When the king of england was presented to a court to be judged on charges of treason and murder by the revolutionaries in the english civil war, these were his first words on the trial. He is implying that since the king of england is the ultimate authority of the land, no lawful authority can overrule the king and thus the trial is illegitimate.

"NOOOOOOO YOU CAN'T QUESTION THE AUTHORITY OF THE COURT!" "THE COURT FORBIDS IT!"

The only authority that has ever mattered - we have more men with weapons than you do. Why don't you just walk away if you shouldn't be here? Oh, you can't? Suck my balls, your majesty.

“A King may move a man, a father may claim a son, but remember that even when those who move you be Kings, or men of power, your soul is in your keeping alone. When you stand before God, you cannot say, "But I was told by others to do thus." Or that, "Virtue was not convenient at the time." This will not suffice. Remember that.”
