Got a free Creality Ender 3, no idea where to start

Hi everyone!

A friend gave me this Creality Ender 3 for free. He bought it second-hand from a guy who used to 3D print, but my friend never actually used it, so he decided to give it to me.

Looks like the other man made quite a few mods to it, but I have no idea what half of them do.

Not really sure where to start. Should I take it apart and give it a good clean first? Or just try to get it running?

He also gave me a bunch of filament spools that have been sitting around for over 3 years. Are those still good to use?

Any tips or advice for a complete beginner would be awesome. I don't even know what I should check first

Thanks! :)

Update: my free 3D Viewer replacement now opens ZIP downloads, more formats, File Explorer thumbnails and runs on Mac

• Upvotes

A week ago I shared PrintView3D, a free open-source replacement for Microsoft's retired 3D Viewer. Thanks for all the feedback, a lot of it went straight into the program. Here's what changed since then:

- Open ZIP files directly: drop in a Printables / Thingiverse download and see the models without unpacking. "Show all side by side" lays them out on one plate, and you can send them all to your slicer at once

- More formats: STEP, OBJ, PLY, OFF and glTF/GLB (with their colours), on top of STL, 3MF, G-code and FreeCAD

- Thumbnails in Windows File Explorer for 3MF, STL, G-code and FreeCAD files

- Export STL from a 3MF project: every object as its own STL, or all in one

- macOS beta for Apple silicon Macs, next to Windows and Linux

- One-click updates on Windows, and a short "What's new" after each update

- New icon toolbar, a list of all keyboard shortcuts, and Windows 11 Mica / Acrylic transparency if you like that look

Still free, MIT licence, works offline, no account, no tracking. Six languages; translations are open to anyone on GitHub.

Download: https://github.com/sevagjb/PrintView3D

I'm especially looking for a few Mac users to try the beta, and for anyone whose slicer isn't found automatically. Bug reports and ideas are welcome here or on GitHub.

imprimante 3d

Bonjour,

Je cherche actuellement une imprimante 3D à la fois pour le perso et pour le pro (choses simples type boites de rangements, petits jeux pour patients etc...). Imprimante une seule couleur me suffit.

Merci :)

Looks like the next printer will be out in the near future. Seven heads but no other details.

I was just thinking about getting one, but now I have to wait. What do you think?

Bambu H2 has lower black friday prices than their anniversary sale

I'm looking to upgrade to the H2D so I kept an eye on the prices, here's how they compare. Should also apply to the P series. I know the H3C is around the corner, but it's gonna be so much more expensive than any of this.

Also noticed they have 2 years of warranty now? Must be something new, my P2S only had one year.

Bambu P1S w/ AMS 2 Pro vs. Elegoo CC2 Combo

P1S (with AMS 2 Pro) with 4kg of filament is $530 USD

CC2 Combo with 4kg of filament is $443 USD

Both include shipping and Taxes, this would be my first printer so the convenience of BambuLab's ecosystem is very apeeling to me, I've also heard that it's easier to find parts, i'm not worried about the screen as i would be using my phone and laptop to send the prints. I've also heard that to print PLA (what i would be printing mostly at the beggining) you need to open the door or remove the upper glass (I live in Texas so summers are pretty hot).

I like almost everything about Elegoo except that I don't want to hassle using the slicer, as I am new to 3d printing i don't know how hard it's to actually use or how long it takes but i do want my prints to look as nice as possible, it is my understanding that that is easier to achieve in Bambu's system but please correct me if I'm wrong (also the big monolit of plastic on top of it it's pretty ugly).

Printer for 9 year old

Hey Everyone,

Looking at Bambu since they are easy and have a good ecosystem.

Budget isn’t an issue for either but curious which would be better

Looking at the A1 Combo or P1S AMS 2.

Also open to other printers as well but love the idea of an app to pick stuff and print

Daughter just wants to make some toys and I’ll print some household stuff.

Can someone give me direction?

Best printer for my needs?

Hey everybody, relatively new to the 3D printing world, only a few months in. Currently have an Ender 3 v3 SE which obviously gave me some troubles the first week but she works great now with no issues or annoyances.

However, I would love to get into the AMS world and some faster printing speeds as this thing takes forever. I was looking at the Bambu P2S but was curious what are some other good competitors around that same price point I should maybe consider. Any information and experiences you guys have had would be extremely helpful!

X2D ?

Hello guys!

Im looking to get a printer but im stuck on wich way to follow.

Im completaly new in this world, looking for something for home stuff and action figures or something around modelism.

Looking for something with a nice print quality and a minimum waste

Im stuck between A1, P1S or P2S and X2D, in your oppinion, wich one would you go ?

Obs. The room temp its around 18c and on 70 hr in winter worst days without any climatization.

Thank you.
