, one of the better (more scary) sci-fi endings I've seen.

These movies came out when I was growing up and I absolutely loved them!

So was I. POTA for much of the recent past was a lost franchise.
I loved all the movies and the cartoon. The show was just all right. I even had the board game back in the mid 1970s.

I remember being somewhere in SoCal as a kid during filming of one of the TV episodes. One of the theme parks. The set was in a little arena with seats for viewing.
Edit: Suppose I could have bothered to look it up.
βThe 1974 Planet of the Apes TV Series was filmed almost entirely on location at what is now Malibu Creek State Park (formerly the 20th Century Fox Movie Ranch / Century Ranch) in Calabasas, California. [1, 2, 3]β. So not really the theme park I remember. Memories get jumbled when youβre 4.

I personally didnt care for this because it doesn't make any sense how they got back.
The Icarus sunk to the bottom of the salt lake. The End. Unless you can explain how the apes recovered it, dried it out, figured out how it operated, refueled it,launched it, and figured how to time jump back to exactly the right decade, I cant come along for the ride.
I love the original PotA, and like BtPotA, but Escape is just to goofy for me.

That's fair. When I first saw these films, I was a little kid and didn't go that deep. I mean, honestly, these films are science fiction, not reality. There is actually a comic book that explains the events that you just wrote about. The character of Dr. Milo was supposed to be a bigger role in this film but, because Sal Mineo became extremely claustrophobic in the makeup, his character was killed off early.

Other than the original film, this one was my favorite "Apes" film!

I was watching it a few years ago and realized that they save a lot of time and money with this plot since they only had to put two people in ape make up.

Yes, exactly! Even though these films always made a profit, the budgets were consistently lowered on each film!

The most disturbing of the 5 original βApesβ movies.

Yes, absolutely. To me, this movie was a tragic love story. I hated that Zira and Cornelius were murdered.

I was obsessed with the Apes movies and TV show, but Escape From the Planet Of the Apes was my favorite.

I told this woman the other day her wig look just like Zera and she had no idea who I was talking about but said that was a lovely name.

I was fascinated by all these movies but had to watch them on the sly. My mom didn't want me to see them, I guess she thought they were scary and she generally didn't like sci fi anything... ? They were so ground breaking and captivating to me and still are.

I recently read the original book by Pierre Boule - and it was much philosophical and introspective than the movie, delving into what makes a man human; why people exist etc It chronicles the life of an astronaut who lands on an incredible planet and how he adapts to life thereβ¦.
It has the one of the most stunning last lines of any book Iβve read but I canβt spoiler it for youβ¦
